OP kiss kiss kiss,

You've made my day by putting up all those pictures because I am an ardent lover of all things natural, I love nature and the breathtaking views and scenery it offers. I once visited the ranch a long time ago and even back then things were expensive (I guess for a student things would be expensive) BUT I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN the experience of being so up close and personal with nature and God.

I say God because when I look at all that green land, mountain tops, the sky/clouds etc, I see his glory and beauty reflected in the things he has created I'm just WOW-ED shocked shocked and I think to myself AWESOME GOD. I will save money and go back there one day oooo. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful God is and how the best things in life are really free. I never have to pay anyone to look at such glorious splendour or do I? LOL

Leopantro: thanks for the info. I'm planning on visiting the place on my honeymoon but was told by a friend that the place is lonely and boring on any other day apart from holidays. also, electricity supply is epileptic. could I get more information about the mini hotels and list the other attractions apart from the above?
. Never a dull moment there. It's home of politicians. If you can't afford their accommodation bill up ranch, you can go to Utanga and lodge.

Nice looking scenery but those images are not new cos i've seen them in almost every picture of Obudu and i'm beginning to wonder how big Obudu Ranch is. I've also wondered why the trip from Calabar to Obudu is 8 hours except the road to Obudu is very bad or Obudu is in Cameroon. I've looked at the map and can't see why a trip within the same state in Nigeria is that long. This is not Texas we're talking about.

Good place this ranch has always been, wished our government was good enough. Imagine the number of tourist this place would have attracted in a year and how much money would have been realized. But we depend solely on oil, forgetting that tourism is a god source of revenue.

The ranch, asin the geopraphical entity is very big, so big infact that some of the table land spills into Cameroon. It is the resort thatbis limited in size. Again, Cross River State is the biggest state in the south, and Obudu and Calabar are at opposite ends. When the roads were bad the worst time was seven hours, but now, it is at least 4-5 hours. On a perfect road it should be about 3.5 hours. That aside, about the pics, it is because we as Nigerians aren't very adventurous. If or instance one was to take the 6 hour hike around the waterfall in the Anape reserve we would have a lot more pictures. Hello someone.

Was there about 2 months ago when i went for my grandpa's burial in my village in obudu. Went on an okada bike with my cousin & it took us about an hour from obudu town to bottom hill at the ranch.

Even have pics & even a video. Don't know if to post it here or create a thread.

It's an ideal place for honeymoon if you have the money to spend. The biggest challenge is getting there on budget if you aint driving.
But if money ain't any hindrance then you can get flights out from Lagos to Magret Ekpo airport in Cross River, Calabar. There are some tour agencies around the airport although I must warn you their services are bit pricey. Anyway, once you get past the money obstacles you'd have to sit through a six plus hour journey from the airport to the ranch. Obaniluku where the ranch is bothers Cameroon - the reason why it is that far.

If you are looking to save money and drive to the ranch my advice will be to do it in two days if travelling from a neighbouring state (SS/SE states). It is not recommended to travel anywhere after mid day to the ranch as some sections of the road aren't in top shape. Set out early from within the city of calabar and arrive preferrably during sunlight.

Part of the journey sees you touring through small villages and you can best take advantage of the scenery during daylight. You don't want to ascend the ranch during night fall! Not advisable.

Once on the ranch you can go abaout based on your prearrangements - if you like an undisturbed tour your hired tour agent from Calabar will chauffeur you from when you arrive till you leave the ranch! Na ya money * was 70K for a 5 day trip, Toyota Corolla with AC * in 2009. I used Remmlord Tour Agency from the airport to the ranch - on the ranch- and back to the airport. Please note with the agency na u go fuel the car as at 2009!

There is an alternative of the ranch shuttle once you arrive to ferry you around b/fast lunch and dinner to the restaurant.

On my next trip I will definitely drive wink after gaining much needed experience. Park by the poolhouse and use the cable car up the ranch.

The accomodation rates is subject to house type: Villas for family usually cost more than chalets. Na level by level. find ya level.

Anyway, it was an enjoyable experience for me irrespective of the leak it caused by pocket grin but worthwile if you have spare cash to burn.
