I keep telling people that the South East isn't focused on the tribe of the president; they care about who can effectively govern Nigeria. They would vote against a candidate from their own tribe if they believe that person wouldn't be a good president, and instead support a candidate from another tribe who they believe can perform well.

I know many Igbos who would have voted Osibanjo over Obi, in fact it would have been a struggle for Obi in the South East but then, SW saw Osibanjo as someone who would be a bad president
