When Joel opened his eyes by 2pm, it was to see his wife, with heavy make-up sitting on the bed. Her eyes were fixed on him. He tried to smile.
'Love, where are you up to?'
'You and jordan promised to take us to see Linda. Must you announce to the whole world that our marriage is having problem?'
'Your family is not the whole world Mich'
'They are'
'Let's not argue'
'Yea, let's not fight. Up with you, bath and I will prepare something for you to eat'
'Really? You will cook for me?'
'Sure, aren't you my husband?'
'I am. Come here'
Mich moved closer to him as commanded. He drew her to him and moved his lips towards her.
'Oh no Joel, my make-up'
'I just want to kiss you. Shut up'
No, don't ruin it Joel'
He kissed her anyway. Her lips were so inviting. She responded and that turned him on. He broke the kiss.
'Love, is there anything you want to tell me?'
'Like what?'
'Like what happened during your capture'
'I already told you'
'Yes, you did'
'You know what Joel, shower while I bring your food. I already prepared it. After eating, we will go. I haven't left this house since I came back. Can't wait'
'Okay, but join me in the bathroom'
'No'
She said and kissed his cheek before laughingly running out of the room. She set the table for him to eat his food. She went back to the room and found him dressing.
'Mich, I can't wait for those abductors to be arrested so that I will take you home'
'Sweetheart go on and eat your food. I will be down shortly'
He went down and ate his food. Tara came down with Jordan. Jordan sent a maid to tell Mich its time to go.
'Sir, she said she will be down shortly', the maid said some minutes later.
Joel finished off his meal. He looked up as he heard Mich coming down. His smile disappeared.
'Mich what is this?'
'What is what?'
'You are half unclad'
'I am not'
Joel looked at her from head to toe. She was wearing a white dress. Her bosom looked like it will pop out of it soon. The dress clung to her figure so much joel knew it might get tore. It was very short that stooping to pick something on the floor will reveal her panties. With it was a red heel.
'Either you remove that slutty clothe or go back to your room and sleep. You must not visit Linda today'
'You can't tell me what to wear'
'Sure I can'
She continued walking. Tara saw the look in Joel's eye. If looks could kill, Mich would be dead.
'Mich, come, I will help you out of that unfortunate clothe', Tara said
'No Tara, who does he think he is?'
'Your husband'
'Where was he when I needed him most? Where was he when Tiger forced himself on me? Does he know what I had to endure? No? He doesn't, but I did endure all because of him and the twins he so wanted'
'Mich...I am so sorry. I...'
'I want no pity from you Joel or anyone', she shouted in tears.
The whole place hushed. Joel looked at her, she dared him. Now that she had finally opened up, he felt a bit relieve.
'Mich you are being harsh', she heard her mum said.
'I'm I?'
Joel moved to her side. He held her hands.
'Come, let's talk in your room. Some things are private you know'
'Leave me alone'
She said and ran upstairs to the room in tears. She hated herself and knew not what came into her. Why did she tell him? Was it a slip of the tongue or did she wanted him to know?.
She heard Joel coming. She already knew his walking step. He tried opening the door but she had locked it from inside.
'Mich please let's talk'
She heard Joel said but she didn't want to talk to him yet. After about twenty minutes he left. Her mum came, she still refused to open the door. Jordan was next and she remained adamant.
'Mich, open this door', it was Tara. She stood up and unlock the door for her.
'I'm sorry Tara but I couldn't help it. If you don't want to tell Jordan fine with me but its time I face my fears and tell Joel the truth before I loose him'
'I understand Mich, tell him'
Her phone began beeping. It was Linda. Tara pressed the receive button and placed the call on speaker.
'Tara, aren't you guys coming again?'
'No Linda. How is the new born baby I heard almost killed you?'
'He is fine. Henry named him Miracle. Can you imagine? I hate that name'
'Do you have a choice? You named Daisy, its his turn to give a name', tara replayed
'Yes so he said. What is it that you can't tell me over the phone?'
'Is Henry with you?', Mich asked
'H Mich, welcome back. Henry isn't here'
Tara and Mich explained everything to Linda. She listened, and then said,
'Why are you all scared of telling them? They deserve to know'
'We know but jordan might be angry'
'He won't. You ladies have to tell them. The more time you waste, the more time you ruin your marriage and force your husbands into the arms of other women. You think they are saints? For God sake its their responsibilities to share in your pain. Jordan isn't happy Tara, he visited the day before. Please don't make him go back to his old life'
'Are you sure?', Tara asked
'I am. I won't deceive you. I am sorry I couldn't visit you but I don't want you in my house until your husbands are aware of what you just told me'
'You are suppose to be our friend'
'I am. Take care of you and please, life goes on'
'Okay bye'
'Bye'
The two looked at each other.
'Linda and mother are right. We should tell them all that had happened', Mich said
'I can't tell jordan alone. You know his anger', Tara said in tears.
'Okay Tara, we are family after all. Let's tell them at the same time'
'Okay. But let's sleep a little'
So they slept off. The men forced the door opened after an hour and found them. Jordan sighed in relieve.
'Jordan?'
'You two gave us quite a scare', he said and moved toward her. She turned to Mich.
'Mich wake up. They are here'
Mich stirred and then looked towards Joel. She sat up. The men sat on the bed. They told them everything the way they told Alice Nicholas. The men didn't interrupt them, they just listened.
'Tara I am so sorry', Jordan told her.
'Is that all? Aren't you angry with me?'
'No Tara, I am not. It isn't your fault and I love you sweet. We will keep trying on our sex life and if you so wish, you can speak to someone'
'Oh, Jordan, I am so sorry I kept this from you'
'I love you Tara. What happened can't stop me from loving you'
'I thought you will be angry'
'I'm not. You and Mich will go for test tomorrow morning'
Tara fled into his arms and began weeping. I am a silly wife Jordan. I should have trusted you.
'I know, but I understand. Come let me take you to our room. I think Joel and Mich have a lot to talk about and we are getting in their way'
he picked her in his arms and nodded at Joel before leaving. Once they were alone, Mich and joel stared at each other.
'Joel, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlia', Mich whispered.
He said nothing, just kept staring at her as if he was seeing her for the first time. She felt awkward just sitting there with him staring at her.
'I am sorry Joel, for all I said to you in front of every one. Don't know what came over me'
'No Mich, I owe you and your family an apology. You are right, its all my fault. I knew marrying you will put you in danger but I sure did went ahead with it. I know deep in my bones that my uncles sent those men. We can't arrest them now until Tiger and his men point a finger in their direction. Yes, you went through all these and I failed to protect you. I was never there for you'
'Please don't say that'
'Its the truth Mich. I just need you to do me a favour'
'What is it?'
'I want you to talk to a counselor, it will really help. Again, I want us to continue trying until you get completely healed, physically, emotionally and mentally'
'Oh Joel, I don't think I need that. Telling you everything seems to make me feel alright. No, I won't tell some stranger my problem, but I will talk to you. My greatest failure was not telling you. Now, after letting it off my mind, I think I will cope'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes. I don't know why I married you but I sure know I don't regret it at all'
'I think I know why you married me'
'You do? Tell me'
'Some guy was black mailing you. You were in this porn films with him. I think you were scared the video will leak and tell on your family. You. Married me and took my name'
'I don't know about the blackmail but I remembered the videos. Please forgive me Joel'
'I have. Jordan told me everything and the blackmailer had been captured. He confessed everything. According to him, he was your boyfriend in school. He got greedy when he realized who you really are. The two videos, he confessed that you know not what you were doing because he drugged you. Your friend Karen had also been caught you know'
'You know all these? Do you still love me?'
'Yes, do you know why?'
'Why?'
'You are an amazing woman. We've all got a past. Leila is a reminder of mine. I love you Michelle Nicholas. I don't care about your passed or that you let to silly people get into your academic life'

Yes, Shadrach confessed that when you refused to pay him the money he requested, he came into an exam hall with the intention to cheat. When he was through, he threw the paper at your side. You didn't know and when the invigilator found it, there was nothing you could do. The evidence was there. The invigilator was a lecturer you refused to sleep with. You refused to go down alone. You implicated Karen and Shadrach. You told the school authourity that Shadrach gave the paper to Karen who copied and passed it unto you. Shadrach couldn't deny it, his hand writing was on the paper and everyone knew you three were friends. the three of you got expelled'
'Oh God! I was so dumb', Mich exclaimed
'You were. You could have saved yourself but you were scared he would reveal the video clips on campus'
'I guess you now know all my secrets'
'You won't believe it Mich that he and Karen bought two houses with your money'
'They dare!'
'Yes, and you let them. Why didn't you tell Jordan. I thought you two were close?'
'I was ashamed of my self. So where are they? Shadrach and Karen?'
'In jail of course. Jordan did everything silently. The videos were all destroyed. But he insisted on taking back his money. You know they were also blackmailing him. You know its impossible but he made sure they had nothing left with them. The houses, were also taken from them. They are now your you know. I objected but he said he wasn't doing it for me but you. They both got ten years imprisonment. That Tara's lawyer, Kelvin, is pretty good'
'Hmm. Mum and dad?'
'They never knew. Only Jordan and I. He took care of it swiftly and quietly'
'Joel, since we are talking about secrets and past, can you tell me what went on between Paula and you?'
'Paula?'
'Yes, Leila's mother'
Joel began shaking visibly. He had never really told anyone the truth about Paula. He looked at Mich and wondered if he should tell her the truth,
