God is the primordial energy, the undifferentiated One-Life. The experience of matter and our phenomenal reality is an illusion. God is 'dreaming' so to speak. Reality as we know it appears to be a MASSIVE simulation in the 'mind' of God. Your individual consciousness as plaetton is an illusion. We are all one. We are God. Let me give you an example with video games. In FIFA13, C. Ronaldo, his boots, his hair, his eyes, the pitch, the ball, the sky and the stadium are all made of the same undifferentiated 'material'. Now let's go deeper and add consciousness to this mix. If this in-game CR7 were to be conscious, assuming a CPU Vs CPU scenario, he would believe himself real. He can 'think', interpret stuff, take action and analyse things relative to himself. But unbeknownst to him, he shares the same 'universal' consciousness with all the players on the pitch, the spectators and the ref. You see. Furthermore, there's no absolute free-will too, there's no absolute autonomy also. We have the illusion of free-will. All your actions - although seemingly spontaneous - all arise out of a 'pre-programmed' tendency. A new born infant has an innate compulsion to suckle on it's mother's breást. It's not an independent decision. Back to our video game analogy. CR7 or any other player appears to have free-will to do whatever he pleases with the ball. But it is not exactly so. All actions he will take are only finite, random permutations of what he can do, given the skills and abilities the game developers gave to him. ...Within definite, specific, rigid sets of rules. Fouls, throw-ins, corner-kicks, goals, playing space, etc. This is also how our own reality appears to be. I found this interesting image, I'll attach it so you can contemplate on it.

Free-will isn't an illusion. I agree free-will isn't absolute but I disagree it is illusory. We can choose and we do BUT within pre-defined constraints, which happen to be a function of free-will. |
