Not as clueless as Awo who planned to stir up an armed revolt 22yrs after he had a perfect opportunity to free his people from Northern domination.

The Military is in shambles. The few operational hardware have all since FUBARed.

In war you need to step your game up.

You are seeing the financial aspect and cost on the war, can you put a price on the life of the thousands killed so far by these lunatics?

N3 Trillion Budget in just three years and the Military is still in shambles? Are you saying the Military have not been including the procurement of hardwares in their budgets since 2011 and hope to defeat the insurgents? Even if we need the $1billion now, I'd rather we used trade by barter as the Lawmaker suggested and not in cash. That way we'll be sure the money won't be diverted into another use.
No one is saying the Military should not upgrade their hardware- I personally think we need more than $1 Billion- all we're saying is, lets do it without borrowing. Gbajabiamila provided a better option.
Why must the loan be in cash for goodness sake?

Someone should just kidnap him and drop him off in a BH camp as he doesn't want the gallant young people (laying down their lives to protect his right to rant) the right tools for their jobs. Does this slowpoke know that the budget for the entire Nigerian Army is about that of the useless NASS?

No and none can be, 100%. But we must block the loopholes. If we're serious about ending insurgency, we must try to reduce corruption in the Military, because people who are profiting from it won't let it stop. Wonder why the Army seems unable to end the Boko Haram insurgency?

The senators are scared shittless to convene a congressional hearing or inquiry into Military procurement and defense spendings.

The top brass are raking in millions by having the insurgency drag on.

The rank and file of the Military is inundated with bokos. There is less dirt on the streets of Tora Bora than there are Bokos in the Nigerian security outfits.

The problem isn't as clear cut as it may seem as the institrutions given the task to end this menance are actaully supporting them.

Corruption, fanatical Muslim officers, hausa/fulani 5th columnists and down right in-competencies are at the core of why this insurgency won't end soon.

Have you read the budget in recent years? Am sure many of you have not tested war before that is why you come here to argue the way you talk about football. All the APC people talking thrash are the same. Jonathan doesn't need $1billion to win election that you all know. The man has some vision for Nigeria even though his administration is slow we must give him a chance to finish. When it comes to insurgency the matter affects us all not only GEJ. I pray they get well soon

But I pray they get to realize their folly. And desist from following a meaningless bandwagon of politicking nitwits.

In short I pray they learn to think and not sell their futures and that of their generations for peanuts.

I wonder how GEJ got his Phd.Because a learned person of that calibre is expected to reason better than half-baked.All his(GEJ) thinking concerning Nigeria is how to loot the Country at every ways or opportunity. Haba $1 Billion to procure ammunitions to fight Boko Haram at the North. Now,if Nigeria want to fight war with another country now,how much will GEJ requested for as loan to procure weapons? To say the truth,GEJ has no good plan for this country called Nigeria and the people in it. So dull in everything that can ease hardship the masses face daily but smart and perfect with corruption at all level. It is time for the youth to rise up and fight for their future by opposing all these wicked leaders and vote them out at any given opportunity..

Thank you my friend for telling him.

The problem with Nigerians is that they are so insensitive and too tribalistic. All they know is to create divisions amongst themselves and throw blames. People are just making noise without knowing what it costs to protect our territories. According to facts on ground even if they release all the soilders Nigeria has it's not enough to protect Borno State with 91,000sq km in land mass. GEJ is not the cause of Boko Haram neither is he responsible for military not having modern equipments to fight insurgency. He is now looking for solution and as such we should support him.

Sadly these persons are always in the majority given the fact that successive governments have deliberately kept Nigerian educational system below standard with a view to always keeping the people below elementary reasoning levels. You think it was coincidence that Wike refused to do anything about the polytechnic strike when he held sway in that ministry? They smile when they scroll through internet pages realizing they have majority of the people where they want them. Shameful.

Bro, you are spot on 100%. What can be sweeter in life for corrupt and self-serving politicians than for those sort of enemies of progress to loot and misrule a nation as brazenly as they want yet be fully secure in the knowledge that those they lead are sentimental cretins and ethnocentric folks who will back them feverishly instead of holding them to account? Of course these leaders will never work for anything that changes the status quo to move most Nigerians towards becoming critical thinkers with independent, analytical and inquisitive minds. Even something as simple as a crooked government toying with the security of Nigerian lives, via looting $18 billion sunk into security over the past three years, totally flies above the head of these cretins. Incredibly, they don't even get the crux of the argument which is that a government that worsened the security of Nigeria and decimated our once proud army, when given $18 billion to improve things over 3 years, will achieve nada with a loan of $1 billion.

Nigerians, as a matter of urgency, should be insisting the FG give account of how $18 billion disappear into thin air. No more election funds money should be approved for this ultra-corrupt and shameless government which is only interested in perpetuating itself in power while Nigerians continue to die. In fact, with Boko Haram getting stronger while the Nigerian Army becomes more ragged and the butt of joke worldwide, is it not plausible that the $18 billion sunk into security is achieving the opposite of what it should ? I.e strengthening Boko Haram and weakening our armed forces when things should be the other way round? If it is still the same hands in charge of things then what difference would $1 billion or any further 'investment' in security make?

Jonathan continues to marvel me, does he want to tell us that we don't have ordinary 1 bill dollars Hmmm we re finished in this country as our leaders are all lacking vision. they always act like pple from another planet. only a very violent revolution would save this country from the hands of aliens

Sorry oh Oga. The man is not a SINator. He is a representaThief.

As to your question whether he will do same analysis if APC is in power at the FEDERAL level, consider that he also collects the ILLEGITIMATE mega millions as other representaTHIEVES shocked shocked

BTW, has Fashola provided breakdown of the World Bank loan $90 million as requested by SERAP or he is still in court claiming FREEDOM of Information [FOI] Act is only for federal government, e nor concern LASG
