No wonder the Jews have refused to recognise mainstream Christianity. With the comments I see here, and the opinions of others together with what they preach, someone like me with a true yearning to questions, peace and joy would find it almost difficult if not impossible to at least give God a thought. No wonder also atheists abound everywhere and are worryingly increasing. The Christians today seem to and favourably too, prefer the New Testament and only refer to the Old Testament when it is convenient. Firstly I believe there's a God who is infallible. I hear the Bible is the Word of God. And I've also heard that 'All scriptures were inspired by God'. But to be honest, the same Bible has some errors, some misrepresentations, some ambiguous statements that are very confusing. So then is it that some scriptures were deceitfully added because I also believe God cannot lie. On the subject of speaking in tongues, I've noticed the Church today gives it so much attention that this thread was started. But asking myself, did Jesus speak in Tongue? Someone here said speaking in tongue can greatly improve your communication and relationship with God. Really? How about praises? Must I be 'mad' simply because am filled with the Holy Spirit? Jesus as he taught us is loving, kind, sweet, caring and humble. So why then will he make me 'mad' just because am speaking in a new tongue? Some call themselves Christians but in truth, the are billions of miles away from the Personality of Jesus. Ever wondered while Jehovah's Witnesses are against speaking in tongue? Those who hype this speaking in tongue thing, don't they know that they are also speaking in a 'tongue'? The same bible told us that God sees our heart. This morning I was just listening to an anchor, at a nearby church speaking in tongue. And I asked my sister, what's she saying? When I was in school, I attended one of these churches I call 'What's Up Jesus Church'. We were about to start the fellowship and the lady who was to say the opening prayer began to speak in tongues! Haba! Not done, same thing happened before praise and worship singing! So I asked myself did the Holy Spirit just came unto these ladies? |

Regarding speaking in tongues, the Bible never tells us that we must speak in tongues. A good passage is 1 Cor 12:27-31: “27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[a]? Do all interpret? 31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts”. The obvious answer to his rhetorical question (in bold) “No, of course they don’t!”. This idea is picked up earlier in 1 Cor 12:7-11, where different gifts are given to different people as the Spirit determines. This is a really clear answer from the Bible (yay!), the Bible doesn’t tell us that we must speak in tongues. Which brings us to the second part of your question about whether Christians who speak in tongues are some how superior to those who don’t, or whether we’re missing something. Back in the first passage the last verse says that we are to “eagerly desire the greater gifts” (V31). But V28 tells us that they are more like the gifts of apostleship (which you and I aren’t!), prophecy, teaching etc… In fact, tongues are last on the list! The gift of administration is even above tongues in this ordered list. Sometimes it’s easy to over-emphasise tongues because they look impressive, when really God values other things more highly. Don’t get me wrong, tongues are still a gift from God and still good, but the exact problem the Christians in Corinth had was that they played a game of one-up-manship based on who had the better gift, and who followed the ‘better’ Apostle - and that’s why Paul hammers them in 3:1 as “mere infants in Christ”. Don’t let whether you speak in tongues or not shake your confidence in Christ! |

John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Salvation is the requirement for making Heaven and what is salvation, salvation simply means the act of being saved through Christ Jesus, who is the lamb of God. Thereafter all these come after salvation, you are Baptize by the Holy Ghost after salvation and water baptism also comes after salvation. *The things of the Kingdom of God does not manifest with immediate effects, it takes processes. Remember the disciples did not received Holy Ghost Immediately after Repentance/Salvation. Princecalm: |

Re: Must A Christian Speak In Tongue Before He Could Make Heaven? by Adwexky(m): 10:37pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Being saved is the requirement for making Heaven and what is salvation, salvation is the act of being saved through Christ Jesus, who is the lamb of God. Thereafter, water baptism also comes after salvation and water baptism is meaningless and ineffective to an unsaved person and you are subsequently, Baptized by the Holy Ghost. Princecalm:Please Note that the above stipulated points are picked from the exemplary life of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the core focus of Christianity. |

Re: Must A Christian Speak In Tongue Before He Could Make Heaven? by Adwexky(m): 10:28am On Dec 03, 2014 |
And there I said SALVATION is the primary requisite for making heaven. Consider this, if a man seek for genuine salvation, forsaking his old ways and God forgive him his sins but the following day, he died, will he make heaven or not? He will, 'cos he is saved. Princecalm: |
Re: Must A Christian Speak In Tongue Before He Could Make Heaven? by Princecalm(m): 2:53pm On Dec 03, 2014 |

I'm actually surprised this unnecessary argument is still ongoing! Why argue a matter so clear in the Bible? The ONLY criteria needed to make Heaven is to be BORN AGAIN. |
