Something is up with her. I wish she and her parents will stop staying silent and defend her.
I went down a rabbit hole on twitter and they're saying she's actually in her 30s because she's a divorcee with a 9 year old. In that case, how is she allowed to compete in the Nigerian pageant? The pageant is for childless women. Its not fair that she was allowed to jump the queue because she came from abroad. |

Magnoliaa: You're barely scratching the surface of all I've been saying. 🤣🤣🤣
I'm arguing blindly, but you just "bowed out" now claiming you'll let me know when you have more update on her family name?
So have you been arguing blindly? You did not have all the details of the matter?
You did not even touch the Xenophobic attacks the young woman has been subjected to, all because she has a different name. Did you know that the organizers of the pageantry themselves vouched for Chidinma's citizenship? Nope.
Abegggggg... I'm still insisting her name is fake. If she is being touted as Igbo, where has the family name Adetshina come from? You insist she is itsekiri. As you should know as a Nigerian , names are given according to paternal lineages. So a patriarchal society like Nigeria will hardly combine names from two tribes. So how does itsekiri make sense? My argument is not about the Chidinma's citizenship, its about her ancestry. You don't expect south africans to be able to identify Nigerian tribal names, do you? |

Because I didn't even insult you. I said something is not true just because you said so, and you have failed to show me where/how Chidinma's father committed a crime.
Which name did her father steal?
Anyway, my grouse in the whole matter is the needlessly xenophobic attacks Chidinma has been subjected to. You cannot police me on what I chose to react to. One Sharon is supposed to mean what? Anyway forget. I'm tired. When I have more updates on Chidinma's family name, I'll let you know. |

Magnoliaa: You've met every Itshekiri alive? 🤣🤣
Nah, I want to believe you're just trying to save face at this point.
Yep. Because you've met every Itshekiri alive. It is not possible for someone with that name to exist outside of your knowledge.
Because every (unique) (African) name in this world can be found on Google. Is it uncommon, yes? Uncommon that it doesn't exist at all, and nobody else bears it? Not likely. I would take a linguistic professor's words over yours.
Sighssssssssssssssss. This is frustrating. YOU are frustrating!!!!!!!
Adetshina is her father's name!
The Igbo name, WHICH YOU'RE CLAIMING IS THE REAL NAME, is an alias!!!!
For God's sake. Damn!
No. You're the only one doing that, and I'm sure it's clear to everyone.
Show me the name Chidinma's father stole, and where he was implicated in identity theft.
2+2 = Edika ikong.
Do you know what dual citizenship means? Chidinma is half-Nigerian, half-SA. She was born and raised in SA, and decided to partake in MissSA the same way Alli was born and raised in England and decided to play for English. The Nigerians who dragged Dele Alli are similar to the South Africans who dragged Chidinma.
Did the English reject Dele Alli THE SAME WAY the South Africans rejected Chidinma? Please, try. I know this should not be logically hard for you to connect.
What are we saying, what are you saying? 😂😂
So tell me, why was Chidinma forced out when she was a South African, when their laws conferred citizenship status on anyone born in South Africa and has lived there for about five years? Six pages of a Google search and she's the only one who comes up. Link me to any other person with such a name? No itsekiri person is coming out to claim the name and you still want to go on and argue blindly? Okay. 👍🏽 |

Magnoliaa: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I cannot laugh. I honestly can't- 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭. You should direct this question to your creator, first of all.
Where? Where in the article is it stated that he's bearing a name that isn't his?
You, you're dragging her father, Lionessza6 and her cohorts are dragging her mother. Una nor go like decide on who is the identity thief here?
Where in the screenshots below did it say that Chidinma's father is bearing a name that isn't his? AKA? Is that all your evidence and basis for claiming that the man stole a name? The article said his name is Michael Adetshina aka Onye Something Something. How DO YOU KNOW THAT HE STOLE THE NAME? Where is your proof that the name doesn't belong to him?
You are the one who should rub two brain cells together and stopping sounding ignorant, clutching at straws. I never said it was a Yoruba name for sure, or that it was a variation of anything. I only said all that to show you that it was a possibility. A possibility that existing evidence highly supports! Infact, after a little personal research on my own, I am more convinced that is a Yoruboid Itshekiri name. If Oritsefemi (and Omawunmi) exists, then Adetshina (and Omowunmi, in this case) should not be unbelievable! There is nothing about "sounding and talking like a duck here," when it comes to matter of race and heritage (see third and fourth screenshot below). Kamala Harris alone is African-American and Indian, and even possibly has Carribean roots. What ethnicity "duck" are you going to day she sounds like? Even if rare, why exactly do you not think it is possible for her father's parents' parents to have "migrated" to Enugu in the past, grew up there, and Michael in turn met a Mozambican-South African, giving birth to a baby with a rich, diverse cultural background? Is it out of the realms of possibility? You think anyone whose state of origin is Igbo must definitely be an Igbo? Minorities suddenly do not exist anymore?
The Igbo name was introduced as "AKA." Also known as. Do YOU know for a fact how the name came about? Do you know if it's something friends playfully call him? I mean, you know what an alias means right. It is not necessarily an original name.
Now you're adding a clause. You DID NOT mention positive acclaims as a basis of Nigerians' support. You initially said we do not accept any 'foreigners' as our own. Point blank. You asked if we would accept something like that, to be represented by someone of mixed background and whatnot, and I gave you examples, showing you exactly Nigerians of mixed backgrounds whom we support. Either by birth or naturalisation.
Sighs. Was this because of Xenophobia? Was this because Nigerians hate the English?
These are not even remotely the same. That false equivalence you mentioned is what you've done here. IF Alli HAD wanted to play for Nigerians and Nigerians said no, we do not want someone with ties to England to represent us, they you have a ground for comparison. Chidinma DID NOT refuse to represent SA, the way Alli decided not represent Nigeria, and neither did she badmouth SA.
Infact, you can argue that Alli chose not to represent Nigeria because he felt that Nigeria had little chances and career opportunities to offer him. You could say that he felt more loyalty to England, cherishing the English culture and life he has grown to love, above Nigerian's.
My point was that Nigerians would usually support anyone who choses to represent Nigeria. Was Nigeria competing with SA in this competition? 😂
It was a national event inside the country. Nobody knew Chidinma before this. And so she had no reason to pick between Nigeria and SA initially, because Nigeria was not in the picture. She was not brought up here. She did not 'reject' Nigeria to chose South Africa like Dele did Nigeria to chose England ?? ?? ??
And Chidinma was born and raised in South Africa, hence her deciding to compete at the pageant? You're not keeping track of your own argument o.
?? ??
Sorry, I don't understand what you're driving at.
Have you stopped being a Nigerian because Boko Haram exists?
I don't understand what your last line is about.
Anyways, these are the screenshots about Chidinma's father's name, and its likely origin. You can see the last one clearly shows that Itsekiris can be found in Southern Nigeria. 'Itsekiri can found in Southern Nigeria" No shit.🙄 You're not making any sense. There is no itsekiri that has "Adetshina" as a name. Your screenshots on itsekiri have nothing to do with anything. I've stated already that there is nobody outside of Chioma with that exact time. Google the name. And can you listen to yourself? If you're saying it's an acquired name, fair enough but since when do children take on the alias and nicknames of their parents?? You're just contradicting yourself. Itsekiri names are a variation of yoruba names since they're closely related. Nigerians pick and disown foreign born Nigerians when it suits them. If Sade Adu and all those foreign born Nigerians commited a crime watch them dump then and claim they're a product of their environment. I brought up Dele Alli to show the hypocrisy of Nigerians. If you claim someone is a national of where they are born, why then are you getting upset they don't want to play for Nigeria? But in Chidinma's situation, she was born in SA and they want to ignore her Nigerian roots for a benefit? In Nigerian logic, you are from wherever your father is from, but when it comes to foreign born Nigerians, they don't follow that same logic. Do you not see the hypocrisy? Chidinma was not forced to partake in the pageant. She had the choice to say no. She is only competing in Nigeria because she South Africans weren't having her. Read my last paragraph again, I'm sure you can do it👍🏽 If a group of rebels were genociding South africans, would you count Chidinma as South African? Or would yall tell her to dust off her nigerian heritage disowned for some recognition |

Magnoliaa: Yeah? They're Nigerians just as Chidinma is a South African. They are all of a mixed heritage.
You realise they these people started hating on Chidinma from the very moment that the MissSA account on Twitter posted her amongst the top 16 finalists?
And she stayed on to be a top 9 finalists until she was forced to pull out.
They even started a petition, on July 24 (when she was among top 13) to have her withdrawn from the competition. The crime allegations were only made against her/her mother on August 7, so I am sorry if I am ready to willingly swallow up shit about her? Possibly as a witch-hunt? INSPITE of the organisation vouching for her. MissSA vouched for her identity, and said that all her credentials has been vetted. It is either both organisations are corrupt, or one of them is, which is a reflection of their institutional ethics. But Sade Adu grew up in the UK. So why is she Nigerian and Chidinma isn't? What's your point? SA have said they don't want her. Why clamour for her to be in a space she isn't wanted? Do you want them to kill her? |

Magnoliaa: Okay. So, I went through the article you shared, in good faith, and was prepared to genuinely apologize if I see anything contrary to the stance I've been maintaining, but, pffft.
I must have come back to an alternate reality after my ban because it seems as if words don't mean anything anymore or people cannot suddenly engage in critical thinking again. Or it's just me??
I went through the article you posted with an open mind, hoping I'll see where it pronounced her father a criminal, but no. Zilch. Nada. Ko si nkankan nbe. WHERE IS THE IDENTITY FRAUD HER FATHER COMMITTED? FUÇKING WHERE?? ?? ?? ??
The Adetshina name?? ?? ?? ?? ?? Why did your mind go to a crime, instead of the beauty of language? Or a cross-cultural influence, or even a personal stylistic?
I have a friend I met online who's name is Boyowa. All my life, all I know is Bayowa, and I was pleasantly curious at that. He's from the South South. There is also Adesuwa/Adesua in Edo, and Adesewa in Yoruba. Will you call Adesua Etomi a fraud and a fake Yoruba? There are other name variations like that that I cannot recall, but these are legitly because of cultures transferring. Yemaja, Yemanjá, Yemoyá, Yemayá are all Carribean variations of the Yoruba word for mermaids, and I DIDN'T know these before. So because I have never heard of Adetshina before, then it must certainly be a case of identity theft? When variation of surnames and phrases even exist between Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa dialects here in our own backyard!
Adetshina makes sense to me the same way Oritsefemi makes sense to me!!!!!!! I am NOT a linguistic authority, for me to outrightly slam the name as nonsense, but I DO have a lot of inferential evidence to believe it's not nonsense.
An open-minded person will not just jump to calling something they do not understand or have never heard before a fake or a lie! You can say that after you've weighed the (etymological) evidence on ground, maybe spoken to a linguistic professor, and THEN make your judgement. But clearly, you've not done that if all you're going by is an article, which actually puts Chidimma and her family in a glowing light than most others have done. The man may be from Enugu, but you know nothing more about his lineage/cultural makeup.
I did not even know about Lydia Balogun. I barely recognise her when she was Timini's girlfriend. Did Lydia become a cross-national discussion like this one has? Was Lydia forced to drop out of the Miss Exquisite Queen competition (which she later won by the way)?
https://leadership.ng/lydia-balogun-wins-exquisite-queen-nigeria-pageant/
Go out there on Nigeria streets and ask people to name one beauty pageant queen, and all they'll know is Agbani Darego. Some will know Bianca Ojukwu and others will know this girl who's baby mama to Flavour (I don't remember her name), but WHO will tell you Lydia Balogun? That's to show you that the people who dragged her are insignificant and most Nigerians do not give a shit.
You do not see how Nigerians appreciate Sade Adu and Aduke Gomez as cultural icons? So what are we talking about here? Nengi is also biracial and widely loved, even came second in BBN 5. If she decided to run for Miss Nigeria today, you think Nigerians will push her out? So, again, what are we really on about here? Was there not a time where men/Nigerians were pushing for Nwanyi Ocha, a Swiss woman married to an Igbo man, to be made minister of tourism because "she appreciates our culture?" There is Tiago Ishola of the Alaafin's palace; there was Suzanne Wenger of the Osun-Oshogbo festival (as a priestess).
So no, Nigerians are not always against foreigners representing us in any right, so long as they are legal citizens/versed in the local cultures. Come. Is it everything that must be spoon fed to you? Can't you use your brain and put two and two together? Do I need to tell you that bearing a name that isn't yours is identity theft? Do I need to tell you that anyone implicated of such is either unscrupulous or has those tendencies? Cross-cultural influence my ass. It is stated that he from Enugu, he looks very much Igbo and his real igbo name was revealed and you want me to fish for a lineage/cultural make-up that wasn't indicated or exists. You're funny. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it just may be a duck. Google the name "Adetshina" and tell me who comes up aside Chidinma. It's not a variation of any yoruba name because it doesn't exist outside of her. Your comparsion to edos and other South South Nigerians are a false equivalence because Edos, Itsekiris are related to yorubas. There are even people in faraway Sierra Leore with yoruba names. Google the aku people They're yoruba descendants. They share history and cultural similarities. Are Igbos and yorubas related as such? When have our cultural names overlapped? False equivalence. You guys mainly appreciate Sade Adu, Aduke Gomez because they're doing things positive. I've seen the way Nigerians disown and claim diaspora born Nigerians when it suits them. . Its hypocrisy. I saw how Dele Alli was insulted because he didn't want to play for Nigeria in the 2018 world Cup. I thought people should claim where they are born? Why didn't they use the logic they're using for Chidinma for him? If a group of rebels were genociding South africans, would you count Chidinma as South African? Or would yall tell her to dust off her nigerian heritage disowned for some recognition? Abeg. |
