President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday advised politicians to stop sowing seeds of discord. He added that despite the embarrassing utterances made by certain politicians in the country, Nigerians are the ones to decide who will govern them after the 2015 general polls, as Nigeria is nobody's personal estate.

The President made the remark while speaking at a special Christmas service at St. Mathew’s Anglican Church in Maitama, Abuja.

He urged politicians to market themselves without at­tacking him, saying that only Nigerians will decide their leaders at all levels.

He also made a veiled reference to Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amae­chi who recently threat­ened that the APC was ready to form a parallel government if next year’s elections are rigged. Jona­than questioned the basis of such threats, saying there was nothing that should make any office seeker brag that he would win his election.

In his words, “As a politician, you want people to elect you, to perform a responsibil­ity. If you mean well for the country, the country is nobody’s personal estate but you want to serve. If people want you to serve, you serve, if they say no, you leave”

“Those who take govern­ment by violence, look at African countries, those who kill to take power, they never end well. Few cases, yes, probably in a society not everybody goes the same way but on the aver­age one has recently happened in west Africa.”

That was why that body was created by the constitution.”

“But if we abuse our­selves, kill ourselves to be in office, then who will fin­ish serving and still want to attend the Council of State meeting for somebody who probably abused you through life, it is not pos­sible.”

“For us who are look­ing for various offices, we should just talk about what we can do for Nigerians, you can market yourself but not to sow the seed of discord.”

“For a politician to stand up, who is even a Christian to say that if he fails elec­tion, he will form a parallel government. What makes him feel that he must win the election? Even me as a serving president, what makes me feel I must win the election, no matter what I think I am? Nige­rians will decide who will govern them at the state level, or federal level, state assemblies or the National Assembly in terms of the federal constituencies and the senatorial districts.”

“It is not you – who is looking for the office – to think that you are the best person to be there. Are you the most qualified person, even by certificates? Are you telling me your certificate is larger than that of others, or you even have more certificates? It is the choice of the people and the will of God”. The president concluded.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to give 40 per cent of appointments in his cabinet to youths, if he wins the 2019 presidential election.

Atiku made the pledge yesterday at the inauguration of the national and state executives of a pro Atiku group, Intellectual Think-Tank for Atiku (ITTA) in Abuja.

The former Vice President, who was represented at the inauguration by the Chairman of All Atiku Support Group (AASUG) Mr Oladimeji Fabiyi, said: “Having identified the critical role of youths in the emergence of any leader, I pledge to give youths 40 per cent of appointments in my cabinet if elected as the president of Nigeria in 2019.

“As a youth friendly leader who thinks and understands the feelings of youth, I urge them to give me the chance to make their dreams possible”.

His wide, Mrs. Titi Abubakar, represented by Sen. Grace Bent, said that her husband deserved to be the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2019 presidential election.

She said Atiku was the right man with the political stamina to wrestle and return power back to PDP and Nigerians.

In his acceptance, the National Coordinator, ITTA, Mr Theophilus Ohuoba, said that group would get down to work immediately.

Ohuoba said that the zonal and state coordinators of the group would go back to their various bases to inaugurate their executives.

He said they would move to the grassroots to mobilise delegates and voters to support Atiku’s candidacy.

Nigeria’s Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Senator Shehu Sani has described former defence Minister, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma’s statement, as a clear indication that the nation was ‘tip toeing through a minefield’.

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district spoke in reaction to the former defence Minister’s call on Nigerians “to defend themselves against herdsmen attacks”, across the country.

The former Minister in his speech at the maiden convocation ceremony of the Taraba State University on Saturday in Jalingo accused Nigeria military of complicity in killings by herders across the country.

Danjuma who was former Chief of staff insisted that indigenes of the affected areas should stop believing that the security forces will protect them.

In a post on his Facebook page, Sani urged Nigerians to spare the elder statesman of criticism, adding that Danjuma knew President Muhammadu Buhari more than any one else.

“You can’t claim to know Buhari more than Danjuma does.

“You can’t lecture Buhari and Danjuma about WAR and PEACE.’

“Buhari has heard Danjuma’s Radio message. And I believe he has decoded the message.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reacted to the statement credited to elder statesman and former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Danjuma, who called for self-defense against Fulani herdsmen.

Danjuma, while speaking on Saturday at the maiden convocation ceremony of Taraba sSate University in Jalingo, called on Nigerians to defend themselves against ethnic cleansing.

According to him, it was regrettable that the Nigeria Army was no more neural in the fight against terrorism in the country, stressing that “the Army collude, aide and provide shield to terrorist activities.”

Reacting to his observation, IPOB in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, faulted the former military boss for refusing to speak when the problem started.

IPOB said the killings allegedly orchestrated by herdsmen escalated because people like Danjuma refused to speak, but were rather busy vilifying its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The statement noted that Danjuma only re-echoed what its leader, Kanu had been saying over the atrocities being meted on its members by the Nigerian Army.

He said, “What Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said in 2014 is being re-echoed across the political landscape of Nigeria by no other than the very influential Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma, who can be rightly classified as part of the northern ruling elite.

“Every categorical statement, prediction and utterance of our leader has come to pass. What is happening before our eyes today was foretold by our leader many years back and had those in power in Abuja listened to him rather than lock him up without trial, thousands of innocent lives could have been saved across Nigeria.

“We state without any equivocation that all those killed by marauding Fulani herdsmen and the Nigerian military that provides them covert support died in vain because people like TY Danjuma initially supported the oppressors and vilified Mazi Nnamdi Kanu instead of paying careful attention to what he was saying.

“The same way the likes of TY Danjuma from the Middle Belt have woken up to the reality of the failed state that Nigeria has become, hopefully, so will South East governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and PANDEF do in the coming months. Assuming they will take a leaf from Danjuma and have the courage to speak the truth as boldly as Danjuma has done. Going by their previous slavish antecedents, it remains doubtful they will ever do so because of their lowly status in the affairs of Nigeria.

“The question we are asking is why didn’t Danjuma use places like Yemen Libya, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, etc to cite as an example? He mentioned the same country as Kanu did because he can now see clearly where Nigeria is heading to. This implies that these same people who publicly condemned the style of agitation of IPOB were secretly listening to our leader all the time but stubbornly refused to do something about the injustices he was preaching against.

Corporate prayer:
A fifth type of prayer is corporate prayer. The early church "all joined together constantly in prayer" (Acts 1:14 NIV) and was devoted to prayer together (Acts 2:42). While praying alone is an important part of Christian growth, praying together serves a unique role that combines the power of prayer with community among believers.

Prayer of Consecration:
A sixth type of prayer can be called a prayer of consecration. Jesus is our example in this area. On the night before His death, He prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will" (Matthew 26:39).

These and others types of prayer all acknowledge our complete dependence upon the Lord's help for our daily needs. The Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 offers a model prayer we can also use in praising and making our requests known to God.
