The main bone of contention is the demand for the establishment of the office of the 'Surgeon General of the Federation' which they argue should be established to take care of Health care matters in the country, just like the situation in the United States.
But things got crappy when they insist that only Doctors be appointed as a Surgeon General. Arguing that doctors are more qualified for the position considering the amount of time they spend on their course of study. This didn't go down well with the nurses who feel that such plan would only subjugate nurses to the background. The nurses were of the oppion that the office of the Surgeon General should be left wide open for whoever will be qualified to occupy, be it Nurse or a Doctor. They cite an example with the United States were the current Surgeon General is a Nurse.

Yes, that is the general rule but the trusts are allowed to waive that if they are desperate. Like i said earlier, they will sometimes employ without PLAB but will ask you to get it in the first year of work for them. That allows you get into the system and start building up your CV.
So don't let that stop you from trying. You never know which hospital is really hungry for a doctor.

Of course yes. . . perhaps those who are not on the President's side should ask themselves whether the reason for the strike is good enough for people's lives to be sacrificed coupled with the recent Ebola outbreak.
It seems they have no human feelings at all. . . Why not suspend the strike earlier to arrest the Ebola epidemic. After-all soldiers and other military personnel are trying their best and most time paying with their lives to keep all of us safe and alive.

So let's all save money enough to access health services in neighbouring countries, or maybe on other continents for the few of us here that gets paycheck from Aso rock.
