Vikkie14:Bro. U need to read up about Fukushima Power Plant. U want Nigeria that has bad maintenance culture to go and start generating with Nuclear, that's the very wrong move to take now. |

Collynzo9: I have read your previous comments regarding the power sector in Nigeria and you seem to me, to be a fellow strong coal advocate. Kudos dude, I just don't know what Nigeria has been waiting for all these years, but I guess that's just the surreal nature of Nigeria on display; A country stuck in limbo. |
Re: FG To Commence Work On Three Coal Power Plants by Vikkie14: 5:49pm On Jan 05, 2015 |
Hardetayour:Bro, you should have been the one to read that.#NoBeef. Fukushima reactor problem is not because of "poor maintenance" or due to "maintenance" related issue. It'a caused by a major Earthquake which cause a 15metres tsunami to hit the Fukushima Nuclear reactor. That incident make them evacuate 150,000 people within the radius of radioactivities and radiation coming from the "world most dangerous room---the reactor". So my bro, this isn't about maintenance disaster on the part of Japan. Even the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster isn't cause by "Negligence", and presently, peopl from chernobyl, are the only "permanent" nuclear refugee in the world. So now that africa and especially Nigeria has less "natural disasters", it would have been a "fine" thing to go Nuclear if we want to conquer this power issue though the "money, cautions, maintenance,Years" in building such is a very lenghty one but IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE. If we were to dwell on Nigeria "poor maintenance", aint we the Nigerian we are talking about? So, it's feasible but an enormous task to do bro. |

charismaticdave:we have the manpower, but what we lack is its technology---i mean Nuclear technology. Even UN would view us as "ambitious"---meaning we are secretly planning on developing Nuclear weapon. I agree a step at a time, but when will the NEXT step of building that starts? The problem we have most is that of our Government not sponsoring Researches on various field. 1 Like |

highmood:Firstly, your comment is abusive bro. On the other hand if they want to, they are free. Every Nuclear sites in the world i have knowledge about are not build around residential area, they are sited far away from the city. Take Chernobyl city for instance, that city was created majorly for workers working at the Nuclear site only for civilian to pour into the city. The day the Reactor mishap happened, all the people were taken on exodus out of the city. There are alot of Hazards related with Nuclear reactors, but with caution, civilian would be hit less from malfunctions from the facility. So just forget about where to site it, a "secluded" site would be created for such an hazardous facility. |

Obinoscopy: I believe some govt officials do read Nairaland. The issue of power generation with coal was treated some days....and someone is talking about it. Good one, if likely 3000MW + is added to the 4000MW + we have now... Oh boy, difference go dey. 1 Like |

hazyfm: I thought government is about CONTINUITY, is it not Oh, I forgot that the pretending A-Looter old soldier is too daft to understand this basic element of governance hence he cancelled Lagos metro project 30 years ago despite incurring breach of contract costs Unlike Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who continued, updated & improved the plans & projects of his predecessors. BTW, why don't you ask Project Engineers around you the life cycle of this type of plant from Conception, Design, Costing, Contracting, Execution to Handover & Testing. A little extra education does not hurt anyone |

slimfit1:surely yu are a pessimist. Whoever you are, am sure we should just debate this out and show me the stuff you are made off. So, you are saying am just ranting on something i didnt probably have knowledge about. #Dont make me tell you about History and Hazards accustomed with Nuclear reactor failure. This shows you really lack knowledge about what am typing out here. If you think Nuclear facility is something that could just be sited at a "backyard" then this show your level of knowledge about Nuclear facility. I would have love to challenge you on this nuclear stuff. I know that most of those criticising the move is mainly because of the news they heard in 2011 about the "fukushima nuclear reactor disaster". What most of you people fail to recognise is the fact that fukushima nuclear disaster is not due to maintenance problem---it's as a result of an earthquake causing a 15m tsunami to hit the facility. So just forget about "maintenance" here. Even the nuclear disaster of Chernobyl is not also by maintenance. Go and Check your Record well before airing your pointless facts here. Even if Nigeria has a poor maintenance/management, who are the Nigerian? Is it not me and you and the rest? #Peace |

anonimi: Oga, Before i answer your question, Know this. I was not only referring to your Flag bearer, This goes to all politicians who wait till the last minute to start projects they know they won't complete. A Government with good strategic knowledge will take up this kind of project within the first and second year. Not 2 months to handing over ''Just saying ooo'' |

Nigerians are really hopeless When other nations are switching from coal to gas reduce pollution. Nigeria has enormous gas but would rather flare it and use coal. Yet some people will come here and say GEJ till 3029. What a hopeless nation |
