CHAPTER 2
ANNABELLE JONES

Annie as she is popularly called was a beauty to behold..She just gained admission into the University Of Lagos to study Law.

She was the only child her mother had. Her mother gave birth to her eighteen years ago by a Spanish man. She remembered her mother telling her the story of her birth when she was only ten years old and was being ridiculed at school because she had no father. Her mother was being called several awful names like whor.e and prostitute.

Her mother explained to her the circumstances behind her birth,and how her father went back to Spain and was meant to come back later for them."But he hasn't come?" She remembered asking,but her mother promised her that her father will surely come back for them. No wonder she never married,she had that much trust in Jones,her father.

Eight years after,She had grown into a beautiful damsel. She was tall,fair,and graceful. Many guys would like to have her. But she knew she had to be careful,if she didn't want to go her mother's path. She still had a long way to go,like graduate from law school,and make an impact in the world. She loves dancing,making friends,reading,travelling,and writing. She wished to be a detector one day.

As she hurried to her faculty office in her department to complete her clearance,she collided with a guy,she murmured a quick sorry without looking up and continued,but the guy wouldn't bug and dragged her back."Not so quick,pretty" he teased. she was forced to look at him,and was surprised by how handsome he was,she was yet to see any cute guy yet at school. Wow,Femi didn't see her face at first and knew she would be one of those freshers at school. He was just coming from Mr Banjoko's office after settling Him and resolving issues.

They were both staring at each other different thoughts running through there heads,after what seems like minutes,Annabelle spoke."Hey" she said. Femi smiled at her,putting his thoughts together,and spoke "where have you been?" He asked. Annie rolled her eyes,"well have been in Nigeria" she replied. "Lol,I know,I meant in school here"he said. "Am a fresher, am just going for my clearance"she said. "I know you are fresh"he teased. "Sorry am going to do my clearance" she said and made to leave,she didn't have time for chit chat,she had plans to finish up her clearance today and get her hostel soon.

Femi wasn't ready to let her go,"ok I understand,but please what is your name?" He asked. "Ok am annabelle,can I go now?" She asked,even though she was itching to know his name. "Well,wouldn't you like to find out my name?" He asked,"you would tell me,if you wanted to" she countered. "Well,am Femi,by name" he smiled. Hope "you won't mind giving me your number?"He asked. Annie wasn't ready to fall prey to his charms,though she would willingly give him her number,but she wanted to make him beg for it though."Am sorry,I can't" she said..hmmm Femi thought,He knew her type,and he knows just what to do,he didn't have time for all this chit chat of a thing and he needed to meet her again..he saw the file in her hand,and hurriedly dragged it from her and left her side before she could blink..

Wow,what just happened,she thought..gosh,and she needed to finish her clearance before noon tomorrow..where would she start looking for Femi now? She kind of liked what he did though,and at least she would meet him one more time. but its all at the expense of her clearance,she ll just do it tomorrow..just then she saw Helen,her new friend,walking towards her.

"Wasn't that Femi?"She asked, "Yes,his name is Femi" Do you know him? Annie asked. "Of course he is very popular on campus" helen replied,so why did he take your documents? She asked,cause I was watching the scene from a distance" well.....,Annie started to explain the whole scenario.."hmmm, I know his place though,you can go there later in the evening,its not far from school"helen said. Really? Annie asked,obviously excited. "Yeah,I would show you after my lectures at six pm,you can stay at my hostel for the main time till you get yours though,have the keys". Helen handed her hostel keys to her. "Thanks dear" annie said and hugged her. "See you later,after class" helen replied and walked to her lecture hall.

Annie went to Helen's room to wait for her. Today was one of those days,she thought and soon slept off...

When Helen came back from lectures,she met Annie asleep,and woke her up so she could show her Femi's place and come back to study.

"This is the place" helen told her few minutes later. It wasn't even far to school. The house was a very big one and she wondered what a student would need it for. "Let's go together please" she tried to persuade Helen,but it seemed her mind was made up.."meet me at the hostel"she said and started to walk back.

Annie took a bold step and knocked the door..seconds later,the door was opened by an average looking guy and soon another guy,a very good looking one joined Him at the door...and they were both staring at her like zombies.

She had to find out if Helen had given her the right location though. She decided to break the silence."Well is this Femi's apartment?" She asked and the average looking one answered her"ErrrrRmmm,yes it is",he said and she was relived,but where was he? And who were this two hunks? "So what's your name? So we can tell him you came" the other cute one asked..

awww dear, all i see is a nicely written story You know i'm not into literature Even if there's something to correct there I wouldn't see it I'm only reading to enjoy the story, I love reading Prose

CHAPTER THREE

THE BEGINNING OF A LOVE STORY

"Come in" Jide ushered her in,while Bayo went inside to call Femi.

Annabelle sat on the couch,and waited for Femi. Jide sat beside her hoping to start a conversation. "So you are Annabelle?" He asked once again,as if he just heard the name for the first time. "Yes,but you can call me Annie,my friends call me that instead" She replied him. "Am glad am your friend" he chuckled. She looked at him with a blank face,but then noticed the dimple in his smile,and she smiled back at him.

Just then,Femi came in with her documents and saw her smiling at a Jide,he felt a pinch of jealousy but just waved it off. He cleared his throat and they both looked up suddenly as if they'd been discussing something private.

" What's going on here?" Femi asked looking at Jide. Annabelle stood up"I have just come to pick up my documents that was taken forcefully from me" She said giving Jide enough time to leave. "Here it is" Femi replied,raising her document up for her to see. She made to take it and then he withdrew it from her. "Only on one condition" he commanded,"what?" She asked "your number,please?" He asked, "no problem" she said and called out her number for him. And he gave her documents back to her. She made to leave,but he tried to make her wait,but it yielded no result,as she was bent on collecting her documents and leaving. He escorted her out and bade her safe journey.

On getting back to the hostel,Helen wasn't around. She jumped on the bed and was about to analyse her day,when her phone started vibrating. Who could that be? She thought. She picked the call and the voice said "hello Annie".

"Hello" she replied

"This your friend,Jide" the voice said

"Oh,Jiiide,I almost thought it was Femi"she said.

"How are you and don't tell me Femi gave you my number?"She asked

"He didn't,that's a discussion for another day,when we meet" Jide said

"Okay"she said.

"Well just called to say hey and to tell you to save my number" Jide said.

"Alright, I will surely do that dear" she said and hung up.

She liked to always be the one to cut the call,when a guy called as she read in her relationship books.

She was about to lie down back on the bed ,when the dooebell rang. She stood up and walked towards the door to open it,thinking it was Helen,but it was just three other girls,and she guessed they must be Helen's room mates.

They were very pretty girls,light skin and sexy.. As they entered, they started talking about the lectureres that were asking them out. She wasn't interested in all that,thus,she went back to bed. As she laid her head on the pillow to think about the day,once again her telephone interrupted her thoughts, she grumbled and then picked the call.

Another strange number? She thought. The voice on the line sounded in a hurry "hello Annie,this Helen,I won't be coming home tonight so don't expect me.have fun sweety.love you,bye" and then cut. Helen? She thought.

She checked the time,it was past eight in the evening. She wasn't so close to Helen yet,but she liked her person. Where could she have gone? She thought. Her phone vibrated once again,another unknown number? She thought it was Helen calling back..so she said "Helen,where are you going? We need to gist"
"Gist about what?" A male voice said at the other end of the line.
"Oops my bad,sorry,who am I on to?" she asked. "This is Femi" He replied.
And then they talked for about thirty minutes almost about nothing and then she cut the call smiling sheepishly.

One of Helen's roommates asked her why she was smiling on the phone? And she replied "nothing,am sorry,am going to bed." It was almost nine pm and she had a lot to do tomorrow,with the registration still on her mind. She bade them goodnight and dozed off.
