EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 10:41am On Aug 22, 2017
it's clear that u don't understand the PTDF scholarship. U're sounding asif the govt is awarding it from their family money. It's their social responsibility, something that must be done and not if they feel like. They hv no right to also withhold the list till now, it's vey ridiculous. Besides, many schls don't hv January programmes, like UK schls.

If pple complain that their names ddnt apear on d list due to manipulations, well that's a fact. Even if 100 pple complain, and at least 1 out of d 100 is a victim, den its a valid argument. Besides, if this scholarship scheme were to be transparent, we would have more than 5/6 from each state like it used to be b4 they started with the special list. it used to be 13 and 9 for ND states and other states respectively, where do u think d remainder of d 5/6 per state goes to? they are d special candidates on d other list, which is d biggest problem of this scholarship. So let pple complain.

It makes me sick wen youths try to rationalize d ills of d govt.
utexzy:
The absence of effective communication I think, has been the issue in this our current Nigerian dispensation, and this has led to speculations and social media rants and bants. We can't really be blamed for pointing fingers, false accusations, hate speeches, arguments and wrong speculations, they are bound to happen when everyone is expecting an explanation and all they hear is silence just as was the case with the absence of our president from the country. THANK GOD he's back. But this silence is rubbing off on many other sectors of the economy, just as it is in this case where we wait to hear from PTDF. First of all let me say that, even though the government is responsible for its people, the people are responsible for themselves. Any help government gives should be a plus, and if they don't, life goes on and we find a way to prosper with or without the government. What if the list is released and one's name isn't on it? Some may say their names weren't there due to manipulation, but if 100 people from one state say this, then at least 95 of them are lying because it's averagely 5 from a state. So, don't sweat it, just commit it to God. Secondly, if the list of successful candidates comes out very late and no one can make it for this September batch, then ptdf will award it for January's academic session. So, no worries. My prayer though is that, it be released TODAY! Good day Nairalanders, let's remain positive ☺

i'm glad to see that someone actually has a good insight abt d delay. Many pple don't knw this
lordblynx:
Politicking, wrongful insertions, substitutions, manipulations etc are the reasons for this delay and nothing technical. To produce the results of CBT is now a big deal?
Which way Nigeria?
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 11:29am On Aug 18, 2017
so when u come to nairaland and someone sounds certain about the list being released d following day, adding that d information was from a ptdf staff. then 2 other pple post a similar info. isn't that an information any normal person, including u, will hold unto? The day hasn't run out, d only problem is that the person that was sounding certain yesterday because of his source of info is sounding unsure today.
Susom:
Well anyone that is not mature enough to decipher which information to hold unto is on their own. This is the real world, if you come to nairaland to get an information that will determine your actions, then am sorry for you. My point is this people will come with all sorts of information and opinion but you should decide what you want to hold on to. Any information about when the result will come out is heresay and permutation based on timelines. You can decide to wait for the list to come out or keep checking here for people that have accurate information. All the best.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 11:08am On Aug 18, 2017
I already advised u guys b4. If u feel u have any information regarding d list, keep it to urself. Don't come here and raise d hopes of others and get them disappointed in d end. Now u see wot it has caused, some pple even dreamt abt it. Some pple here are specialised in spreading rumours, and it has been going on seriously for 2 weeks now, dats y wen i saw d info yesterday, i ddnt put any significant hope in it. I already understand d way pple behave here, and even if d list is released today, i won't regret anytin i've said.

someone is now saying, did they force u to believe? c'mon, dat's a very irritating thing to say. this is a public group, even those dat don't wana believe will eventually give it some thought no matter wot. Someone will just relax and anticipate something, den post it here and say don't ask me my source, wot kinda shitty behaviour is dat? Besides, it's nt all ptdf staffs that knw facts abt d list. Examine ur info b4 posting it here, and stop disturbing d peace of others
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 9:40pm On Aug 15, 2017
huh? so they use their family wealth to fund the scholarship abi? Anyway, most pple don't even know their rights
EngrVin:
I believe we are not just educated, but also learned. All these outburst and comments are uncalled for. Being a PTDF Scholar is only a privileged and not a right. Why not exercise patience and hope for the best!
Cheers
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 10:08am On Aug 15, 2017
so ptdf is only aware of the timeline applicants hv b4 admission is closed? not even the start date of the programmes huh so they consciously don't even care whether d awardees resume late or even defer? embarassed

it's hard to believe that they'r putting in their best, if this is their best, den it's called incompetence, sorry to say

flexisafsupport:
Hello All,
We are all indeed on the edge waiting for the shortlisted successful applicants to be contacted. The PTDF is well aware of the timeline applicants have before admission is closed. We assure you that the PTDF is trying its best to make sure the list is out as soon as possible.

Kindly exercise a little more patience and we believe the best would come out for us all. Wishing us all the very best
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 9:57pm On Aug 13, 2017
okay better, u shld hv been specific on d PhD part. The rumour about awardees being privately contacted is obviously nonsense, i wasn't even planning to comment abt dat, it's not worth thinking about sef
madridsta007:
My message was meant for the PhD guys. I understand the MSc's discontent.
My point is: rumors is not going to help, either real rumors or unfounded rumors.

PTDF has always released its list publicly. This will continue. I am not sure complaining and spreading rumors will help speed up that date.

It is pointless.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 8:41pm On Aug 13, 2017
wot is dis one talking about? are u listening to urself atal?. Aren't u aware that most schools strt their programmes in 3 weeks time? or u think we don't need visa to travel huh Besides, can't u see that there are MSc candidates on this thread? we did d CBT over 5 weeks ago, i wonder how it's not sensible to u that pple are wondering why the list is not out undecided

@michaelella, please i think we've had enough of these false information regarding the list of awardees. If u feel u have any info just keep it to urself, u guys will just come here to raise our hope high, but in d end we get disappointed.
madridsta007:
LOL.

Nigerians are the most pointlessly impatient bunch I've ever seen.

Even scholarship interviews in the West of much smaller capacities take up to 6 weeks for a final decision to be reached. This is just 3 weeks and supposedly prospective scholars are dabbling in all sort of illogical hypothesis and validating these hypothesis with more arguments!

No list is out. At least for the PhD cadre.

At least for those who do not know any strong man, no one has been contacted.

Calm the freaking down guys.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 1:15pm On Aug 12, 2017
i strongly disagree
SHARE4ALL05:
Basically,i think all the successful candidates have been contacted. PTDF would need to confirm from propective awardees about their admission status, the institution etc. Hence,i know that those contacted by PTDF are not bothered about the list, they are simply making plans for their travel requirements like ATAS etc
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 12:28pm On Aug 11, 2017
if u even wana talk abt undue advantage, u shld be referring to those who had access to d questions or d sources of d questions b4 d exam. That some candidates got some ideas of d questions isn't their fault, most of d pple complaining are d ones that told them. Besides, i don't think it matters. Many pple that ddnt get any advantage will still score higher than many of those that did. In fact, there will surely be awardees from the 8 am batch who merit it.

If there shld be any complain at all, it should be based on d fact that some pple who don't merit the scholarship actually get sponsored. i'm referring to the other list and the excess that corrupts d merit list.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 3:55pm On Aug 10, 2017
well, that's wot i understood when u said "1stPolymath, please note PTDF Scholarship is not a favor or CSR So the administration shouldn't be irresponsibly done"

but it's cool bro
NairaSand:
No where in my post did I say or imply that you were justifying PTDF's action(s) and likewise suggest a CSR is a favor.

E be like say I hear english small o grin grin.

Like we do around here, let's hope and pray we all make the list.

A pastor will look sternly into a crowd and say you'd all get the job and everyone will say AMEN. Jokers cheesy cheesy
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 3:38pm On Aug 10, 2017
Mr. man, did u read my post properly? did i say anything to justify PTDF's actions? I rather condemned them as u hv done, but in a different style.

Point of correction- a CSR isn't a favour, as ur post suggests, but a responsibility, which makes it our right, that's why i said they must consider us for that reason.
NairaSand:
It's funny how we Nigerians are our own biggest enemy.

I'd make an example of this thread and list 3 things why we might never move forward in Nigeria.

1. We are not wired to be accountable and responsible
Yes we are not. An average Nigerian is irresponsible. In their personal life and at their Job. Sadly I am one of them. I'm at work and I am Nairalanding. It's okay because my boss and manager are probably watching some home videos or Instagram videos too. We are not responsible and that is why we tolerate irresponsible public officers. 1stPolymath, please note PTDF Scholarship is not a favor or CSR So the administration shouldn't be irresponsibly done. PTDF management staffs are paid heavily. If they can't do the job they should retire or resign.

2. Our Leaders of Tomorrow are buddy lickers.
Sorry for my bad language but it's the truth. Our supposed leaders of tomorrow are largely so insecure that they do unthinkable things. Convict a public officer today and there'd be thousands strongly behind him/her fighting like their future depends on it. You'd be surprised some of them are MSC and PHD Holders. Like many are unnecessarily and shamefully defending the MD here.

3. We accept ridiculous treatment.
My former boss always made a joke. He said an average Nigerian suffer from a syndrome. He calls it the "Thank God they didn't kill me" Syndrome. According to him, Nigerians don't mind suffering, bad leadership, injustice or anything bad you do to them. So far as you don't kill them, there are okay. Too many people here on this thread are like that. So far as they get the Scholarship, they are okay. We are Okay, I am okay.

Nigeria a country of 200 Million people deserve better leadership. The administration of this year's PTDF Scholarship is so flawed a 5 year old wouldn't have problem comprehending why. Let's us demand good leadership. It is our right. Let's be reasonable or we drag mankind behind.

EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 12:44pm On Aug 10, 2017
whatever the reason for the delay may be, it doesn't change d fact that PTDF has fckd up. It just shows that they don't care about how their decisions affect us. They are surely aware of the time required for the awardees to get everything set to resume in time, but they don't care anyway. Any attempt to rationalize wot they'r doing is called "ignorance". Yes, it is their decision, but it's a CSR, so they must consider us as well. It's been approx. 5 weeks since we did the CBT, what does the process entail that should make us wait this long? even till now that it's starting to seem unfeasible to resume at the ideal time. Our scores were ready 5 weeks ago, immediately we submitted our CBT, it's really disturbing to know that we hv to wait this long considering the start date of our programmes. Most schools in the UK will resume in approx. 3 weeks time.

it's just unfortunate that they don't hear/see our complains, that's Nigeria for u, all we hv to do finally is wait.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2017 NDDC Foreign Msc And PhD Scholarship by 1stPolymath(m): 12:33pm On Aug 09, 2017
I was referring to the list of awardees for 2016. we're still waiting for that of 2017
Donmatlock:
Please where was the names published? So I can check. None is on their website except for 2016
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 10:43am On Aug 09, 2017
very fallacious
Prudento:
Trust me, you did not put in as much as I did. I practically ignored other things since last year to study my area of application exhaustively. U see that English? I did not do bad o. But again, I'm keeping an open mind. There's nothing u can be sure of until you see it with ur two eyes.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2017 NDDC Foreign Msc And PhD Scholarship by 1stPolymath(m): 9:46pm On Aug 07, 2017
But there's no score on the list, just names
Donmatlock:
Please, did NDDC publish the list of candidates and their scores this year? The way things are happenings shrouded. Last year was open and transparent. You see scores of those selected and you are convinced but this year. I didn't see the list nor the info on their site.
Secondly how many people are going to be sponsored this year. Last year was clearly stated.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by 1stPolymath(m): 5:09pm On Aug 07, 2017
this arrogant oversabi girl again? don't u understand English? How will "Your" sound in those sentences? In ur mind now, u hv corrected somebody abi? Just take a look at ur other posts, filled with grammatical errors, yet u think u're the best on this thread. The kind of problem u hv is too serious, pple hv tried to correct u for weeks now, but u've refused to learn. for a lady, u're just a terrible mess. that's d truth u love so much

Let me assume that your inability to use ''your'' instead of ''you'' used erroneously herein is a mistake and I forgive you for that. Next time please kind proofread your message before sending it.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria Graduate Recruitment 2017 by 1stPolymath(m): 1:04pm On Jun 30, 2017
Exactly, that's another thing, there's no SRD this year. they said "To make the interview process more convenient and comfortable, we are leveraging the latest digital technology to bring the experience to you – wherever you may be" and from their explanation of the stage 2, it's different from SRD
jayloms:
Finally! Somebody who has an understanding of the "first come first serve" clause. --- I thought I had lost my comprehension abilities when I argued about this earlier on in this thread.

And did i hear people discussing SRD huh For the love of God! am i d only one who read about the new recruitment process on their website huh

Well Goodluck to those in the race!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria Graduate Recruitment 2017 by 1stPolymath(m): 12:17pm On Jun 30, 2017
did shell say anything about first come first serve? or we, the applicants just chose to assume that for ourselves. They set a deadline with a 2-week application window, i don't think they said u will stand a greater chance if u submit yours early. Afterall, some of those who submitted theirs first got served the love letter even before the application deadline.. so much for first come first serve. I don't believe it depends on how early, i rather believe it's how well u did the test and interview and how dope ur application is.

Besides, who are these people that have proceeded to the next stage? Until anybody shows me at least one, i stand to be corrected.
Majir:
How sure are you that no one has been invited to for the stage 2? They said it's first come first serve and application is on a rolling basis. There is a possibility that those who get invited to stage 2 can pass the assessment and get an offer there by making the role filled up.
Atkeast that's my own understanding of first come first serve.
This new pattern of recruitment and assesment was used in Shell Australia. While some were still trying to do their on Demand video others have already proceeded to the next stage (case study).
So anything is possible my brother.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria Graduate Recruitment 2017 by 1stPolymath(m): 11:35am On Jun 30, 2017
i partially read through this thread, i see misplaced agitation almost everywhere, such people need to caution themselves. Firstly, shell hasn't invited anybody from the 2017 recruitment for any SRD, as a matter of fact, nobody has been sent any success mail. When success mails start rolling in i'm sure we'll all know that same day, i.e. if u look out for the right info and not just anything u see online. the galaseller posted a fake letter, that's nothing like shell's letter, it looks unprofessional, which company gives a closing remark with cheers? huh definitely not an Intl company. At least we've all received mails from them b4.

Those agitating for their mails, is it not obvious that the only mails being sent out now are regret mails? seems u want one. y do u have to mail them asking for ur letter when it's not as if every other person have gotten theirs except u, or even post anything on twitter, huh that's really funny. If u've not received any mail, u ought to be grateful and not trying to jeopardize ur chance. If u've applied to shell b4 u shld knw that it's a norm, considering the population of people applying and their scrupulous assessment processes. We can't tell them how to run their recruitment process, they must have a plan in place. So just take some chill pills and channel your energy in the right direction.
