PoliticsRe: Appeal-Court Sacks Ikpeazu, Declares Otti Winner by 1andonly: 9:00pm On Dec 31, 2015
Something is not totally clear. Whilst I am overjoyed by this decision, I was reading the verdict to check for logical flaws and if PDP still has any chance.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/196010-appeal-court-sacks-abia-governor-okezie-ikpeazu-declares-apgas-alex-otti-winner.html

First off from this link I will be glad if someone can tell me how the court of appeal came up with the new results.

Secondly, the judge seems to suggest in paragraphs 5-7 that there were two results in those three LGA's. Now I wasn't in Abia for the elections but I monitored things closely and I only know there were bogus results from those three LGA's. The first one was so unbelievable and the second seemed to balance things slightly though still skewed unreasonably to the incumbent's favour. Her conclusion in paragraph 7 muddles things up for me.

Can someone throw more light on this? Because if it is true that there was an intial result that was balanced out before the bogus results then PDP has no chance whatsoever.

In addition, I plan to apply for a normal master(apart frm Erasmus Mundus) in uni of oviedo, infact I prefer d course contents in oviedo to dat of EMMC. What scholarship bodies sponsor Nigerians to Spain because all Ive seen is USA, Germany, France, Canada, UK etc.
Meanwhile I really prefer dis Uni of Oviedo to oda countries because of low cost and higher probability of admission. Thanks
To be honest with you funding specifically to Spain is few and far between. You will find Spanish cooperation scholarships but whether your course is funded is another thing.

You should look closely to your school and other schools as they will probably have funding which would range from half to full tuition waivers.

If you are looking for scholarships, I doubt Spain should be your first port of call and also you should be wary of Spanish visa application. I found it very draining.

The consulate will return your originals....I asked at them when I submitted.
It goes without saying that they'd return our originals to us. I don't think that's the info enigma14 is expecting.

To save my life I can't say if they'd return that legalized copy to you. However, if you're running late I think you can get someone process it for you.

I presume you've submitted your visa then enigma14?

Spanish Visa Application Procedure

I finally submitted my visa application and heaved a sigh of relieve. I don't want others who come on here to pass through the ardous task I went through so I will detail all you need before you submit your application.

I would leave the details on authentication, legalization and translation as all a newbie need do is go through all the previous posts on this thread. Here goes:

1) The immigration officials gain points by sending you back (I am joking though but this is a general feeling I get from this whole adventure).

2) I was told I could only apply a month and half from resumption day-this resumption day is a serious matter; make sure your admission letter reflects this information.

3) In light of the above, be sure to start your application like 3 months before departure because of the police character certificate that expires in 3 months to spare your blushes.

4) Your visa form should should carry the insignia of the Spanish Republic any other form would lead to deferring your submission. The guys outside the consulate sell it for N500 so you can take a look. You have to fill out the Spanish and English form.

5) Photocopy all your documents. Yes everything!!! Be sure to photocopy the back with the legalization stamp. Yes I said photocopy your translations too. If you still have doubts check step 1.

6) Try to resolve that accomodation thingy on time. It can get a bit messy at times and no scanned copies.

7) Review your translations meticulously and try to use a recognized translator.

8 There is really no hard and fast rule about the whole process it all depends if you will be meeting the man or the woman. If it is the woman, be sure to arrange your originals and photocopies in the format of the requirements on page 1 of this thread. The man uses another document and might arrange it for you depending on his mood.

9) Don't go in with a scanned document. You can argue till the cows come home but remember step 1.

10) Your medical certificate must state that you are not a carrier of any contagious disease.

PS: like I said, there is no hard and fast rule to this whole step so I expect somethings will generally slip under their radar like the no change policy so it depends on your level of faith, grace and whatever you belief in. For me I am kind of risk averse and would rather err on the side of caution if I can help it.

Cheers!!!

Pls pals who has ever used EMS postal service for an international delivery? Pls how reliable is it? How fast can they deliver a package from Spain to Nigeria? Pls I need your response ASAP. Tnx
Don't make that mistake. Use DHL. To be sure and with all sense of modesty 80% of the urgent questions asked most times have already been treated. If you are speaking with Rodrigo don't use NIPOST is my advise.

The one I arranged with him is yet to get to me. I spoke with nothing less than 10 NIPOST staff. They all had one retort it hadn't come in. I spoke with Rodrigo he was dead certain it had left spain which on evidence of the tracking number I could see. He even went further to state that in Spain they have several problems but their postal agency wasn't one. I curiously believed him and doubted those NIPOST guys. Look at it this way. The Spanish postal service processes it puts it on a plane (nothing could be more simple) from Madrid to Lagos and bam it gets into Nigeria. Make no mistakes, I have posted stuffs out of Nigeria via NIPOST and I can bet top dollar that they are efficient on that score; but for stuff coming to Nigeria, I can't vouchsafe for them. I had to rearrange with Rodrigo to send it again via DHL which of cause meant more money with me ruing my misadventure.

I still check the tracker because Rodrigo asked me to so we can know if it will eventually come in. Trust me it still returns blank up till now.

You can still hazard it if you have the nerves.

I don't think you need to translate your transcript. I understand legalizing it, because my school asked me to. Ask Rodrigo how he will post it cause you need to be wary of NIPOST. They messed two of us up. We had to post it again via DHL.

I've not bothered checking whether the NIPOST version is around. I was livid but Rodrigo has good customer relationship skills. This is where you might want to consider Vivian.

Quick question for those who've applied for a visa to Spain, how long did it take? I think I'm on the last stretch now, but I have admission for the beginning of August, so I need to know how long I would have to wait to expect a result on average or if anyone has done an application before how long their results too.

I need to translate/legalise my documents as well.

That's all I think I have left.
Hi Bro,

Would have responded yesterday but I was banned for posting e-mail addresses. I escalated the issue and thankfully I was unbanned. You need to act quickly and swiftly. Legalization takes quite a while. Look through the thread, you'd find either my direction or from some other comrade (we're comrades in this) send that e-mail today to be on the safe side.

For the translation my post above does justice to that.

@1andonly: pls can you post the list of certified translators approved by the Spanish embassy? I want to confirm if the Translator recommended by my Erasmus co-ordintor in Spain is on that list or not. pls it is urgent. Thanks
If you look through this thread you will see where I posted a pdf sent to me by the embassy. Most of them however are not certified. if your co-ordinator recommended someone it is likely that they are certified by the embassy all you need do is ask.

However, I used this guy ingles@traduccion-jurada-oficial.com. Name is Rodrigo and he was very good to me.

Also you can patronize vivianokenwa@yahoo.co.uk. Name is Vivian. Compare the cost for all three and make up your mind. I am an economist I make disinterested decisions most times but if push came to shove, I would advise you patronize Viv cause she is Nigerian and a she.

Hi folks, I have news for y'all. You can apply without the WAEC statement. I just wasted my 10k thereabouts.

I was also told that I can only apply one and a half months prior to commencement of the program so I apparently was faster than my shadows.

Dunno but I feel happy about this. Can't really say why though.

Well, I sent the consulate a mail regarding this. They replied with the same old requirement.
I will advise we just go ahead with legalizing our WAEC results till we can get concrete evidence that this is not required. I will be submitting my application by the special grace of God next week and I will definitely make that enquiry.

I say this because you will be gutted if these guys tell you to bring your legalized WAEC documents at the point of visa application and you then need to book legalization appointment and all. Can set you back by 2 weeks.

Every man to his own though. If you can hazard the risk of not doing it, fair play to you.

Talking about logic, dunno if there is any such word in Spanish cause the consulate don't act like it exists.

Cheers comrades!

Thanks for your reply. Okay, I'll do as you've said. Why was ur medical certificate removed? I'll get CTC stamp ASAP. Then I'll be at WAEC office on Wednesday.
Apparently I didn't need to legalize the med cert. So the CTC stamp should be on the photocopy which you should also authenticate at the Min of Education and Min of foreign affairs.

One more question please ...you know the Police Certificate consists of two documents - the one with Police Certificate clearly written on it and the one with the finger prints. So, did you authenticate both of them at them at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or just the first one?
You'd have to authenticate both. The doc the visa officer removed was my medical certificate; though I reckon you should still do it let him be the judge.

Have you CTC stamped your Bsc certificate and requested that WAEC send in your statement to the consulate? Very important!

Cheers!

Tnx @1andonly for starting this thread. Please i need you to guide me with my spanish visa application. I have been awarded an Erasmus scholarship for MSc in Forensic science and wish to start the visa application from the 15th of June. After going through your posts, Please I need answers to these questions:
1. I am presently in Awka, would you advise me to proceed straight to Lagos or to Abuja from my base since the application process cuts across these two locations

2. As I am an MSc applicant is there any need for the WAEC documentation as section 3b of the requirements from the spanish consulate added in parenthesis that BSc cert is needed for MSc applicants, I guess WAEC should be for Undergrad studies. Just dont want to go through the rigors of the WAEC authentication all for nothing.
3.a.- Original WAEC Statement of Result forwarded to the Embassy by WAEC.
b.- Original First Degree Certificate (if going for a Masters’ degree)
c.- Masters Degree Certificate (if going for a Ph.D. degree)

3. Where is the location for the verification of documents? Ministry of Foreign affairs and ministry of Education, in Abuja perhaps?

4. The spanish translator you recommended are they the official translators given to you at the Spanish consulate? Also what is their rate for translation (total costs, I guess mine and yours should be the same number of documents) and how long it took for you to get it.

5. Finally, is there any specific hospital recommended by the consulate?

6. Excluding Insurance cover, overall, whats the cost for the whole visa application process.

Thanks once again, hope to see you in Barcelona when I visit there for Xmas break. My school is University of Cordoba and am gonna start the programme on the 7th of September. Best of luck!
Well my first advise before you step out is to strategize. So one of the very first things I will do is to stamp my Bsc certificate at my former university that is the CTC stamp.

Then I will touch base with the translator ingles@traduccion-jurada-oficial.com. His name is Rodrigo Mencia he is certified by the Spanish Embassy and he gave me such a princely treatment. Send him your documents so you are not caught out in case you want to use NIPOST.

I will also go to WAEC (yes you need this whether you are applying for Masters or no) and request they send my result to the Spanish consulate.

I will go to a General hospital in Awka and do the medical test. I described this at some point in the post. Just tell them you want to do the routine medical check for visa and they'd help you figure the rest.

If I had a friend in Abuja, I will send him my documents with the details I have given on these boards so he can help with authentication in Abuja. I have never lived in Abuja myself but I know that the ministry of foreign affairs is opposite ministry of education.

All these you can achieve without moving from your location thereby saving money.

When you have all the necessary documents requisite for legalization, then send the consulate (with the email I provided) and e-mail. Don't travel yet. Wait for their response. When they respond, you can then travel. I say this because I sent them an e-mail on like the 8th and they gave me my appointment on the 20th so if you travel, you'd have to move back.

For insurance, I have also elaborated on this. When you come to Lagos, go to AIICO. It's not a biggie and its not absolutely necessary now. You can do it before you visa application.

As per cost, I have spent nothing less than N200,000. When you remove insurance it should be around N160,000 and I did not patronize any agent. But then I made a couple of mistakes which if you can avoid and depending on the peculiarity of your application (I had to book down a hostel as my school does not have one which means I had to buy dollars as the hostel said they won't accept paypal payment), you might spend well below 150,000 for everything.

My best advise to you: start now! There is no time and starting early will give you leeway to make mistakes and correct them ASAP.

Sorry I didn't reply in time. I was denied the Visa. Their reason is I didn't have enough money. Apparently you need to have all your tuition money for the 4 years of study including left over for housing, feeding and so on. All I had in my bank account was tuition for 3 years although I had paid my tuition for one semester. I wish everyone luck. It is truly a tedious process with the Spanish Embassy
I commiserate with you really. Hmmmmm...after all the stress this is not an inspiring bit of information.

For translations, look at this document the embassy sent to me. I didn't find most of the names useful and had to resort to my hacking skills to narrow my option down to two. The first was cheaper and I am yet to get it still waiting for the mail and Nipost issues. The second is pricey and will get to you in a weeks time. I am not really in a hurry so I can save some Kobo...
TravelRe: Spanish Student Visas by 1andonly(op):
I have made a couple of minor errors that have cost me some dear savings and set me back by a week or so. So before you submit your documents for legalization, note the following.

1) Send your documents- WAEC (photocopy), School Certificate (Photocopy) and Transcript (depending on your school and what you are applying for) to the Ministry of Education for authentication. Should not cost more than 5K I have a post on the cost above.

2) Take all these documents along with Birth Certificate (original) and Police Character Certificate (no medical certificate needed PCC should be original) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authentication. They will place a seal on your documents.

3) Go to WAEC centre at Yaba and request your result to be sent to the embassy. Do not use an agent!!! Do this like two weeks before booking an appointment with the embassy or consulate.

4) Send the photocopy of your certificate to your university so they can stamp it (Certified True Copy Stamp). Fail to do this, like me, and you will set your application back by like 1 week.

5) Send an e-mail to cog.lagos.leg@maec.es requesting an appointment to legalize your documents.

6) Photocopy all your documents including your passport.

7) Go to the consulate by 8:20am. They will open by 8:30am. Struggle to be in front of the queue and submit your stuff on time to the security. Ignore the number thingy the consulate does not recognize that. Pray that no person legalizing marriage documents is ahead of you if not your name na sorry. The process is pretty slow like government bureaucracy. You will understand that even writing your name and details down could be a long thing (of course it is the security guy that will be doing the writing. At some point I felt like collecting the biro from him and writing it myself)

cool Make sure you know how many documents you are legalizing and have the exact figure. They don't give change at the consulate and would send you back if it comes to that and don't think you will form Don Jazzy and leave the change, they won't take it. They charge N1,600 per page.

Do all these and your legalization will take you approximately 1 week. Thursdays are only for collections.

1 2 3 4 (of 4 pages)
