Politics / Supreme Court Rules On Suit Against Gov Ikpeazu by 1Ebisco: 7:06pm On Apr 13, 2018
The Supreme Court on Friday in Abuja dismissed an application filed by Mr Friday Nwosu, praying the court to disqualify Okezie Ikpeazu as democratically elected governor of Abia State.

Nwosu, a governorship aspirant in the 2014 PDP governorship primaries had challenged the nomination and emergence of Ikpeazu as the state governor on the grounds that he submitted “false’’ tax papers to INEC.

He had urged the court to nullify the election of Ikpeazu and declare him (Nwosu) the governor of Abia.

Justice Amina Adamu-Augie, in the lead judgment, described the appeal as “frivolous and lacking in merit’’.

The Justice awarded fine of N4 million against the appellant (Nwosu) to be paid N1 million each to four respondents to the appeal.

The respondents in the suit are Mr Samson Ogah, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP), Ikpeazu and the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

NAN reports that the lead judgment was read on behalf of Justice Augie by Justice Sidi Bage.

Nwosu had, in his appeal, challenged the judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri which declined jurisdiction in the case.

The appellate court panel of five Justices presided over by Justice Jimi Bada had ruled that it lacked the jurisdiction to hear and determine the appeal.

Specifically, the court held that Nwosu’s appeal was similar to the suit also filed against Ikpeazu by Uche Ogah, which the apex court had decided on May 12, 2017.

Nwosu, who contested the Dec. 8, 2014 PDP governorship primaries had accused Ikpeazu of submitting false information and fake tax documents to INEC.

He had instituted the suit at the Federal High Court, Owerri, presided over by Justice A.L. Lewis.

Justice Lewis had on July 8, 2016, dismissed the suit for lacking in merit.

Dissatisfied with the verdict, he proceeded to the Court of Appeal and finally, the Supreme Court.

Celebrities / #bbnaija: Cee-c’s Family Reacts To Her Revelation Of Causing Her Best Friend’s D by 1Ebisco: 7:08am On Apr 13, 2018
The shocking revelation Big Brother Naija housemate, Cee-C made yesterday in a conversation with her fellow housemates, has yet sparked another controversy and her family has responded swiftly to the video which showed her stating how she caused her best friend’s death.

Cee-C’s sister, Vanessa who reacted to the video on her behalf also addressed rumours of the reality TV show star failing Law school twice, her fake WAEC scandal and other scandals her sister has gotten into since she was unveiled as a housemate of the show.

According to her, the viral video of Cee-C disclosing how she caused her best friend’s death, which is making rounds on the internet is an inhumane act, as she also called out other housemates who joined the bandwagon in the calumny.

Here’s what she wrote;

“There’s a thin line between playing a game and being wicked. We understand that in a game you will try to put yourself in an advantage and the opponent in a disadvantage. But every game has its rules and conscience and ethics demands that we play by this rule.

But this current Big Brother Nigeria has been wrought with so many inhumane acts that gets me wondering. How can a group of people sit down, wake up every morning just to ruin a person’s personality?

First, it was the rumor that Cee-C failed law school twice. BUT THAT WAS ALL A LIE. When faced with burden of proof, all of them ran to their mother’s hut. We let that slide.

Then next was a fake WAEC result that went around, obviously done by a nose-sniffing amateur. A lot of people believed that but it was TOTAL LIES. The picture they used was obviously taken from her Facebook profile. Even a toddler could pick out the irregularities. We let that slide too.

Then there has been lots of other attack on tarnishing her image.

Even Instagram accounts of fellow housemates have joined the bandwagon in the calumny.

But today’s post by is the straw that has broken the carmel’s back. They have tactfully misrepresented Cee-C’s conversation with few housemates to further tarnish her image. Why these bloggers want to ruin Cee-C’s reputation, I’m yet to understand why.

In the entire conversation where they were discussing about the power of words, she recounted where she wished a relationship that was threatening her friendship would end. But unfortunately the friend passed away 2months later which she cried profusely about.

This won’t be the first time anyone had wished they had good thoughts of a person if they knew the their lives were going to be short.

But what do we see? Cynthia Nwadiora is made a villain by splicing the video to suit your campaign of calumny. Because you know that showing the entire statement will not favor your campaign. In what society has it become accepted that thoughts kills? Even in metaphysics, it’s still a debate.

.

Let’s assume thoughts kill, what is the relationship between wishing a relationship ends and death?

I’ve tried as much as possible to be civil in this game. I’ve gone high when others have gone low. Even the vilest amongst us have picked on us but I’ve done it clean. People have called us all sorts of name, but I assumed it’s what comes with the terrain. Because I believe that 85 days is not worth ruining ourselves.

But this is it. I’m going to take any necessary action to clear my sister’s name. You can’t accuse her, sway the minds of people against her and sit in your home comfortably while I fear daily for my sister’s and family’s safety.

@instablog9ja either provide proof that she killed a human being or take down the post immediately. Enough is enough.

And any other tag team blogger carrying this falsehood, please desist.

In the meantime, let’s not stop supporting our Girl Cee-C. SUCCESS IS THE BEST”

Celebrities / #bbnaija 2018: I Will Never Beg For Votes -tobi by 1Ebisco: 5:24pm On Apr 12, 2018
BIG Brother Naija 2018 housemate, Tobi has said he does not need pity votes to win.

Tobi admitted this while discussing in a group conversation with Alex, Lolu, Khloe, Miracle and himself.

Tobi promised never to thrive on pity votes to win the game.

However, she believed that Dee-one didn’t stay long in the game because he passed the wrong message to the viewers.

Tobi in agreement with Khloe said he would never appeal to viewers to stay in the game.

“Dee-one didn’t see his exit coming.
“I will never appeal to people’s emotions or pity to win this game. It is the last thing I would do,” Tobi stated.

Politics / Sagay Panel Asks JAMB To Clarify N36m ‘swallowed By Snake’ by 1Ebisco: 6:42am On Apr 12, 2018
• Lauds remittance of N7.8b in 2017
The Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has sought clarification on the N36 million cash allegedly swallowed by a snake at the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

It all began when a team of auditors working with JAMB arrived in Makurdi, Benue State to take an inventory of sold and unsold scratch cards and to audit the finances of the office in the state.

But a sales clerk in the office, Philomina Chieshe, told the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, and his team that she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.

In the course of interrogation, Chieshe confessed that it was her housemaid that connived with another JAMB official, Joan Asen, to “spiritually” steal the money from the vault in the accounts office.

“I was one of the four sales clerks attached to JAMB office in Makurdi. My responsibility was to sell scratch cards to candidates. I’m not involved in handling the money, it was the responsibility of Joan Asen and other senior colleagues. I only remit money of sold scratch cards. But a few months ago, there was an issue of fraud in the office. Auditors were sent from Abuja. The state coordinator, Obilo, was not around when the audit team came. But in the course of the audit, N36m was discovered to be missing from the account. An investigation was launched.

“I have been saving the money in the bank but I found it difficult to account for it. So, I started saving it in a vault in the office. But each time I open the vault, I will find nothing. I became worried and surprised how millions of naira could be disappearing from the vault. I began to interrogate everybody in the house and office, and no one could agree on what might have happened to the money.

“I continued to press until my maid confessed. She said that the money disappeared spiritually. She said that a mysterious snake sneaked into the house and swallowed the money in the vault,” Chieshe told the team,

But Oloyede had since dismissed the claim, saying the case was that of pure criminality and fraud on the part of an official.

The Chairman of PACAC, Prof. Itse Sagay, who led other members of the committee to the headquarters of JAMB yesterday, said he was also interested in the other challenges being faced by the board that required the panel’s assistance.

JAMB had earlier explained that the fraud was committed before the coming of the current registrar. It said the fraud was discovered in one of the states when the Oloyede-led management embarked on a tour of the board’s offices to ascertain their actual financial standing and their general operations.

This prompted Oloyede to introduce reforms when he assumed office in 2016, including the recommendation that the use of scratch cards should be stopped and replaced with a more efficient and effective mode of pin vending.

Sagay commended Oloyede for his high level of integrity. JAMB had remitted about N7.8 billion in 2017 to the Federal government.

“We are also curious about some other things. For example, I remember in some time past, it used to be commonly believed that if you sit for a JAMB examination, different results would be prepared for you and you will score high marks and when you go to the university, you underperform.

“Has this problem been eliminated? Also, we read recently of some members of staff of JAMB at the lower level who accumulated a lot of cash and did not properly account for the money, leading them to make very absurd defences which have created a lot of fun nationwide.

Read More: JAMB still silent over candidates’ inability to access results

“What steps are being taken to ensure that monies realised from your work are now maintained in a guaranteed fashion that people do not have the opportunity to abuse them?”

The JAMB registrar, in his response before journalists were excused from the meeting, said it was unfortunate that Nigeria had gone down to the extent that serious issues were being trivialised, especially the “crazy talk” about a snake swallowing JAMB money.

Oloyede said: “Since I came here, nobody has called me to do any wrong thing. Nobody has called me and said somebody has done what is wrong, allow it to go.

“People who have authority over me have been the people who are even calling me to strengthen what I am doing. Whereas my fear when I came here was that I was not going to stay long because what we used to peddle in the university was that these politicians would be intervening on one’s activities.

“So, I have made up my mind that if they call me to do what I am not supposed to do, I will go,” he said.

The registrar, who blamed parents for aiding and abetting examination malpractice, said arrests were made during the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and the suspects were handed over to the police for prosecution.

Politics / 2019: Buhari Lacks Moral Justification To Seek Re-election – PDP Chieftain, Sule by 1Ebisco: 2:10pm On Apr 11, 2018
A member of the Abia state Advisory Council and former local government council Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu on Wednesday, said that President Muhammadu Buhari has no moral justification to seek re-election come 2019,stressing that the APC-led government in the country has failed to fulfil its campaign promises made to Nigerian people.

Ukandu while reacting to the Monday’s declaration by President Buhari to seek second term in office told newsmen at a press conference held in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Wednesday, that Buhari-led administration has failed in all facets of Nigeria’s economy, regretting that, the President rather than tackling the teething problems facing the nation, he has indulged in conspiracy theory.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, listed some of the sectors the President has failed which include: security, education and infrastructures, pointing out that Buhari lacked the capacity and qualification to be given a second chance.

Ukandu said,”I don’t think President Buhari has the moral justification to come out and tell Nigerians that he wants to seek a second term in the office. In as much as it is his democratic right, we are talking about moral justification to somebody who needed to take a retrospect, to assess himself if he has performed or not.

“It is quite unfortunate that people around him are not courageous to tell him how Nigerians are faring under his administration. I think the essence of governance is to ensure the welfare and security of the people. And you and I know that Buhari has failed in terms of securing the nation.

“Herdsmen are ravaging everybody, everywhere. Boko- Haram are having their free day ,both in kidnapping, maiming and slaughtering of people. Even Buhari himself, from his utterances, has not helped us to actually devise a strategy of curbing all this menaces.

“You talk about the welfare of Nigerians, you can see prices of commodities are not stable in the markets. Our education sector, Buhari has not done much despite claims. He said he will do much in Agriculture, but he had not gone down to the grassroots properly so that we can have the impacts of that agriculture productivity.

“And we have not seen foreign investors coming to invest in Nigeria as they rightly claimed. In terms of our foreign policy and relationship with the outside world, I have not seen much from this administration. Nigeria has not devised a foreign policy strategy that can give it economic stability. We have not come up with foreign policy strategy that can boost our economy.

“This administration was claiming that during former President Good luck Jonathan time, oil prices rose to so so level. But we saw what Jonathan was able to do with it. But in the middle of this present administration, I think the oil price has gone up. And to tell you that this administration lacks focus, the oil got up, the price of accessing fuel went up.

“Nigeria needs a leader that has zeal for unification. And for us to unit Nigeria, I don’t think President Buhari is the right person. We need a person that has a national outlook. We need a person that can walk down to everywhere in the country and make friends. Not a person that his appointment is centred on ethnic tribalism.

“We don’t need a President that has what we call, “ethnic apathy”. We don’t need that. As for me, with all this, I don’t Buhari is qualified to be given a second term ticket as a person. He has the right. But for the progress, development of Nigeria.

“For us to see ourselves as unified people in a country, I don’t think Buhari is the right person for now.”

Politics / Biafra War: How Ojukwu Planned To Detain Me Because I Told Him Truth – Mbu by 1Ebisco: 8:57am On Apr 09, 2018
Matthew Mbu, a former Foreign Minister and United Nations, UN, ambassador, has revealed how late Biafra warlord, Dim Odimegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, plotted to detain him after the Civil War.

He said he cautioned Ojukwu as the war progressed to surrender due to the suffering of the civilian population in the Southeast.

Mbu said people around Ojukwu convinced the warlord to detain him because of his advice to end the war.

These revelations were made public through an autobiography the late ex-Minister left behind to be published by his family.

The book entitled “Dignity in Service,” is due for public presentation on Tuesday next week at the Yar’Adua International Conference Centre, Abuja

He said, “We had the hawks and the doves, on the Biafra and the federal side that made the contest bloody. As the war progressed, I cautioned Ojukwu based on the realities that were obvious, especially the suffering of the civilian population. The hawks of the civil war were in their own world.

“They convinced Ojukwu to detain me because of my advice of caution. I remember when I once came in from a foreign trip, Chief M. D. Yusuf, my friend said: ‘Do you know how close you were to being detained?

“We were surprised you weren’t detained. Ojukwu was to detain you, your friend was to detain you, we knew he was going to detain you.’ I said, ‘Yes when I came back from my foreign missions, they saw me and they began to cry and said you are going to be detained, he is going to detain you’, because I told him the truth.

“My overriding interest was just to bring peace to the whole situation. That was how I led the Biafran diplomacy during the war and eventually signed the communiqué that ended the war. Some people who went on diplomatic mission never came back again. But I was going out and coming in frequently.”

Celebrities / 5 Things A Man Does Only If He Really Likes You by 1Ebisco: 9:01am On Apr 08, 2018
This article explains five of the things a man does only if he sincerely, genuinely likes a woman.

1. Remembers details you tell him: Due to the nature of males being less-organised and worse listeners than women, men most times forget stuff almost as soon as they are told, especially if those things are ‘trivial’.

2. Never makes you doubt your importance: When a man actively reins in this tendency, and goes extra mile to prove to you in words and deeds that he wants no one else but you, best believe him.

3. Always there for you: Night and day, rain or sunshine, he is willing to do all he can whenever you ask. That’s a sign that he really, really likes you.

4. Speaks of a future with you in it: When he’s talking about his plans for the next five years, he somehow manages to fit you in it, what else does that tell you, apart from the fact that he genuinely likes you?

5. Brags about you: So when a guy continually brags about you to his friends, your friends, that you are the best thing to ever happen to him then you just have to know that that is a guy who likes you very much.

Politics / How Odili Was Betray By PDP, Jonathan, Yar’adua Were Never Going To Be Good Lead by 1Ebisco: 5:19pm On Apr 07, 2018
A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mathew Mbu had narrated how former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, was betrayed by party hierarchy in the race for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential ticket in 2006.

He also revealed how Goodluck Jonathan was obsessed with myopic agenda based on Ijaw propaganda despite the fact that people like him (Mbu), late Dora Akunyili and others championed for a South-South presidency that brought the former President in power.

He said both Jonathan and his predecessor, late Umaru Yar’Adua were not prepared to lead Nigeria.

These revelations were made public through an autobiography the late ex-Minister left behind to be published by his family.

The book entitled “Dignity in Service,” is due for public presentation on Tuesday next week at the Yar’Adua International Conference Centre, Abuja

He said, “I deliberately wanted to stay away from the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. In the game of politics, you only engage in exclusion when you fail to fight for your rights. Jonathan was excluding himself and his presidency was heading for a precipice.

“He needed to reorganise himself and strategise. Politics is not a charity, if you fight for what is your right, and you cannot protect it, it will be taken from you. The South-South got recognition when I championed the South-South People Assembly.

“We campaigned for the presidency. It was clear to everyone that Dr. Peter Odili from the South-South zone was ready to provide leadership.

“However, the PDP primary of 2006 was a fiasco of internal democracy. Jonathan was made the running mate to Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in that convention.

“Dr. Peter Odili, our prepared and preferred candidate, was betrayed by the party hierarchy. Personally, I was sick because of the antics of a mischievous individual who had hoped that things would degenerate to a level that would lead to crisis and a declaration of a state of emergency.

“We are all mortals; President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua could not accomplish much, not just because he was sick, but also because he was not prepared for the demanding office of president. That was equally true of Jonathan as vice president.

“When Yar’Adua eventually passed the way of all mortals and an unprepared Jonathan became president, Jonathan suddenly forgot that he was the president of Nigeria and became obsessed with the Ijaw nation propaganda with a selected few. That was not the idea of the South-South presidency I championed.

“It does not mean a narrow agenda, rather a national service from this once forgotten zone. The obsession of Jonathan with certain characters kept me away from the presidency.

“A Yoruba man, Olusegun Obasanjo influenced his nomination as vice president, Dora Akunyili, an Igbo woman, intervened in the federal executive council for the transfer of power to Jonathan.

Pastor Tunde Bakare of Save Nigeria Group, made the Senate, headed by someone from the Middle Belt, to initiate the doctrine of necessity. So, why the obsession with a myopic agenda based on Ijaw propaganda?

“My distance from Jonathan was not complete incommunicado. I did advise him to properly articulate his agenda and reduce the bogus listed items to three: (1) free and fair election (2) security and (3) reduce the quantum of corruption that is visible within the corridors of power.

“If these are achieved, Nigerians in their ingenuity will fashion out the rest in no time. I proposed this to him because these are intrinsically democratic dividends. No other system of government can deliver them thoroughly with checks and balances.”

“The budget is supposed to among other things show the direction of the economic policies for the year, which will then influence the economic planning by economic agents, both in the private and the public sector.

“Because in the economy, people response to the economy of the budget, so if by the beginning of the second quarter, we still have not had the budget passed, it means that they are having economic function without direction.

“This does not help the economic performance of the country and I think it is rather sad.”

“Whatsoever, whosoever that are responsible for the delay, I think they have to be called to order in the interest of the country and the budget needs to be passed,” Ozo-Eson said.

Ozo-Eson also added that the delay in the passage of the budget will affect the effective performance of the budget.

“Because by the time the budget is now passed either in May or June or whenever, the implementation will then roll over to the next year and this does not allow for smooth execution.

“Therefore, poor budget performance is the outcome of this type of situation,” he added.

Politics / 2019: VON DG, Okechukwu Attacks Okorocha by 1Ebisco: 8:39am On Apr 03, 2018
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, has attacked the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, for pitting the Catholic Church against the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Okechukwu said Okorocha’s actions could further pit the church against President Muhammadu Buhari.

The VON DG said he read a report credited to Okorocha where he allegedly “dared” Archbishop Anthony Obinna that he cannot install an All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as governor in Imo State in 2019.

Speaking with Sun, the APC chieftain, however, called on the people of Imo State and Ndigbo worldwide not to take Okorocha as a “poster card” of APC.

Okechukwu said, “What we lost in APC is because of him. He is a man who doesn’t believe in himself and he tells himself lies.

“My worry is that Okorocha should separate religion from politics.

“I remember vividly how he took President Buhari and all of us before the 2015 election to Archbishop Obinna, who welcomed Buhari wholeheartedly.

“In fact, when we finished the preamble, we were not privileged to go into the inner reserve where the archbishop took Buhari and APC leadership to.

“As a member, I was not privileged to be in that inner circle, but from my calculation, it showed acceptance and support from an archbishop of a big diocese like Owerri Archdiocese, one of the biggest archdioceses in the Catholic kingdom all over the world.

“So, Governor Okorocha should please stop pitting the great Catholic Church against the APC and, by extension, President Buhari.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that echoes from sporadic gunshots and multiple explosions, which lasted for hours on Sunday evening, were heard from the outskirts of the city.

Competent security sources told NAN that a number of insurgents attacked Bale-Shuwa and Bale-Kura communities near Maiduguri in an attempt to infiltrate the town at about 8: 00 p. m.

The source disclosed that the insurgents parked their vehicles few meters away from a security check point and sneaked into the community.

The source added that the security operatives engaged in fierce gun battle with the insurgents who detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and shot sporadically.

“Dozens of people including women and children were wounded from the explosion and gun shots.

“Due to darkness dead bodies were not evacuated immediately because there were suicide bombers among the attackers,” he added.

However, the Commander of the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, denied any death on the side of his soldiers or civilians in the attack.

Reacting to NAN inquiry in a text message, he said, however, that some of the Boko Haram insurgents were killed.

“That’s not correct. There was an attack which was repelled and some Boko Haram insurgents were killed by gallant soldiers.

“However, Boko Haram came with suicide bombers who denoted their vests while running from the troops fire in a nearby community and that led to 14 civilians being injured from the blasts.”

Politics / Herdsmen Killings: Danjuma Should Apologise To Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB – Elliot Uko by 1Ebisco: 10:55pm On Mar 28, 2018
Founder of Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, and Deputy Secretary of Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu Uko, has reacted to rtd. Gen. T Y Danjuma’s call for self defence against incessant killing of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen.

Uko said “Danjuma’s call on Nigerians to defend themselves came very late.”

He also said Danjuma and his group should apologise to Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who had earlier made the call to deaf ears.

He said the call was what the former Defence Minister should have made “since the advent of this administration.”

In a statement on Tuesday, Uko said, “We are watching. The only thing new is that Danjuma has confirmed what everybody has suspected about the military, which is that they have been protecting the killer herdsmen.

“The call on Nigerians to defend themselves against ethnic cleansing by Fulani herdsmen is belated.

“We had known that President Buhari’s agenda in appointing his kinsmen as heads of all the security agencies in the country was to protect the killer herdsmen in the heinous crimes against humanity.

“The security architecture is to allow his Fulani people embark on their Islamic Jihad or expansionist tendencies.

“Danjuma and his group should apologise to the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who saw the emerging scenario and alerted Nigerians over the issue about four years ago.”

Celebrities / 7 Sets Of Men Ladies Chase For Marriage – Nigerian Girls Can Die For Number 3 by 1Ebisco: 9:44am On Mar 27, 2018
We all know how desperate ladies get when it is time for them to settle down. Many of them get so depressed with the fact that their mates are getting married and moving on in life. Although their situation may be pathetic or pitiable at times, one has to consider how they have lived their lives in the past. Not all that glitters is gold; most women end up being old and single because of the choices they have made in life. Not only are they choosy, some of them have unrealistic expectations and goals. Indeed, some people appear to have it all, but one cannot tell the secret battle they fight every day to get while living glamorous lives. Every woman have certain things they look for in men; for some it is love, while some have a long list of traits their future husbands must possess. Many of these ladies forget that there is no perfect man in the world and those who seem to have a perfect bundle in marriage had to work hard to get there.

There are certain sets of guys that women would always find attractive irrespective of their physical looks and stature. Not being able to find these guys often make women remain single for as long as possible. Desperation and age often make them snap out of fantasies. Find below the set of guys women would always chase for marriage:

1. Artistes
There is this thing about celebrities that attracts ladies; fame is something everyone wants to be a part of. Many ladies chase artists who are celebrities with the hope of settling down with them. What many of these ladies do not understand is that most of these artistes are too reckless lovers; the prospect of marriage does not sell to many of them. Most ladies would not mind marrying celebrities.

2. Guys who live abroad
For some silly reasons, women are attracted to guys who do not live in Nigeria. As soon as the ladies get to know the men are not based in the country, they start to develop some fake feelings for them. Most of these ladies see the guys who live outside the country as tickets to the foreign countries they live in. They do not want to know the kind of job the guys do while they are abroad, all that matters is living there with them. They go to any extent when it comes to marrying these guys so that their status could change.

3. Guys working in oil company
The oil sector of this country no doubt brings in money; men who work in this sector are seen as big boys. Not only are they gainfully employed, most of them live large and are able to afford the basic things in life. They are respected amidst their friends and family folks. Ladies chase guys in this category because they know they are signing out of poverty by being with them. As soon as a woman knows a man works in an oil company, it would boost her attitude towards him.

4. Politicians
Politicians in Nigeria are always loaded; most of them spend money anyhow and can afford to go on vacations anytime they want. Ladies chase after them because they know they would make a fortune out of them. Many of these ladies think being married to politicians would give them the life of comfort they crave for. Many of them end up being lucky while some do not enjoy the union.

5. Car sellers
Ladies love chasing guys who sell cars; these guys are rich too and have been able to make major investments in life other than selling cars. Many of them are comfortable and have many properties in their names. Ladies do not want to hustle with men anymore; they basically want a ready-made man who would take care of their needs and help them live a flamboyant lifestyle.

6. Doctors
Doctors get well paid in this part of the country; the respect accrued to that profession is also satisfactory. Ladies want to marry doctors and chase after them the moment they know that part of them. They know their future would be bright if they got married to men like that.

7. Business men
There are some men who are highly successful in the businesses they run; many of them have containers on the high sea and have affiliation with top politicians in the country. Ladies chase after men like these because they know what they stand to gain being married to them.

Ugwuanyi as a leader with “a listening ear”, and commended him for his administrative disposition towards the Customary Court of Appeal, which, he said, was rooted in Matthew 7:7 – “Ask and ye shall be given”.

According to him, “in that spirit, His Excellency readily granted my request for the creation of nine additional Customary Courts in the state in order to get justice closer to the people.

“I must place on record that in all these interlocking provisions , the gap between demand and supply was thin, so thin that the name Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi can rightly be prefixed or suffixed with RRG- Rapid Response Governor”.

He explained that the structure in design was “the product of architectural excellence, made up of two expansive or commodious court halls, a library, offices for Judges and their support staff, a conference room, offices for the Chief Registrar, the Deputy Chief Registrar and their support staff, other relevant offices for the staff of the court”, saying: “The building can only come to us as one big relief”.

The Customary Court of Appeal President told the governor that the Judges and the staff will reciprocate his “unprecedented welfare gestures not only in deafening ovation but also in unblemished patriotism, in stoical dedication to duty, in purposeful efficiency, in stubborn integrity, in the avoidance of indolence and, most importantly, in the love of God”.

Politics / 2019: No Amount Of APC Intimidation, Blackmail Can Stop PDP – Ekweremadu by 1Ebisco: 7:38am On Mar 26, 2018
The deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekweremadu at the weekend said that no amount of intimidation and blackmail by the All Progressive Congress, APC, will not stop the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from taking over power.

Ekweremadu made this known during the PDP, south east zonal stakeholders’ meeting which took place at the government house Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.

He decried that the ruling party, APC, was using intimidation and blackmail to witch-hunt opposition parties to gain power in 2019, which according to him, cannot work again in Nigeria.

He said: “We are a party with history and a party with character. We demonstrated this for over sixteen years that we ruled this country. We are proud of our state heritage and we will never lower the standard. We are governing and by next year we will get back to power.

“I thank the south east PDP for the steadfastness you have shown over few years of APC governance in Nigeria.

“I appeal that we continue in the part of honour. The APC government believed that it can capture power by intimidation and blackmail and it has never happened and it will never happen.

“What we will find out in 2019 is that the PDP will be the David that will save Nigeria from the traps of Goliath and no amount of intimidation or blackmail will stop it.”

The deputy Senate President also exonerated himself from the accusations by the Federal Government that he acquired illegal properties within and outside Nigeria.

“As my people, I will tell you the truth. I committed no offence, even though the matter is already in court. I don’t intend to go into details but let me just add that it is only the politics of 2019.

“I want to state clearly that what we are witnessing is unfortunate and embarrassment to us as a country, a situation where a government in power has tried to use established anti corruption agencies to harass and intimidate opposition.

“They decided on their own to use soft tackles which will never be accepted by anybody not within, not outside. What we have found out over two weeks is that bunch of APC lawyers assembled themselves and called themselves panel for the recovery of government properties led by a man that called himself Okoi Obla.

“As a lawyer, I am sure that common sense will tell you that you can never be a judge in your own case. There is no way cats will assemble themselves and say they are going to investigate rats because the rat will never have any justice.

“Obla and his co travellers think we are all very stupid, There is no way Nigeria or international government will watch a panel to track PDP, it will never happen.

“So, I want to appeal that we continue to pray for this country because the days ahead are very worrisome but by the grace of God, we will over come,” he enthused.

Responding, the chairman South East Governor’s Forum, Chief David Umahi applauded all governors in the PDP controlled states especially in South east for their good works done.

“All PDP governors are performing and what they are doing are glaring in the south east and in the eleven states they are controlling.

“I suggested to the national chairman (Uche Secondus) that we should do a documentary of the achievements of PDP right from when we started under Obasanjo, that of Yar` adua, Jonathan and look at the current states controlled by the PDP now,” he said.

He noted that the said documentary will show Nigerians the difference of what PDP had achieved and was still achieving and what it intended to achieve more.

In attendance were Enugu state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekweremadu, among other prominent stakeholders from the south east zone.

Politics / Nigeria Needs Biafran Inventors To Use Their Technology Move Nigeria Forward – S by 1Ebisco: 6:15pm On Mar 21, 2018
Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has tasked the Federal Government to trace innovators of the defunct Biafra who are still alive for them to deploy their technological know-how towards the nation’s drive for industrialisation.

The Minister regretted that the nation failed to take advantage of the great innovations propelled by the three-year war, which ended in 1970, by making use of those he described as great minds that sustained the then Biafra army.

Shittu, who spoke at the commissioning of Technology Orientation Centre, built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), at Idu, Abuja, yesterday, urged the agency to go beyond the elite environment and trace these innovators, most of whom did not even have university education.

He also lamented Nigeria’s over dependence on import even for its daily needs, and tasked the agency to do something urgently to close the gap.

“I recall that during the civil war, we had so many innovators from Nnewi and other parts of eastern region then. So many people, who didn’t have university education, developed so many technological infrastructure in the East. But it looks like after the war, they were forgotten.

I think Nigeria should look for these great minds that may not have had university education but in terms of innovativeness, they sustained to a great deal the then Biafra Republic Army.

“I think that NASENI should move beyond the elite environment and look for these people who I believe are going to add great value to what NASENI has been doing.

“Again, there is need for us to start challenging ourselves. Number one, up till today, toothpicks are still imported; serviette papers are still being imported.

Up till today, so many small things are still imported into Nigeria. It’s not enough for us to look for the big targets in terms of engineering infrastructure. I think we should not leave behind those small items that we need on daily basis.

These are things that ordinarily if we have them produced locally, will be patronised by virtually every Nigerian. I will suggest that our immediate target like the President has always said, is that we should produce what we eat,” he stated.

Also, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said that the centre will help entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators gain greater access to the necessary processes that will fast track the commercialisation of inventions using local technologies.

He added that it will complement the cardinal objective of the Presidential Executive Order No. 5 which seeks to promote self-reliance in the process of national rebirth through enhanced industrial capacity, especially in the areas of new and emerging technologies.

Onu asserted that no nation had ever become truly great without science and technology expressed the optimism that the centre would play critical role in strengthening the nation’s onward march to a new dawn where science, technology and innovation will drive development efforts.

In his remarks, Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Prof Ajayi Boroffice said with the passage of the Science, Technology and Innovation Fund bill, what was left was the political will to fund the sector.

Earlier, Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI, Prof Mohammad Haruna said that entrenching the culture and orientation of science, engineering and technology practices was a panacea for transforming the nation’s vast human and material resources for economic diversification in line with the National Science, Technology and Innovation Roadmap 2030.

He said “Today, NASENI is providing this edifice where Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) family can come together, cross pollinate ideas, design and determine the most appropriate technology to adopt for the progress of our dear country and humanity.”

He disclosed that the construction of the centre which began in 2013 cost N354,346,921, adding that it houses 700 collapsible-seat-capacity multipurpose auditorium and multimedia facility. Other features include exhibition hall, virtual reality workstation, offices and car park.
