The Niger Deltans will benefit very well if at all they become a nation. The South West would be second to the South South, while the entire north will suffer, suffocate and die very rapidly. There's something about wealth, when you have enough, it will be impossible for your nation to suffer no matter how much is stolen. The issue of NDDC is a scam because the organisation says Niger Delta Development but the people that end up looting the funds are Senators (includes Northern, Western, Eastern and even foreign thieves) and Fulani cabals, the Niger Deltans in NDDC are not in control, it's like Buhari as president but cabals in control. The northern Fulani cabals who channel Nigeria's money to their Fulani brethren in the forest and other parts of West Africa cannot sit dumb and allow Niger Delta to benefit from their wealth. Also, the entire country (Nigeria) depends solely on Niger Delta's wealth, so imagine when it's only them on their resources, it will be like Rivers State's former governor Wike who built flyovers and heavy projects in space of months and still looted billions without trace. Niger Delta as a nation would develop in space of months if they become a nation, we'll be going there like Dubai of West Africa. The cabals span across the 6 Geo political zones of the nation. It will be difficult for Niger Deltans seeing money to channel it to development because they're seeing peanuts and it's not enough that will be left after all the looters (cabals) have taken their shares.

So, a divided Nigeria will send some sects (the majority) to the grave while others (especially the Southwest and South-souths and a fragment of the Southeast) will be smiling.
iphy42:
I have followed with interest the intrigues that surround the call for a Sovereign or Non sovereign National Conference.
Many have argued that 1914 amalgamation was a big mistake while others maintain that our strength is in our number.
I think we need to be informed before taking a stand so as not to join the bandwagon driven by sentiments, greed, avarice and struggle for political control by few individuals.
Let me start with the Niger Deltans. They believe they have been marginalized and their resources forcefully taken over from them to develop Nigeria and so on but I have these thoughts for them:
1. Their leaders have received derivation fund for years, what exactly has those
Niger deltan sons done with that fund to benefit the people of region?
All the compensation money from oil companies, has it being used to better the life of the people or to provide basic infrastructure?
2. The NDDC is manned by Niger deltans, yet their eyes and ears are closed to the suffering of their people. The leadership instead loot funds meant for development and enrich their cronies and immediate families.
3. The president is from Niger delta. Has he done enough to empower his people asides paying millions of dollars to an ex militant to secure pipelines which MEND claims to destroy thereby polluting the communal lands and waters more.

Now fast forward to a divided Nigeria, are these same people looting the region dry not the ones that will be the leaders then? What would they do differently? Will they suddenly become humane? I doubt so.
Will the ijaws not want to be in charge? Will the Urhobos and Itshekiris oblige them? Will the Kalabaris and Isokos tag along? Will the division that chased them
from Nigeria not tear them apart?

I really want objective input from well meaning Nigerians for or against division so as to know the real situation on ground before we embark on this journey of no return.

I'll be right back with more.

Hausas have their own economy and don't need anybody's money to survive likewise the SE. The economy is huge. An economy of 200 million people is huge and they can easily support a government comprising of a few million civil and public servants. Then the oil on the seas and underground does not belong to anybody. The oceans cover over seventy percent of Earth and the contents including fossil fuel, fish etc is the common wealth of all in the world. When nations like Russia give up their fossil fuel to be shared, I will like to hear the opinion of Nigerians on the so called oil. It does not belong to you.
Re: Do You Think Dividing Nigeria Will Solve Our Problems? by adebayo987: 8:01pm On Jul 05, 2023
You're very funny. The phrase, "does not belong to anyone" is a political statement and don't fall for it. If you want to follow it literally, it means that not even land belongs to anyone. It's a term used by the political class to gain access to resources in order to boost national prosperity. The term even appear in constitutions but if you follow it literally, a land and its resources belongs to its early settlers otherwise there wouldn't be anything like "Kings🏙️ Queens, Kingdoms, Nations, Countries, Tribes, etc." anywhere on earth, we would just be humans existing as individuals. This is the reason why Russia is attacking Ukraine, they believe strongly that Ukraine (a sovereign state) belongs to them (Russians).

The oil in the Niger Delta belongs to the Niger Deltans. They're still the ones to suffer from the aftermath of its exploitation. They can suffer from earthquake, land, air and water pollutions, untimely deaths, and loss their lands and habitats (all their belongings and livelihoods) because of oil mining. So, don't fall for the political terms. If they don't do that in Nigeria, the North will suffer.

The North and Southeast do have their economy as you've mentioned but not enough to sustain them as an independent nation for a long time. The Northern economy is a sham, don't fall for the lies. Remove the sharing formula for oil revenues and see what happens to the North in just one week. As for the southeast, they have strong spirit of endurance and adaptation, they'll survive and can scale through. But the northern fellow will come begging. Buhari regime really opened the yash of the North that they're nothing without Niger Delta's oil revenue as their farm products were not enough to sustain Nigeria otherwise, it would have been sold very cheaply despite inflation because it would have been in abundance but that's not what we saw. Who did you think subsidy was benefitting? The short answer is "the North". Who did you think fixed exchange rate of Naira-Dollar was benefitting? Still the North. Most Buhari's policies including closing of borders, embargo on crypto currency, etc. were targeted at enriching the Northern farmers (marketers) especially the Fulanis. You clearly don't know what's going on. I'm in the system and I'm telling you the truth.

The number of Hausas depending on government is less than five hundred thousand. They depend on maize, groundnut, tomatoes, pepper, onions, trading, manufacturing, leather, dye, industries and hundreds of other economic activities. They are not depending on oil money and maybe fifty million people in the North west are like that. Fossil fuel twenty miles offshore does not belong to only the people on the coast, that is not anybody's farmland and if Ijaw, Yoruba, Calabar can share it with Hausa and etc, then they can as well share it with Indians Chinese Japanese Germans etc. It belongs to everybody. Then how is subsidy, dual exchange rate benefitting Hausas?. Is Emefiele an Hausa man?. I mean it was reported he paid 100 million naira to buy nomination form!. All kinds of people are benefitting from the scam and not only Hausas, the most hard-working people in this country are Hausas

From the first points this op laid down I knew he's half intelligent about what he was trying to say.
First, British has no right to come and colonize us and lump all sorts of nations that are not compatible in culture and tradition together, that's a recipe for disaster.
Secondly, non of all the nations that you call tribes in Nigeria had any say in how Nigeria was created and run. Issue of self determination is not about resources.
Thirdly, there are many countries all over the world that are less than one million in population and almost all minorities in Nigeria have more population than that.

All of you who are against dividing Nigeria are just half intelligent people throwing unintelligent argument to defend evils done against black Africans

Colonisation of Nigeria started from the colonisation of the Yoruba. The Yoruba fought civil war for seventeen years and the British did not intervene despite that they are better armed and we're in Lagos since 1861. When the Yoruba traditional rulers and elite got tired of the war, they wrote to the British to intervene and the British came to the warfront in Igbajo to appeal to the combatants. They set fire to the forests and the soldiers hailed them Oyibo adanasungbo!. They successfully stopped the war and put the Yoruba states under protection with Ibadan as capital. The war ended in 1893 or so but The Egba a Yoruba nation remained independent until 1914 when North and South Nigeria were amalgamated because the British decided there was no reason to disturb them. It was the invitation by the Yoruba that led to the colonisation of the rest of Nigeria. All these things should be taught in schools.

When you mention Hausas, it simply means that you're still thinking in one direction. The Hausas are the farmers, workers, slaves, etc. serving the Fulanis. The Fulanis make up 99.99% of the Northern political class (one of the reasons I supported Peter Obi was that Datti his deputy was an indigenous Hausa and not Fulani. It would have given the Hausas some leverage of gradually breaking out of the Fulani cobwebs which would have bettered Nigeria (because the Fulanis are the major problem Nigeria has) but of course, the cabals didn't let it happen). The Fulanis are the only tribe entitled to become Sultan. They're still the Northern politicians, religious priests, owners of farmlands, etc. while the Hausas are been suppressed and manipulated to remain as servants to them. The Hausas are the best tribes in Nigeria. When the Fulanis got a false notion that the federal government paid the ex-militants of the Niger Deltans during amnesty for carrying arms (without looking at what the militants were agitating for), they device a means to do the same which resulted to Fulani Boko haram and bandits. Now, how do they benefit from subsidy? The northern leaders who are mostly politicians are in some kind of conspiracy to be feeding all Fulanis existing in all parts of West Africa. Nigeria would pay for subsidy, while they will channel the subsidised petroleum to their brothers in neighbouring countries to sell at exorbitant prices in order to enrich and feed other Fulanis. They added the bandits in order to collect very huge sums from Nigeria. How did you think they were sponsoring bandits? It was via subsidy. Ones the subsidised petrol is sold, they channel the proceedings via a Fulani in either Niger Republic or Chad, to their militant Fulanis doing a dirty job for them. When Yar'Adua died and Goodluck became president, the Islamic Fulanis thought that Nigeria (their only POS machine) has been taking over by Christians. So, they started a war against Christians in the North via Boko haram. And during the election in 2015, they imported many Fulanis into Nigeria to elect Buhari on a common ground that Buhari would give them lands so that they will dominate Nigeria and in the future rule all of Nigeria. Buhari then brought the RUGA project that would give 1000 hectares of land to Fulani herders in all 36 states of Nigeria, which didn't work as planned and they (Fulani herders) started killing people as a protest but it failed. Then they turned to bandits and be attacking Hausas (not Fulanis) in the North in order to dominate the entire North since the plan for entire Nigeria didn't work.

So, the northern politicians who are flooding the entire northern leadership space channel all Nigeria's allocations from oil money for the Northern development to their Fulani brethren in neighbouring countries and forests.

As for fossil fuels belonging to everybody which includes foreigners. You're wrong. The fossil fuels in Niger Delta belongs to all Nigerians and the Niger Deltans are not sharing it with the German, Japanese, etc. Instead, it is managed by NNPC and any person sharing it with another country without the approval of NNPC is doing so illegally and if caught would be prosecuted. No country can come to Nigeria and legally share fossil fuels with Nigeria without paying for it, or buy it from Nigeria. So, you clearly don't understand the belongs to everybody notion. If it belonged to just anyone, it means nobody would buy or sell it, anyone can just go and get it and go away.

Mentioning Emefiele. The thing is, when you hear cabals you think they have a face. Hell, no! They steal money via government officials and they were all over Buhari's administration. They used the ₦100 million ticket fee excuse to steal from Nigeria because Tinubu still ended up using his own money for his campaigns while the party didn't contribute that much. To stop Tinubu's campaign expenses, they even used Emefiele to implement the Naira redesign policy and reduced bank transaction limits. But Buhari's sudden support for Tinubu made them think that Tinubu would be like Buhari their senior brother. They (Fulani cabals) take advantage of anything. Buhari even invested trillions of Nigeria's allocations in Niger Republic and ignored Nigeria (maybe they've planned to take over Niger Republic {who knows!} or both Nigeria and Niger Republic) The Fulanis are the ones who decide who becomes president in most West African countries. People even think that NDDC is meant to develop Niger Delta but the truth is, the name is just there but the main benefactors are cabals. These cabals cut across all the 6 Geo political zones, the Igbos, Yorubas, Ijaws, Fulanis, etc. But the majority are the Fulanis and other tribes (Ijaw, Igbo, Yoruba, etc.) present in the cabals are just people who they settle in order to get their way through.

As for the Hausas benefiting from farm proceeds. It's actually the Fulanis who owns the business while the Hausas serve them and at the end of the day, they would promise to take care of the Hausas' families by cutting peanuts for them. The question is, why is the North still very poor despite all the oil and farm money flooding their economy? It's because they're not fully in control, rather there's a big conspiracy plan drying up their money. Why did you think Tinubu chose a Fulani vice? The answer is, in order to win. If you go to any state, you'll see both Hausa and Fulani (usually termed Aboki) people doing business (shoe mending, herding, hawking, selling, etc.), those people have one Fulani Alhaji in charge of them that at any big occasion or end of year would charter a big truck that will transport them to the North for one celebration or the other. Whatever business they're doing, they pay 90% to the Alhaji in charge. Amongst them, you'd see some Fulanis who live in rented apartment while others (the Hausas) sleep on one part of the streets, the Fulanis among them are spies and observers as well as the Alhaji's money collector. Abeg, let me stop here before I spill every every. The thing is, if you understand what is going on, you may just japa.

In all, the belong to everyone notion isn't what you think it is, my brother.

You got it all wrong. The Fulani dynasty ruling Hausas have now become Hausas and that is why they call themselves Hausa Fulani. They can only succeed as Hausas. They represent Hausa people and it is the ones chosen by the Hausa that can ascend the throne. Therefore the king is also a slave and that is why the Kano government can remove any Emir of Kano at will, twice in a day if that is what they want. The Sultan or Emir is merely a custodian of culture and tradition. They reign but don't rule. In Yoruba land and other places, the leader of Hausa is always different from leader of Fulani and most town Fulani identify as Hausa. Then the Fulani are not the founder of Boko Haram. The Kanuri are. Hausa founded Maitatsene, Yoruba founded Nasfat etc etc. Maiduguri is not under Fulani jurisdiction and Sokoto that is directly under Fulani is known to be a peaceful place but however there are many Fulani even Yoruba Islamic extremists. Fulanis don't control 99 percent of the North as Kano is firmly under the control of Hausa politicians. Let me stop here. All your positions are wrong
