Chibok Protest: Water Resources Minister In Near Fisticuffs With Oby Ezekwesili by nanss: 6:39am On Oct 15, 2014
The minister of Water
Resources, Mrs Sarah
Ochekpe exchanged words
with the Coordinator of
the group Dr. Oby
Ezekwezili, who led a
group of protesters to a
planned meting with
President Goodluck
Jonathan at the villa in
Abuja on Tuesday.
Mrs. Ochepe, who
accompanied the Minister
of Women Affairs, Hajiya
Zainab Maina and two
other ministers
representing President Goodluck Jonathan Environment to address the restless
protesters most of the BringBackOurGirls group made a remark that irked the
coordinator of the group, Mrs Ezekwesili.
Trouble started when one of the few girls that managed to escape from the Boko
Haram was called upon raise her concern over the continue captivity of her colleagues
abducted from Chibok exactly six months ago.
Mr Ezekwesili had announced that the girl would speak in Hausa language and one of
the protesters remarked that the girl speaking in Hausa would highlight the failure
of Nigeria’s education system to which water resources minister Sarah Ochepe replied
Oby Ezekwesili was one time education minister. This irked Mrs. Ezekwesili who
responded that her tenure as education minister brought a reform that the present
ones abandoned.
“Shame on you Sarah!” Oby barked back at the water Resources minister, but the
minister responded by saying your reform was to sell schools.
The verbal exchange was almost degenerating into something else as Mrs Ochekpe
pointed fingers at Mrs Ezekwesili until the protesters re-echoed the purpose of their
protest which eclipsed the altercation between the minister and the leader of the
group.
The brief incident nonetheless, the protesters are unrelenting as they sing bring back
our girls solidarity songs.
Tuesday protest to the presidential villa makes it the second time the group had
attempted to march to the see President Jonathan and it also marked the second
time they have been shunned by the president.
The President was represented by the four female ministers – Minister of Women
Affairs, Hajia Zainab Maina, Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe,
Minister of Environment, Mrs Lawrencia Laraba-Mallam, Minister of Land and
Housing, Mrs Akon Eyakenyi.
They said the president was too busy to meet with the protesters, but assured that
he is doing everything to ensure the rescue of the girls.

Mrs. Sarah's impact as water resources minister is non existing as long as Nigeria is concerned. Though kudos to Oby for keeping the #BBOG campaign

Oby Ezekwesili should have gone to chibok to console the parents of the girls and protest along with them instead of parading only in Abuja.

So Jonathan sent Attack Chickens to see if they can provoke the protesters and portray them in bad light. Nigerians cannot afford 4 more years of Criminality, insecurity, abductions and Hyper corrupt President that has no new Ideas.

Oby Ezekwesili should have gone to chibok
Is it the same Chibok that is partially in the control of the Haramites? There are some areas in Chibok where tne Nigerian Army themselves cannot go to.

Watched it on TV and now getting worried about utterances from oby against her former friends and colleagues. 'Shame on you Serah' is highly uncalled for. Same way she goes on Twitter nowadays castigating Ngozi.

Of course, Sarah Ochekpe was heading a NGO when Oby was Minister for Education. And also handled UBE for a state. Oby good at criticism, but never wants you to criticize where she ever erred.

Protest on your course Oby. But you allowing personal sentiments come in a lot with unrestrained emotions. Yesterday was about Chibok girls, and not about Nigerian education system in totality in comparism with your own tenure. The chibok girl would definitely not know what to say on this other than what you told her

Signs of frustration at being JOBLESS and not having access to our free funds, perhaps is the cause of the negative hyper-emotional display.

Whoever is that Minister of water resources is a big thief.

As I type the contracts they awarded for the construction of water research centers in the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria are all hanging for want of funds.

These contractors borrowed monies from banks and used their residential properties as collateral since 2011 and the people at ministry of water resources are sitting on contractors money refusing to disburse them since June 2012.

God will punish all of them accordingly

Say Amen !

An escaped chibok girl wants to analyze the failure of our education sector in her local dialect not English as tutored by Oby this is a student that was alleged to be sitting for WAEC Physics Exam is it not crazy? The rally was suppose to be for the rescue of chibok girls but the attention seeking Oby wanted to seize the opportunity to score another political point in Education, a sector which she dragged back 10yrs with her shambolic policies.
Thumbs up Sarah for reminding the hypocrite of her immense contributions to the collective failure we experience today.

Am particularly glad that Mr President ignored the protesters with few months to the election, they want him to make statements that they can twist and turn for political advantage as 2015 approaches.Protest are free Even in the USA I have not read about Obama directly addressing protesters to the white house.

And for those still nursing the idea of GEJ visit to chibok a war zone keep dreaming, did Obj ever visit borno when BH started even as a militia group destroying churches and schools? Did Yaradua ever visit the creeks in the Niger Delta even Obj when the militancy became serious with lots of kidnapping, killings in the Niger Delta? If it was comfortable then how come we are selfishly blackmailing GEJ When we have a war situation in our hand? When Obama visited the troops in Iraq it was the US military base he visited not the war torn streets of Baghdad.

This issue has gone on for too long. It is a shame in Nigeria that senior secondary students can barely speak or write good English. It is not Oby that created the problem. It is the useless quota system and state of origin rubbish that buried education in this country. In the eighties, you can come from any part of Nigeria and be a teacher in any part of this country. Now state of origin is a criteria for getting a government teaching job. Quota system in educational sector practiced for more than 30 yrs in this country enthroned mediocrity over merit. We have sown the wind. We are reaping whirlwind and she is talking as if it's only Oby that has been minister of education in this country. That Sarah talking I am sure is a product of the quota system otherwise she would not have started mud slinging over an issues as serious as girls that could be her daughters missing for 6 months. Let the President look for people that are credible enough to do his work for him not all these PR disasters in his cabinet.

That is the thing with our public officers offenders. It is when they leave office that they start playing "saints" and trying to con their fellow citizens criticising what they did WORSE while in government without first making RESTITUTION/ apology angry

Hell-Rufai is just another example in this catehory.

So you only saw the line were I made reference to Obama's visit to Iraq? What about the reference I made regarding Obj and Yaradua? Is Borno and Niger delta creeks not a part of Nigeria? even at minimal violence they didn't step foot in there. it was Niger Delta leaders and GEJ that dialogued on behalf of FG with the militants and sold the Amnesty idea to Yaradua.

And regards to keeping the chibok issue in the front burner GEJ 3weeks ago at UN general assembly reminded the world of this girls in captivity. Oby did not see that as an effort been made my GEJ on behalf of the chibok girl.
I have read comments regarding you as an APC attack dog you politicisize everything as long as your views and objectives are not shared.
