TemitopeDaniel: EPISODE TWENTY THREE. (PART ONE)

    AISHAT walked back to her office with a smile on her face. She was amused by the way she addressed Hakeem and likewise how she was addressed. She sat down and got the battery fixed, she switched on the laptop and moved the chair she sat on to the back.

    She checked the drawers if anything useful was there, she met files and closed it back. She kept smiling until her intercom rang. "Accountant, please see me now." She heard Hakeem's voice.

    She dropped the reciever and adjusted her shirt before she walked to Hakeem's office. She had been wondering what he needed her for, it must be something related to this work, she thought as she knocked at his door.

    She pressed her lips together and adjusted her shirt again, she had to look nice before him. Even though she wouldn't see through him to know if he still liked her, she still had to look beautiful. "Good morning." She greeted him as she entered into the office.

    "Yeah, good morning Aishat. How are you today?"

    "I'm good s..sir, and your health?"

    "Better, thank you. I called you just to welcome you to this company, the offical introduction will be done in two hours' time so that all the members of staff will know a new Accountant has been employed."

    "Alright, no problem." Aishat replied him.

EVENING.

Aishat retried to the bed and grinned. She loved how everything went on, that day. She was introduced all the members of staff and she was loved. "A nice concept, it's a nice thing working with Hakeem.." she said and smiled.

She had prepared the dress she'd wear to her place of work the following day, she couldn't wait to get used to everyone in the office. She was cogitating on it before she finally slept off.

Hakeem sat on his mattress and kept thinking if he had taken the right decision. It didn't look as if Aishat still felt for him, neither did he show any emotion toward her. Deep within him, he still liked her but his feelings must be well masked before her, so he wouldn't be gotten and played.

He had been reading through the file she brought to him later in the day. He was admiring her handwriting. He hadn't eaten dinner and his friends were already getting set to leave the living room for their various rooms. He remembered how he knelt before the kidnappers and Aishat was being beaten, how he was almost stabbed, how he held on to Aishat again after a long time.

He heaved a sigh and dropped the file. It would be another topic entirely if his friends entered into the room and met him going through a file not needed, simply because of Aishat' s handwriting. "Nice thing, I'll meet her at work tomorrow." He thought and grinned. He stood and gave the file the last look for that minute before he dashed to the living room.

NEXT MORNING.

AISHAT had been working in her office when Hakeem called her to check on him in his office. She wondered what she needed him for again and left the office and went there immediately. She was frank as she sat down before him. "Yes sir." She said.

She just used sir, I think this is going to be nice.. Hakeem thought and smiled. "Yes, how are you today?"

"I'm good, you called me." She replied him.

"Yes, I've been bothering on something. I keep bothering on the reason why you wish to work with me." He replied her.

Does Hakeem no longer want to see me? I'm I that loathsome? Aishat thought and replied him. "Em.. I just wish to, at least my father has sacked me."

"I asked you the other day of what you've done wrong to him, if you did nothing wrong he wouldn't sack you."

I think I'm inconvenienting him, I'm a burden to him.. "Why do you keep acting as if you care, please I don't wish to remember the pasts."

Hakeem smiled. "Alright, no problem. How has been your stay in this company?"

"Nice, I thank God." She replied.

"That was all I called you for, you can go back to your place of work." He told her.

I don't know why I'm bothered, I just feel I should talk to you because I miss your voice..[i] Hakeem thought as be watched her leave the office.

[i] I think I'm a burden to him, he doesn't want me to work with him right? If not why would he call me to ask what is going on between my father and I.. Aishat thought.
