Opon Imo is a learning tablet. To load an application on the Tablet, you need an operating system. The operation system is called Android.
With Opon Imo, no need for blackboard and chalk. You are able to communicate with your student directly from the tablet. Every needed tools and books are installed on the tablet.

It is just a way of telling you why did you decide to embrace civilization of water closet over pit latrine. Is it not only about improvement in personal hygiene alone and but the advancement in technological development?

It is very disappointing that in this modern era people reject our own creation all because of politics but if it was from a white man or Chinese we will embrace with and call it a complete and great innovation. Some people will say why not a computer. Is a tablet not a computer.

Opon Imo can receive information from designated source. the reason why it is not allowed to receive information from any source both internet, USB and other computers sources is to restrict the usage of the Tablet to the purpose it is made for. If it requires input of data, the data centres created in all the 30 LG which employs over 5000 youths are available. Pls, ignorance is not an excuses. if you have a limited knowledge on something, if you can't you use Google try and ask. it is never a sin and will never be an offence not to know.

Dear guy, your level of ignorance makes me want to cry. I have been using computers professionally for more than 20 years so what do you want to teach me about operating systems and data transfer ? Your explanation shows however that you have only superficial knowledge of what you are typing. But in any case let's leave the technical matters alone since this is not the subject of this post. Answer me these please :
1. Is the user of Opon Imo able to load new books by themselves ? Is Opon Imo the same thing as given in the other institutions ? Absolutely no. It is an educational toy and really at best a tool for indoctrination. It has no means to access internet , no bluetooth , no usb .
2. Is the government able to change the books inside Opon Imo ? Absolutely no. The toy must be returned to the supplier for this. Possibly call for a fresh supply contract to Kabiru son of Aregbesola .The simple availability of bluetooth could have made it so easy to update thousands of tablets at once in a few minutes on site, but it seems more profitable () for the supplier that they are returned .
3. Are the books in the Opon imo free ? Absolutely no. A handful of publishers were given the contract to load them. Were all publishers contacted about the opportunity? You already know the answer. Osun State does not presently have a book from which schools can choose what they like.
4. Can other publishers also supply books fro putting in Opon ifa ? Absolutely no. The recommended book list is ignored. Only handpicked books.
5. Can this system be called fair commerce ? Is there a level playing ground for all educational suppliers ? Was due diligence observed in the implementation of this educational SCAM ? Is there hope for other book suppliers to be included ? Absolutely NO.

Thank you

We already know that whoever presently owns Osun state also owns Lagos and dictates whatever evil experiment that will be carried out on people . State by state the unholy kingdom will be taken away from you hypocrites and handed back to the people. i mean the real people at grassroots not party stalwarts. It has begun with Ekiti, Osun is next, Oyo will follow, Ogun will fall and probably Lagos before that. D-day for Osun is August 9. If intimidating people in thuggery style has you do on internet has been your style there will be plenty of soldiers and police on round to make sure that you don't also intimidate people to vote for you at polling stations this time. Aregbesola Tinubu is finished in Osun State, quote me. If your daily bread depends on him I am sorry.

You are the ignorant one here.
1.Is the user of Opon Imo able to load new books by themselves ? Yes and No. The Purpose is the question which is the reason for the tablet to be made not to access internet,No bluetooth and NO USB. Ekiti provided Compact Notebook (Mini laptop) they found out that most of the kids use the computer for extra curriculum activities which is goes contrary to its purpose. There are Secondary school students and the necessary books they need from past question of various exam to books are installed in the tablet. The books and the question paper are interface in the question and answer application.
2. Is the government able to change the books inside Opon Imo ? Absolutely yes. I repeat and will inform you if you like to know. The tablets can be used to write exams and test. How do you tend to input the exams or test if you cannot input data. Learn about OPon Imo before you comment on something you know nothing about.
3.Are the books in the Opon imo free ? Yes and No. Yes, in the sense that the students don't bother buying plenty books or any book again. NO, the government have paid the Nigerian accredited re-known publishers of Secondary schools books for the soft copies of their various text books that is installed in the tablet.
4. Can other publishers also supply books for putting in Opon ifa ? To inform you, there is nothing like Opon Ifa, we only have Ifa which is a book that discuss the history of Yoruba's. Not all books are incorporated in a device at the initial stage, there is always room for improvement and upgrade. I don't understand books that were recommended but was ignored. if they were, by who? and what is the story line of the book? Cos i don't want books like Mary Slessor stopped the killing of twins in Nigeria where we all know that twins exist in the western Nigeria since the existence of the Yoruba and the world in general except some remote places.
5. Can this system be called fair commerce ? Is there a level playing ground for all educational suppliers ? Was due diligence observed in the implementation of this educational SCAM ? Is there hope for other book suppliers to be included ?
All these question asked makes me know that you have no idea about what you are talking about. What is unfair commerce in this, giving the federal Government recommended Secondary Schools Publishers contract to produce books in a soft copy. With the current civilisation where every mainframe computers are reduced to tiny microcomputers that you still want to carry big books around. Am sure you are the type that go around with e-bible on IPAD arrogantly.

You brag that you have been using computer for 20 years that does not make you to have the technical know how. I can use anything to bet it you are a novice on computers or electronics. Think beyond your nose gee. We are in a technological age where people think the impossible. Can you imagine some one saying he does not know the relationship between Android and a Tablet. 1. Is the user of Opon Imo able to load new books by themselves ?

Does it really matter how the books are loaded? In fact the whole installation was done by IT techs volunteers right there in Osun so what's the big deal about loading books?

The same books loaded on one Flash Drive is enough to load up all the tablets in one school and more flash drives the better. They have trained staffs in all the schools to hand such basic functions.

They don't have to send one single tablet back to any manufacturer for basic installation.

And you are computer savvy? I don't think so.

Is Opon Imo the same thing as given in the other institutions ? Absolutely no. It is an educational toy and really at best a tool for indoctrination. It has no means to access internet , no bluetooth , no usb .

The idea is not for the students to get on the internet or surf the web, this is about replacing their school books and make reading and learning easy.

Do you get on the internet with the multiple published books you pack to school everyday? You are not making any sense..

Again, it's easy to load the tablets with ordinary flash drives and this could be done on site by the teachers or trained staffs on site which they have.

Again, you are not making any sense..

3. Are the books in the Opon imo free ?

Are the published books free? Do you work for free? Abo what's your free got to do with anything?

A handful of publishers were given the contract to load them.

What do you want them to do? Hire millions of publishers to load them? Abi what's your point?

Were all publishers contacted about the opportunity?

You already know the answer.

No, we don't k ow the answer so please tell us and back it with any credible proof that that they did not. You need to stop peddling your opinions as facts.

Osun State does not presently have a book from which schools can choose what they like.

Schools dictates what students read, not the other way around. Feel free to show us where students decides what they read in schools. Sounds like you're just rummaging through your assss looking for anything to throw in the and hopping something sticks..

4. Can other publishers also supply books fro putting in Opon ifa ? Absolutely no. The recommended book list is ignored. Only handpicked books.

You know this because you've tried and was rejected or making things up as usual? Of course making things up.

5. Can this system be called fair commerce ? Is there a level playing ground for all educational suppliers ? Was due diligence observed in the implementation of this educational SCAM ? Is there hope for other book suppliers to be included ? Absolutely NO.

Do you even know the meaning of fair commerce? The whole process wasn't free so what fair commerce are you talking about
? Fair commerce is goods and service changing hands unless your interpretation of fair commerce is hiring you and millions of other publishers to do less than ten people's job.

Your views are horribly baseless and pointless...

Cos prostitution is legal and so? or cos you can visit Indecency sites through e-tools. If because of that then forget using the internet.

most of the small towns in Nevada has prostitution has their highest revenue earner. If it was Nigeria you would be lamenting that so and so is a bad leader because so and so is a prostitute.

We're always ready to talk about how we so be like one society without bothering to know why that society is that way. Nevada's earnings come primarily from Las Vegas, a city what was found on a fraud committed against the mafia by mafian Bugsy Sigel. If a Nigerian used fraud to do the same what will you say? soon after finding out they killed him. Again, if Nigeria what will you say? Then they used it as a spot to launder drug, prostitution, racketeering and armed robbery money by funneling them as casino earnings for decades until it used crime to become a viable economy which STILL makes most of it's earnings on gambling and prostitution. It has a exceptionally high murder rate and one of the worst unemployment and drug addiction situations in America.

Now I bring this up to show you the foolishness of asking a Nigerian state to copy Nevada as is Nevada is the fountain of great ideas. Nevada can make a policy to focus on e-learning because if you build a city on all of Nigeria's drug, prostitution, and fraud earnings it would probably make lofty expensive goals like this too. Don't tell me what Nevada is doing in education if you're not willing to tell me what Nevada did to fund the policy. What sense does it make to ask Nigerian states to do this if you're not willing to allow Nigerian states to copy the earning formula of Nevada as well? Let someone turn your village into a giant brothel and the tax earnings alone will fund all the Ipon Imo you can dream of.

What's the state's prostitution and mafia history got to do with the state's advancement and development in 2014? This means they are not advanced and a million times not developed than you or that their education system is not superior than yours or they don't have anything worth emulating?

What does Nevada's education policy have to do with Osun state? You're asking us to compare apples and oranges when you yourself don't know what oranges taste like. Nevada can do things for money that Osun can't in 100 years do to the social and history circumstances they're in, and this goes for every Nigerian state. If you want e-learning then want e-learning, but you can't say you want Nigerian states to be like American states when your also dismissing the reason American states are the way they are.

Some Nigerians are funny sha. Here is a governor providing tablet to students and he is being castigated. These same funny Nigerians are the ones that sing and dance when other governors provide grinding machine, wheelbarrow and okada as poverty alleviation initiatives.
Osun state has had PDP and ACN governments. The difference is very clear.

I think Ipon Imo is a great idea, I want ever state that can to emulate it.
The issue is in execution. I'm not in Osun so I can't speak but I'm being told by people there (who can also have their biases so i take it with a grain of salt) that it's just a media stunt and that it wasn't universally implemented as advertised.

If the Aregbesola is actually executing this project then props to him but all evidence point to it being a media gimmick.

My question is this; where are these OPON IMON? I'm working in secondary school as a non teaching staff, we have about 1000 students in my school and they brought 18 OPON IMON to the school in which they came back after few days and get them back. And about 12% of the schools were selected throughout the state and almost 88% were abandoned on this project. @op, OPON IMON can not destroy the publish industries because it is just a propaganda..... LOL Foolish question. How can you buy tablets with government money, which is the people's money and then sell it to students , who are the people? Are you a thief ? You seem to have criminal mind. Better don't try it or kirikiri for you. As someone has mentioned, the tablets are not even in most schools anyway so children still buy books - double expenditure.

Actually, he asked valid questions based on your mindless and irrelevant rants about published books and the program overall.

You in fact skipped the question about buying published books which they are still allowed to buy so again, your rant was senseless. And I don't even see the meaning of double expenditure because it's either you have Opon Imo or physical textbooks, not both at the same time per student.

Think and read your read your rubbish before hitting submit..

Oh did ogbeni tell you too that he bought tablets with his father's money? That man can lie o!
Tell me what was his stated objectives for tablets if students still have to go buy books? Purpose defeated or still being inadequately pursued?

I did not say I want to buy any tablet or is it that you don't understand that simple question?

So, government buys textbooks for senior secondary school students in times past, right?
