Fact is, this was done with the connivance of the consultants and the medical elders who feel the NARD arm of the NMA has been too recalcitrant. 5 Likes |

phantom: the plan is to suspend residency->NARD can't vote at the next NMA edm->strike is called off->suspension is then lifted. masterstroke! |

drobadebayo: 1.its a stupid move because locums can't replace residents expertise, but of course dis is nigeria we r not day interested in quality of patient care. MCDN, is a Govt agency and cant act against govt policies. Im sorry, u might not like this, but I think nigerian physicians are claiming to gods. 2 Likes |

Good riddance to bad rubbish! I respect Docs heck I have a chunk of friends amongst them, but those requests are insane, imagine, trying to prevent all other health professionals from being called "Doctors of whatever field they are in". The number of prescriptions I have to correct on a daily basis, is alarming yet y'all would be going around pompous like you know all. I stand corrected, but a lot of Docs know next to nothing. I take it on myself to sometimes educate patients about the mediocre job done by some doctors. That's not to say there aren't outstanding docs there. Sadly, they are few in-between. 4 Likes |

parklamson: our ignoramus President continues from where he stop, he can't do without breaking records over records, I don't expect sensible I don't support sacking resident doctors, but I have to ask, what exactly is the "right" they are asking for? that the government should disobey a court order? or renegade on an agreement it had with other health workers? simply put, doctors demands are arrogant, selfish and senseless 5 Likes |

DrWise: This is s step in the right direction by the Jonathan administration. These incompetent fools addressed as doctors cannot hold us to ransom. In trying times like this when ebola virus is threatening to wipe out our very existence, these fools are happily on strike and you want the FG to relax and watch these renegade crumble the health sector as a result of superiority fight?"Drwise" unfortunately for u; u would never be a medical doctor. your sister or even your child might be but it is game over for you. Even your username betrays you. because you could not become a doctor does not mean u should beef them. useless guy. 6 Likes |

Mr president, you got it wrong dis time. Rescind your decision immediately. Looking at it in another way, you have only succeded in saving these doctors from the menace of ebola. Afterall you have refused to accept improving their risk allowance. |

A superiorly mediocre student like gej, who could not find employment outside of a university. You must be a fool. The over 1 million people applying through JAMB can't all study Medicine. Not everyone even want to do so anyway. Preterm mind. Face what is thrown at you. 8 Likes |

dBard: Abeg, park well for one side. FYI, are those things that parade themselves in Nigeria as doctors real docs in the real sense of the word? Pls, shoe get size. Most of you guys are just a bunch of useless nonentities with over bloated sense of importance. As far as am concerned, a road side Agbo seller is more useful to an average Nigerian than your useless lot. Do some soul searching; you'll know am very right. 5 Likes |

dokilolo: seun dis issue affects all nigerians with respect 2 dia health. Sharrap there! So you expect govt to fold its hands and allow a part of medical teams to put it in a tight corner? For your information, consultants are not on strike. The govt got it right on this one. No group of persons is indispensable in any organised sector. Let the NARDS sit and watch their job been taken by their follow doctors. Then, they will realised that this govt cant be intimidated or cajoled to carry out absurd request. Fashiola did and presently the hired doctors are still in govt pay check list. A word is a enough for the wise. Doctors, the early you go back to work the better for you. thanks 4 Likes |

warrior01: Don't mind them, yapping away like they can make any difference even if the government provided them with a million hazmat suits, all they want is the money. Were they expecting the FG to give them the entire funds meant to tackle Ebola at once so they can build more Private hospitals? They've succeeded in rubbishing other health workers, with the idea that they're all that. Some of them can't even find a vein in ones arm even if its a s big as a sugarcane. Political Doctors! Pa22: I don't think it will be an effective strategy to call off the strike but if it is the aim of this move, the federal government may have activated a protracted illness. The Federal government should reopen he borders for doctors by reintroducing USMLE and the likes so progress is pursued by those who crave it and stark retardation by those who think the world is a still object. what are you saying |
