I am not being "upbeat" and I am 100% true to myself.
I cannot be bothered by what someone else does with herself except I see that it is ridiculously destructive e.g taking hard drugs then I might try and wade in. But habits like drinking and smoking? As long as it is done in moderation why bother?
I bite my nails. Loads of people think it is a bad habit, I agree but would i appreciate my "husband's sister" trying to make a mockery of it? No.
There are lots of other things to think about than making it my business what habits people get up to or what things people believe or do not believe in.

Reason 1: Are you willing to give up drinking for the relationship? In all honesty, I think it's not worth it in this case. Won't he run away if he notices that you have some other habit that he can not condone?

Reason 2: If he loved you as he must have told you before you guys started checking each other out, If he was a real man, he would have warned you or at least tried to convince you to leave a bad habit rather than make a run for it.
