DrLuv: Lmao! who's this douche naively accusing me of committing grammatical fallacy..In what sense, do you mean I made "Grammatical blunders"? or are you telling me you simply can't read properly? ...And to reiterate what I said earlier before you quoted me with your needles drivelling, "are you guys the ONLY PROFESSION?" you think you guys are better than others right because you know how to stitch wound right? You can't type correctly and you have the presence of mind to say I gaffe in a public forum like this.. It might interest you that the experimental Ebola Drug "ZMAPP" is produced by those of us who are into "Biotechnology" and then we are the ones making Medicine easy, all the surgical kits, reagents, Chemicals are all manufactured by us..Can you deny that? I am sure you know if there's NO Biotechnology you guys are useless job-wise. Who is going to find cure for drugs for you guys to administer ? don't get me riled up this morning Mr.Man So next time you want to engage me knowledgeably, You have to up your Intellectual game You just succeeded in wasting my time responding 1 Like |

Doctors can become a medical officer and follow the cadre as a civil servant, then they can experience the brunt other health workers suffer |

A child must obey his father who labour to pay his school fees. If the child decide to attack the father in a commando style or snake in the monkey shadow style, the father have no choice than to defend himself so that other children can continue to benefit his paternal love & care. Federal Government pays RESIDENCY TRAINING FEE of Medical Doctors for them to be CONSULTANTS. The Pharmacists, Nurses, Medical Laboratory Scientists, etc do not enjoy this generous love from Fed Govt but Medical Doctors have continually enjoyed this benovolence for years & at the same time like "Jackie Chan" they balance in a Karatic style threatening Fed Govt not to dare extend such favour to other Health Professionals. Now that Fed Govt have said I WONT PAY YOUR FEES AGAIN FOR RESIDENCY TRAINING & HAVE ISSUED THEM SACK LETTERS AS RESIDENT DOCTORS because of their disrespect & backstabing, rushing into strike despite our National Challenge with Fed Govt paying their fees plus salaries, what will NMA do? 3 Likes |

enny09: When government pay so much to train only doctors residency program in Nigeria and instead of doctors to be greatful they still threatened government with strikes, what do you expect government to do, now government will use the money to employ and pay only full term staff to work in the hospital, and if any medical professionals want residency program you will have to pay for it yourself, simple as ABC.Your ignorance is on a kentro level. |

The whole plan is to make NARD turn against the rest of NMA. It is just a political move that will not work. The consequences are too dire to contemplate. This strike can only be resolved by dialogue no other way. As a society,we should just be glad for this strike. Else,Sawyer would have landed in LASUTH and you don't want to imagine the casualty rate by now. Ordinary private hospital contacts,we are struggling to cope. Imagine if he landed in the A&E of Lasuth? 3 Likes |

Royver: 1. president sacks all resident doctorsAnd all these u mentioned hv not happened for over a month u hv sat at home doing nothing? I expected the doctors to call of this strike the following day this virus visited Nigeria and after we hv won the fight, they can continue the strike. U wouldn't hv believed the support u would hv gotten from the masses then. But I think the doctors were believing that with the visitation of ebola, d govt will meet all their demands sharperly nd beg dem to return to their duty posts.... Hahahahahaha, u hvnt met irony yet! 1 Like |

ejiykzazi2007: And all these u mentioned hv not happened for over a month u hv sat at home doing nothing? stop gloating stupidly! where were you when NMA went out enmasse defying their strike to attend to bomb victims in kano and kaduna? a thread was opened here to support that move but you shameless nigerians avoided it like a plague all because you all were too proud to acknowledge that show of sympathy by NMA. your govt has not done anything to combat ebola. where are the HAZMAT SUITS? 20 suits for the whole of lagos and 1000 suits for your idiotic leaders and their cronies in abuja. what is abuja doing with 1000 hazmat suits now even when a single case has not been recorded?? so that your criminally minded president and his family, senators, reps, ministers and their cronies can continue to loot while wearing our hazmat suits. funny country with funny people. if you nigerians think the doctors will sacrifice themselves for you,you are on a long thing... ask your government to guarantee our protection and that of our families then we can start from there BUT if you think doctors are going to put their lives on the line for a government that has not deeemed it fit to honour people like samuel okwaraji 25 years after, you guys are joking. 2 Likes |

armadeo: do you know how many patients have died because öf NMA strike? Nma strike is not a blessing in disguise like you are trying to nail. FG is not stupid. It's been long but don't tell me you guys did not see it coming! i mean the Sack. i hope for your sakes the sack in temporal and I pray so but its also time for Drs to learn to practice their profession according to ethics. How on earth can anyone reason with Drs going on strikes because they do not want other health workers to become consultants or Directors or intern medical labs placed on CONHESS 8 STEP 2. Now, all the Drs here are talking about effect of their Sacking on national health. when were Drs ever concerned about national Health in this country? they go on strikes in the name of poor health facilities and end up only with better pay packages and conditions öf service for themselves where was their concern for national health when they refusef to call off strike even in the face of ebola? THE FG MET VIRTUALLY ALL THEIR DEMANDS AND HAD TO CHALLENGE THEM TO A PUBLIC DEBATE TO WHICH THEIR LEADERSHIP DECLINED WITH TERRIBLE REASONS What was their contributions to national health when they were on strike? THEIR DECEIT AND MANIPULATION OF FACTS IS OBER BOARD!!! THEY TALK ABOUT SURGEON GENERAL AS IS AVAILABLE IN US AND INSIST ON OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS NOT BECOMING CONSULTANTS AS IS THE CASE IN THE SAME US. THE SAME APPLIES TO HEADSHIP OF HOSPITALS IN WHICH CASE THEY WOULD RATHER RESULT TO LAME REASONS BRINGING IN PILOT HOSTESS EXAMPLE AND REFUSE TO QUOTE DEVELOPED CLIMES ON THIS. I believe that well meaning Nigerians on public forums like these are experiencing a little taste of what other health professionals have been passing through "under" Doctors. THEY WILL HAUL INSULTS OR RESPOND WITH REASONS SHOWING SUPERIORITY AND INSECURITY WHEN EVER ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING CONTRARY TO THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE IN NIGERIA THOUGH THE POST APPEALS TO COMMON SENSE. THE biggest problem in Nigeria is mismanagement not necessarily absence of funds. Drs have run the health system of this country down through mis management. they are the ones who are ministers and CMDs and almost all the Directorates in the health sector are headed by them 2 Likes |

Profayo: Some people are so ignorant of the hippocratic oath,as if the oath says medical doctors should not be paid. They say doctors put money before patients,so doctors should not be collecting salary abi? For your information, doctors spend more time with patients than the time they spend with their own family, yet some fools says doctors are not commited. The only way a doctor makes up for the time away from their family is what they bring home at the end of the month for all the time they spent attending to others, yet some fool says doctors put money ahead of patients.Fashola packed mad people on the streets,he forgot some are online.very daft idiot. Your reasoning level must be so low. Your intellect sef is questionable. So because a doctor spends more time with a patient it means the doctor is committed Fucking hell! aztruth: yes!!!! doctors are also in charge of failing education and security abi? or will you also blame those ones on lecturers/teachers and police/soldiers? use your head. none of you here have actually asked to know the true position of things. you believe everything hook line and sinker from the FG. the same people claiming to take care of Ebola victims only for the affected to say otherwise.the same people that let lectures and students sit at home for a good 6months!!! asup lecturers,1year! if govt has agreed to all demands, why is nma still on strike?? |

Onegai: Everything is good about your numerous posts on this thread and subject except SINGLING out ONLY the federal government to be chastised. I imagine that you are aware how excellent Fashola sent his father to the UK for treatment while at the same time threatening to sack Lagos doctors on strike. Moreover the BASIC issues of sanitation, hygiene & environmental work/ MONITORING is the constitutional RESPONSIBILITY of the states and LGAs, which ensures PREVENTION, which is better than cure. Thanks for your personal engagement in helping out as best you can to fight this epidemic outbreak. |

Na wah oh. Where I work patients were already getting 6 months appointments to be seen in our clinic and that was with 6 residents. So now one or two consultants alone maybe now it will take about 18 months to get an appointment. The surgical waiting list will now be even longer apart from emergencies the waiting list will maybe be as long as 2 years. Who knows if we are luv they may even sack the consultants and close down the teaching hospitals! |

the problem in health sector is that some of the professionals are not good in adapting to changes.the doctors are finding it difficult to accept that other professions are expanding, improving and evolving. they find it hard to accept that Nurses can be degree holders, master and PhD holders.they keep comparing medicine and nursing which can never be compared cos they are two different progression. One says its 6yrs course the other said its 5 years both when graduated are degree Holders. they do internship which nurses will start very soon, pharmacy and med lab are doing the same internship.pls people on appointment drs start on grade level12 other 8,and 10 and here they are asking of relativity saying yet d salary of a nurse on 12 shld not be equal to that of dr on 12 not minding that the nurse must have put up not less than 9 years to 12yrs to get to that grade level 12 that a newly employed dr is starting like wise other health professionals.they don't want others yo be consultants when the body regulating that profession has stipulated the criteria for their members to be consultants saying that they d drs suffer to be a consultant.pls if for instance nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria state that for one to be a nurse consultant he must be a masters degree holder in nursing and must have gone through with courses with west African council of nursing and is now a fellow is that not their criteria? must d nurse go through the same drs procedure to be a consultant nurse?mind you we are talking of consultant nurse not dr here if the doctors feel they suffer too much to be a consultant they shld take it up with their regulating body for it to be reducesl.is it the issue of a director where other proffesionals outside health get to direct and now drs said that even If u have PhD that when u get to asst director you shld remain there .OK 100k hazard allowance for only drs imagine are they exposed to hazard than the nurse that stays with this patient 24/7 or the lab scientists that deals with biohazards everyday? that they are asking for only drs if others ask theirs drs will go on strike .I think the drs shld know that other professions are growing and shld accept that fact that not the nurses you have in 1980 that is around now not med lab tech now but med lab science .each profession in health shld fight to progress and be the best in their profession and forget about fighting each other cos all of them must work together for patient to 2 Likes |

I tink the doctors shld allow the oda heath officials become wht dey want to be and in response make residency easy for doctors and before u know it 2years in d training u are already a consultant and looking at becoming an associate. Doctors are their own enemies.. Why would a doctor spend years in residency? Because the older ones failed to pass him! Outside the country, residency is never slavery as the older ones make it.... |
