I'm sure they know their way to abuja!
I saw the floodlights turned on yesterday while passing through that axis. Impressed that the stadium is in good shape and hope the other National stadium in Lagos would be fixed too. Wish he could be maintained and Eagles' matches played on that turf.

demelza: Why have the stadium fall apart and then rehabilitate? It would be best if a private company with a reputation is kept in charge of the routine maintenance. It shouldnt be a one-off thing.

Nigeria needs serious restructuring and decentralisation of Governance. To start fixing the National stadium, Police College, Lagos-Ibadan Road e.t.c. The president had to visit and award contract? What about the Ministers that we are paying? What about the different Governmental Agencies responsible for maintenance?
Is this how we will continue to run Nigeria? How many places can a single President visit? What happens if the President cannot visit? So nothing will get done? How will the president have time to oversee sound policy making if we don't decentralise government and governance?

Don't get me wrong, I am not against the President but against this faulty Federalism system that the military bestowed on us. Until our Agencies and Institutions are made to work, Nigerian Presidents will continue to labour almost in vain.

taharqa: ANOTHER PROMISE KEPT:

Another promise kept indeed.
Next year another Billions will be budgeted for the same rehabilitation.
This isn't about GEJ but for our total lack of maintenance culture.

Misplaced priority.

Rehabilitate Hospitals NOT stadiums and PDP convention centres. Nonsense!

What's it with all these sycophants? Jonathan came in, met a stadium in good condition, allowed it to deteriorate, repaired it and you think we should sing to high heavens because of that. What would you have done if he built a new stadium? Declare a public holiday I guess!
