It is rather sad and unfortunate that Ebola entered Nigeria at a time nigerians are getting fed up the incompetence of this present PDP government. I must commend Fashola for the great step he has taken so far to curb the situation.

Fashola, setting the pace since time immemorial. cool cool

What exactly do you think Nigerians put him in office for? Not to protect them as promised or the oath of office he swore to about protecting and defending Nigerians was fake?

You people are backward because you have zero sense of responsibility and accountability or the phrase The Buck Stops Here.

What a sad burden on humanity you are...

barcanista: My dear Obiagelli, yu have spoken well. The Govt of Jonathan is a failure to the highest order. I've given up completely, only hoping that it doesn't get worse before may 29, 2015.

naptu2: Simple measures:

1) Ban all flights from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

2) Ban all people that are coming from or have passed through these places from entering Nigeria.

3) Set up screening centres (with thermographic cammeras, etc) at all points of entry and train our immigrations and customs officials to deal with these cases.

These could have been done since April.

Now, longer term:

1) Does Nafdac have the capacity to test the eficacciousness of new drugs?

2) What ever happened to Professor Iwu's research (which was based on kolanut. Remember zmap is based on tobacco which, like kolanut, contains nicotine)?

But back in the same April....

Labaran Maku said Ministry of Health during the week under took quick checks to verify these reports, adding that so far all the tests showed clearly that there was no Ebola fever in the country. "Nigeria is prepared right now to curtail any outbreak.

The question is, what exact measures what put in place that necessitated Labaran Maku's remark and assurance?

Answer = Nothing.

Just the usual deception, dereliction, incompetence and empty talk that Nigerians pay for with their souls everyday...

Fast forward to August 2014>>>>> How prepared were we when the Liberian primary host index showed up with the virus that killed 2 Nigerians with others picking up the virus?

Where are the designated isolation units apart from the one Lagos state government just put in place?

Where are the first responders?

Where are the trained personnels at border entries and airports including monitoring equipment needed to detect possible carriers?

Where are the National public service announcements to keep the citizenry informed and educated about this deadly virus instead of leaving the public to their own ignorant self help devices like salt?

Obviously, they set us up via their usual cluelessness, incompetence and zero sense of duty and patriotic spirit.

Sadly, 2 Nigerians paid the ultimate price for the FG's dereliction and incompetence and God forbid many more.

In sane environments, this Maku person or any health minister wont have a job or in any kind of capacity to endanger 170 million people...

do you have Arewa and northern elders forum in cameroon? do you hear amnesty international and apc accusing the army of genocide in cameroon, do you have military who pledge their loyalty to allah instead of the govt and country thereby giving information to enemies, or you think the cameroonian army can operate if they have moles and saboteurs among the troops. Ihejirika was dealing with the bastards, before borno elders in conjunction with amnesty international ensure the man was removed and even accused him of genocide.

"A house be divided against itself, cannot stand."
amnesty international, northern elders, APC, etc... Are they the commander on chief of the nigerian armed forces who has the final say on military appointments? Don't make that utterly ridiculous excuse again.

No, but the commander on chief is not a military dictator, but a civilian and as such has limit he can exercise his power.

Between you and brownlord, who is making ridiculous excuse? So the constant security breach within the army front lines, coming mostly from enlisted men are because of the person with the last word on appointment?

I don't know when it will dawn on Nigerians that GEJ is not a leader but an opportunist promoted far above his station in a Nation where mediocrity is indulged aberrantly. Real leaders are visionary, proactive, resolute, selfless, pro-people and , above all, good at producing solutions. They lead by example.

Whereas GEJ, in contrast, is reactionary, incompetent, indifferent, divisive, self-serving and insincere. To boot, he luxuriates in garish opulence while grinding poverty is the order of the day for those he should be leading exemplarily. I am tired of even chronicling the man's failings and shortcomings. Suffice to say Nigerians will soon get the chance to boot out this man who has only succeeded in making himself and his cronies stupendously rich while Nigeria has gone backwards horribly.

In the grand scheme of things, grammatical incompetence is the least of our worries.

you can grasp for straws all you want but the fact remains goodluck jonathan is the only person with the power to sack azubuike ihejirika and he did it!! He put politics and northern appeasement over national security. Ihejirika did his job and when he was there their was a semblance of competence, he's out and every thing is falling apart and you're here making shambolic excuses!!

"Goodluck" is being blamed for not mitigating the issue. Common sense should have told him to shut our borders to certain countries. But we all know that common sense is not very common.

when ihejirika was chief of army staff was there this level of indiscipline in the army? He did his job diligently but to appease his northern interest and ensure his political fortunes he push his out and installed this incompetent charlatan called minimah. Look at how everything is crumbling and he has'nt as much as put him on probation. Keep blaming others for the obvious failures of this president.

Oga please shut up, you've been on this forum where even learned people and youth who are suppose to be good examples accuse GEJ of carrying out an igbo agenda to eliminate northerners and muslims, i heard people protested yesterday about bh, they just woke up from their slumber? if northerners and muslim leaders including jonathans opposition had condemned bh act from the beginning we won't be where we are today, did you hear a general accuse the police of killing bh leader as if the guy was a saint. If Americans decide to be killing themselves and setting bomb, and the locals choose to shield them, there is nothing much obama can do, GEJ is a democratic elected president, and in democracy power belongs to the people, and if the people feels GEJ has abused the power given to him, he stand to be impeached through the house. So the man must also listen to the people while carrying out his duties, take your blames to northern elders and people of northern nigeria who thought boko haram was helping them fight an infidel

Ihejirika, spent 35 years in the army as required by law. He was not forced out.
