Husbands,Would You Go To The Market For Your Wives As A Point Of Duty? by fairygeh(f): 11:42am On Nov 10, 2013
So last week, after work,a close colleague of mine,a married guy told me he was going to the market to get foodstuffs like garri, beans, yams, for his house. The first question that popped out of my mouth was,Is you wife sick?He said no,that he normally does the shopping.its not like the wife is working or always busy ooo.she stays at home 24/7 The guy is yoruba but the wife is from the east ,He said the wife cannot go to the market because that was the way she was brought up in her home that when they were growing up,the dad buys every food stuff in the house,.At this point,I kept quiet jejely.I am not against if a husband seldomly does this stuff maybe if the wife is indisposed or something.Just like when you are buying electronics and stuff,we all know its a man point of call but how would a married man with a wife at home be going to the market when his wife isn't handicapped. IN yoruba culture, its somehow.I can't imagine myself getting married and I will now allow my husband to always go to the market.the food sef no go go in my mouth,it doesn't speak well of me as a woman.Am I the only one feeling this isn't right?I am curious. Now,I leave this question open to the house,Men would you go to the market for your wives as a point of duty.I no go mind if this thread enter FP sha.*winks*

It should naturally be the woman's place to shop for food stuffs. But then, it all boils down to the understanding in their marriage. Different knives, different strokes..

In a family the husband can assist the wife in shoppin things atimes, not all the time, abi if she wants 2 get somethin from d closest kiosk its her husband dat will go for her....and u said she sits at home doing nothin but (africamagic tiNswink )......she must have given him the saMe efo her mother gave her father ....but if it is out of love I.e real love dat d husband is doing it 4 her and her hands are clean.......den she must be a very lucky woman!

P.s she should be followin him sometimes so she will learn aw 2 chop too....cOs of wen he won't be around! Rather rainy days,.

Its ok.i have gone to the market severally and have seen married men buying food stuffs for their wives, infact some of them carry bag of rice on their head and use the right hanf to hold polybag.

Some men are gradually shifting from their traditional roles, but me as a WOMAN O,not because of anything, maybe because i am just use to it,ill rather buy my food stuffs myself,i dont like anybody buying stuffs on my behalf and if i cant go and buy my food stuffs myself, ill eat fast food restaurant foods till i have time to go

The only thin that will make me go to the market is if the goods are to be bought in bulk quantity and would be too stressful for her, besides that, HELL NO!

@op, pray you never get such a husband....... Don't just think the wife is enjoying, the man might just be plain stingy... He has a house wife yet he wouldn't allow her to go to the market to buy food stuffs. Hmmmm

I know of a family, the woman write down what she wants and the man do the buying... She once came to my mom for advice but my mom said she couldn't do anything and don't like to meddle in other people marital issues
