In the north or to be precise in hard core north, those people believed in whomsoever is their choice whether a rogue, coup plotters, politicians and stood firmly behind such a person, however in the south they shout of northern domination but threw out their leaders through the window with the help of the same people they told us was dominating them. Maybe they are too read, very wise and above all very patriotic nigerians |

Skillbobralph: Who is the fool putting up budgets (mathematics made easy). A budget is a planned estimate of revenue and expenses and not what is actually obtained as revenue or what was spent as expenditure. If the government plan to receive $10 billion as revenue, it may actually receive $30billion as revenue and if the govt estimate to spend $1 trillion as expenditure, it may spend $80 billion as expenditure. Another point, our budget never accounts for estimated tax revenues, revenue from custom duties but mainly Oil revenue. The budget never shows external borrowings which may also be used for expenditures. So there is a possibility of stealing $30billion because at that point oil prices were at an unprecedented high price |

[quote author=pappilo post=30652013]Jonathsn is uncouth. The question about Buhari wasnt an unfair one or asked to trip him up. He could have shown himself to be gracuous and a statesman by replying with a diplomatic answer along the lines below: "General Buhari is a fine gentleman who was once the president of this our great country. He displays his love for this country at our regular council of state meetings. We represnt different political parties but one thing we agree on is moving the count. On point. |

FOR THE CLUELESS EDUCATED ILLITERATE WHO COULDN'T DIFFERENTIATE 'STEALING AND CORRUPTION'. let me take this chance and this space and this opportunity and this time to educate those that are shouting Jonathan is corrupt what is corruption? is stealing corruption? can a president fight corruption? is corruption a crime? corruption is a part of human nature. the tendency not to do the expected. a kind of defiance and an act of being unethical. its totally natural and can be controlled. is stealing corruption? well its important to draw the line between crime and corruption. stealing is purely a crime and a graduated form of corruption. corruption is not necessarily punishable but crime is. so if someone steals, let's leave it to the law enforcement agency to do their job. can a president fight corruption? everyone in a democratic setting is gilded by law. especially a country like Nigeria that operates a bicameral legislature. so it is left for the constitution to spell out what is punishable or not. if the law state that a director must account for their monthly spending and he refuse or is found to have stolen, you don't need the president to tell EFCC or the police to do their job. asking a president to fight corruption is like telling him to be a dictator and interfere with the judicial process. then he has the power to accuse anyone and punish. then absolute power will corrupt. finally how do we fight corruption? we have seen the Nigerian law makers concern themselves with irrelevant oversight functions where they even ask for bribe in the process. these are supposed law makers that are meant to strengthen the constitution as the only true tool to tackle corruption. if our laws clearly spells out how the treasury should be managed and it States clear punishments, if the constitution gives every Nigerian the right to question the government on its spendings.if the constitution mandates the governors and chairmen to make public. its monthly spending, then corruption will be fought squarely. sadly the man that tried to put these things in place and respect the judiciary by organising town Hall meetings and national conference is being accused of leading a corrupt government. not knowing that we are the ones creating a favourable condition for the cultivation of corruption. instead we are busy asking for someone who will handpick people and punish them at will. forgething that we run a democratic government and must respect the judiciary. |

Many people don't watch debates or at least get what was said from credible sources. Below is the exact quote of JEG on corruption. “Over 70 percent of what are called corruption, even by EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) and other anti-corruption agencies is not corruption, but common stealing.” the President said during his 7th Presidential Media Chat on Sunday. |

successking:If indeed you have vast knowledge on Budget, you will not spew rubbish or make comment on topics you have no idea of. if you need to know,Nigeria have been on surplus budget and the more reasons they created ECA which have now depleted when the crude oil price fell we budgeted around 75dollars per barrel and it sold for 107dollar per barrel do your calculation and that is only on oil alone not mentioning other generating sectors and the generations from Customs especially the unremitted. guy! wise up |

If I am to give a score from the 8th Media chat its 30/100. It so painful to see too many educated illiterate in this forum. Why can't we just learn to reason as individual for once, Nigeria is not about PDP and APC. If it become good is for all and if it bad we all are going to suffer. For God sake GEJ is not intelligent. Among the two presidential candidates I do like to go for GMB not that he is better but he is skilled and apt on how answering interview questions than GEJ. So he won't go the Muslim because he is not invited, My God what have we get ourselves into. And there are still other questions that I don't want to talk it just unfortunate we have an inept president ruling us. #Suffering&SmillingGEJtill2019 |

Onosy:it's quit unfortunate that I have to spell everything out in white and black for you! So here is it. If a man it corrupt, you have to persecute him through due process and all that... for you can't just take him to jail, even if you can because this is democracy! So unless a Buhari want to expunge the constitution and build a big prison yard as big as Nigeria so that every Nigeria is thrown into it for corruption without trial like he did before... anything short of that, then I think it's high time we should reminded him that this is democracy!!! |

Nctrice: so since its due process dat s required to jail criminals in niaja dats y they are retained in govt to keep stealing right.....lame excuse........has he begin d persecution of any corrupt / thief in govt? or he just allow dem to steal more? d truth is gej may nt be stealing much but he gave licence to his cohorts to steal which makes him a thief too. be wise! |
Re: Full Text Of President Jonathan 8th Presidential Media Chat Today by Onosy: 11:00pm On Feb 12, 2015 |
fritiyo: we are deviating from d main issues at hand here...... the issue is not whether stealing is corruption or whether corruption s stealing, the issue is y are the thieves in govt stealing our moni not being persecuted? instead gej govt gave dem more licence to steal and he s trying to distract us from the real issue by this controversial statement of stealing not been corruption.... whether stealing is corruption or not their is thief and y has he not persecuted any thief instead allowed them to steal more..... subsidy payment another example..... a nation where minister of finance, CBN governor, nnpc n all denied payment of subsidy yet extravagant sum was paid by who? u I guess! be wise! |
