This form of security for officials is wrong. It leads to wastage of man hours and the incovenience of citizens. These so-called rulers should be our servants not our lords. What is more, nothing is actually being secured this way. In more civilized democracies, the security services make elaborate arrangements too, but not for bullying citizens. You could snap picture at No 10 Downing Street if you wish. Same for the White House. My experience was the same when GEJ visited Lagos sometime ago. I ask, what are they even afraid of. The answe: their misrule keeps haunting them. 1 Like |

Please come to abuja and experience worse. There was a time I was coming from the airport and I got to lugbe only to see roadblocks everywhere. The officers redirected all the cars from a 5 lane road into a road leading to a local settlement. We waited for nothing less than 1 hour waiting for Jonathan to pass. I was very disgusted that day. This is a president that is scared within his own backyard. It is an absolute abuse of power. Road built with the country's money, nigerians chased off it because the president wants to use it? It is so disheartening. Sadly some people follow this guy without reasoning. If these things doesn't disturb an average nigerian mind, then we all deserve the nigeria we have now. |

HenryDion: u diz secondary school leave politics for the grownups, u cant answer ur phone even in military checkpoint. so watz special about wat ur sayin. his the number 1 citizen nd datz hw its meant to be. check out. As President Obama and his entourage, which The Guardian estimated at 900 people, arrived in Brussels for the E.U. summit Tuesday, the Belgian capital braced for the significant expense of hosting him. Brussels mayor Yvan Mayeur told The Guardian his city will spend $10.4 million to ensure Obama’s security during the president’s 24-hour visit. Hosting an E.U. summit typically costs the city about €500,000 ($690,000), the newspaper reports. “But this time round, you can multiply that figure by 20,” Mayeur said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/in-the-loop/wp/2014/03/25/wanna-host-obama-itll-cost-you/ 2) President Obama’s upcoming two-week vacation to Martha’s Vineyard will reportedly cost taxpayers a staggering $37 billion. According to a calculation by Fox News, next month’s getaway will be Obama’s third most expensive trip as president following his $121 billion visit to India in 2010 and his $98 billion trek to Arlington, Virginia last spring. While on Martha’s Vineyard, an island resort south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, the Obamas will reportedly be living large. In a ground-breaking exposé Fox says that the White House has rented 12 houses on the island for a total price of $3 million a day. http://dailycurrant.com/2014/07/15/obamas-summer-vacation-costs-taxpayers-37-billion/ bros face ur lesson. |

Quote of the day It is possible that Buhari is worse than Jonathan, it is also possible that Buhari is better than Jonathan. What is NOT possible is for Jonathan to be better than Jonathan - # copied SUMMARY Jonathan can not be the # change we all agree (including the PDP) we need. |

HenryDion get yourself enlightened and stop feeling like an activist on Nairaland. What you experienced is a normal protocol when such a high class political figure visits a state. It's not subjected to GEJ's administration alone, it's the norm all around the world. Get a book boy and stop ridiculing yourself trying to make a point... |

I am 100% proudly from Umuahia North in Abia State, and both my parents served Nigeria as public servants. My father was a soldier and during the Nigerian civil war he was still working and having fun in Lagos. But my mother who insisted on taking their children back to the East suffered and lost three children, because of the corruption of the Biafran government as the ruling class monopolized the food supplies and left the poor masses to suffer and die in Biafra. Fast forward to PDP government in Abia State. The PDP governor is not only very ugly. but he is also the worst state governor in the history of the Eastern region and yet Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, PhD, President of Nigeria still commends him and in fact endorsed him after the bastardization of democracy in Abia. This is enough proof of how incompetent and stupid President Goodluck Jonathan and his supporters are. They are evil and greedy as I found from working for the so called Transform Nigeria group of sycophants and wicked political contractors. I promise Nigerians that there will CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT in 2015 by ELECTION OR BY REVOLUTION. The choice is yours.

http://www.ogtv.com.ng/foreign-investors-withdraw-n793bn-from-stock-market/ http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/foreign-investors-withdraw-n793bn-from-stock-market/ Foreign Investors Withdraw N793bn From Stock Market January 16, 2015 in Business Leave a comment Foreign investors, alarmed by the economic and political risks in the country, pulled out N793.17bn from the Nigerian Stock Exchange between January and November 2014. The figure represents 67.5 per cent increase on the N473.61bn foreign portfolio investment outflow from the stock market in the corresponding period of 2013. It also marked the first time in three years that FPI outflow would surpass inflow as the amount taken out of the market was N171.92bn higher than the N621.25bn that the foreign investors brought in. According to capital market analysts, the exit of foreign investors from the equities market was a major reason for its poor performance in 2014 during which the market closed with a negative return of 16.14 per cent. The Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, had in November explained that the devaluation of the naira in the face of the declining prices of crude oil was expected to, among other things, check the outflow of the FPI. Rewane, who said before the devaluation of the currency, foreigners were selling their shares in order to take their money out of Nigeria, added that “now that the value has been established, that will stop.” The second largest monthly FPI outflow of N116.5bn in the review period was recorded that month and the outflow has continued with stocks already down by up to 17 per cent this year. The Chief Executive Officer, Highcap Securities Limited, Mr. David Adonri, explained that the sustained sell-off and outflow was as a result of the unexpected continued decline in the prices of crude oil in the international market and increasing political risks in the country. Reviewing the performance of the stock market in 2014, the Chief Executive Officer, NSE, Mr. Oscar Onyema, confirmed that the outflow was a major factor in the poor performance of the market. He told journalists in Lagos on Wednesday, “In the capital market, bearish sentiments prevailed for most of the year as foreign investors steadily withdrew from the Nigerian market due to currency risk and the recovery of developed economies, and the effects of the US Federal Reserve tapering of its quantitative easing policy.” He added that the air of uncertainty that hovered over the Nigerian capital market throughout 2014 caused investors to increasingly adopt a ‘flight to quality’ strategy. The impact of the foreign investors and their activity on the market has prompted several market analysts to call for efforts to be made to ensure that Nigerians, who are less likely to flee the market in times of crisis, dominate it. As of November 2014, despite the sell-off, foreign portfolio investors accounted for 58.51 per cent of equity transactions, with domestic investors making up the balance. The Chief Executive Officer, Enterprise Stockbrokers, Mr. Rotimi Fakayejo, called for more Nigerian participation in the equities market. “If we have as much as 70 per cent local investors on the Nigerian bourse, then definitely, whenever there is any surge internationally, which may force foreign portfolio investors to retract whatever investment they have made in Nigeria, the Nigerian local investors will have sufficient capacity to absorb that shock and take up that excess liquidity of stock at any point in time,” he said. Onyema, who said the rising value of the dollar might continue to precipitate foreign portfolio investment reversals, which remained a real threat to the Nigerian capital market, assured stakeholders that the Exchange would continue to work towards increasing domestic participation in the market. |

enzony:Just because he isn't supporting GEJ doesn't means he is supporting buhari. Don't forget APC & PDP are not the only party in nigeria. Majority of Igbos are dissastified with GEJ but some would still vote for him out of fear of the unknown, others will vote for another party or remained neutral. This year i am confident southeast vote for the PDP would reduce drastically but it doesn't mean the votes is going to APC. |
