Gerrard breaks his toe Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has broken his toe - but should still be able to play against Chelsea on Sunday. Gerrard limped off before the end of yesterday’s Champions League qualifier against Toulouse, although Rafa claimed he’s replaced Gerrard for the sake of introducing fresh legs, not because of injury concerns. Gerrard had ice applied to his foot in the dressing room and went for an x-ray today. This revealed he’d suffered a hairline fracture. Rafa Benítez later spoke of the injury and how he’s weighing up the pros and cons of utilising his captain in one of the season’s bigger games: “He has a hairline fracture in his toe. I think he will be available for the weekend. The only problem is, if we push him now, he might need a little bit of a rest afterwards. I was talking to the doctor and he said it is not a big risk for him to play, though there is always some risk.” The risk in playing Gerrard isn’t just in how his injury fares, but also in how well he can perform with the injury. Pain-killing injections may be enough, but Rafa needs to consider his options. He did hint quite strongly that although he may be willing to risk Steven for a major league match, he’s not keen on him being used in England’s friendly next week: “If we want to push him for this game, it would be a risk to push him again and again, because it could become more serious. I still need to talk to Steve McLaren but I think he will understand it would be a big risk.” http://www.anfieldroad.com/news/200708162580/rafa-gerrard-breaks-toe-but-still-available.html/ |

A-40: Not true. Despite all their new signings, Chelsea still has the better squad and will flatten them. Quote me!!!!!! |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:36pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
SWP? He can't play Chelski's game. And Liverpool's midfield (Sissoko) will flatten him It will be a tough game, any team can win. |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by A40(m): 2:47pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
Their back four is well drilled this season and their attack and midfield is even stronger with Babel and Pennant i am not sure your full backs can cope. Not to talk of their attack. You guys would be lucky to get a draw |

Have seen our last 3 matches including the Community Shield? Sure in our last match our defense was a bit shaky but definetly we have a crazy attack with Malouda, Kalou and SWP doing us proud. Liverpool Beware!!!!!!!! |

i dnt mean to make it sound like chelsea is a good side but a-40 ,which liverpool are u talking abt, the one that played 2: 1 against aston and 1:0 against toulese. umhhhh, dnt be fooled by the scoreline, that side is a disaster waiting to happen. they may SEEM to have a good defence line but i dnt think there attack line is potent.moreso the new signings dnt seem to have fully setteled into the team. |

funny enuff, i aint 2 botherd/afraid over what liverpool wuld offer 2 play. dey avnt bin xtra ordianry recently, even pompey beat dem in pre-season. from their signins & spendings, seems dey av planz 2 do a double/treble dis season, but dey sure aint playin lyk dey rili mean it. gerrard playin is most important, but chelsea av a lot more "gerrards" dan liverpool 2 lose d match a draw wuld b anoyin (bloody waste of tym), chelsea win wuld b d bomb UP BLUEZ!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by icezik1(m): 3:25pm On Aug 17, 2007 |

Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:27pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
Chelsea doesn't have a single player in the team that can match Gerrard. Not unless it's one of your new signings. |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by t0kunb0(m): 3:35pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
y wuld u want a "gerrard" dat determines d faith of d team wen stevi g has a bad day, liverpool go down d drain. cum 2 fink bout it, is dat an advatage or disadvantge if he's markd out, if he gets injurd, if he gets a red, liverpool's done 4 it & confusion sets in so who'd u mark out 2 "mark out" 2 dislodge chelsea's game plan |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by A40(m): 3:56pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
Naah Jeje Chelsea have not been fantastic either i saw their games against Reading and Birmingham, If Reading where not goal shy they would have put the game behond Chelski but they went to sleep in the second half.3-2 against Birmingham City and 2-1 against Reading arent fantastic scorelines.Haah their new signings have settled o! did you see Voronins goal? Did you see Torres's game against Villa not to talk of Babel |
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by t0kunb0(m): 4:02pm On Aug 17, 2007 |
chelsea aint no aston villa nor touleses, no disrespect 2 their villa & toulese oooo. liverpool no d kind of calibre of players dey xpect 2 meet on sunday, irrespective of how goal shy birmigham or readin mite b. just imajin if gerrard has 2 leave d pitch jst afta 15mins, with liverpool down by a goal i rest my case |
