I am sorry that you miss-understood me. It could be possibly that i used the wrong choice of words. When I say equal footing I mean of the same class as me. Of course my husband is the head of the house and all decisions are made by him, at least those he is in charge of, but there is this extra arrogance associated with men with money that i will not tolerate. They treat their wives like serveants. Not all but some based solely on my personal experience.

I assume because you did not quote someone or direct this question at one person you are asking everyone so let me give my thoughts on your questions:

1. Most woman evaluate a man not only on who he currently is but on what his potential is. Most men do not understand what their potential is or what it is that they can become until a woman comes along that shapes that for them.

2. Most women are marring the man and the wealth. It has long been established that there is not romance w/o finance. You cant pay the bills just on my paycheck.

Money is very important, it does not necessaryly mean the man must be a millionaire it just means he has to be comfortable  enough to provide the basic needs of the family.And these days there are lot of male gold diggers as well,lack of finances can be a great distraction in marriage.
