Terrible percentage if you ask us...an election that is looking to be decided in margins cannot afford the horrible odds of almost 50% failure rate..

How is it INEC's fault if some people's fingers are too damaged/painted beyond what the machine could accept?
If you know you have this problem, steer clear of the polls. By 2019, we should be talking of e-Voting. PDP can withdraw from the race if they are not satisfied. We're moving forward and there's no looking back.

I do not see any disagreement there. APC said it worked 60%, PDP said it was a failure. 40% failure of PVC reader in election is FAILURE. I believe APC and PDP agreed on that.

This card reader of a thing should have been used first either for Local Government or Governorship poll for test running to perfect its abnormalities. But to start it with the presidential election could be a disaster. We are not ripe yet using this thing call PVC. Until it is perfected and can guarantee 100%, I think it should be suspended.

My take sha!

INEC has 3 wks to iron out any issues with people who have unreadable fingers. That exactly was the purpose of this trial.

PDP should stop hyperventillating.

A very big disaster indeed!
Now, the card reader project will amount to wasted resources.
Why didn't INEC conduct Quality Assurance test before bulk production/purchase?
This brings us to question, "what's the usefulness of Standard Organisation of Nigeria(SON)?"

Statistically speaking, 40% is a significant failure rate....
It would have been a huge disaster if this election was held on 14th feb as initially scheduled....

Stop misleading Nairalanders, painted fingers will pass biometric.

Just dip your finger in ink and try it with your Laptop now. It works.

I
ITbomb:
65% of registered voters got their PVC, out of this 65%, 60% could successfully vote.

In simple terms out of 100 people wey register, 65 of them collect card, out of this 65 na only 35 wey the the machine (card reader) allow to vote.

That means say na 35 people out of 100 decide election results

That is a disaster. INEC is not ready for PVC and card readers
Campaigning to have the elections postponed instead of winning. PDP don suffer.

God, i thank you for making the hausas and jega so stupid that they cannot even score with the ball on penalty spot and no keeper. This is what they call a fools mate. Any which way. GEJ till 2019. I respect tinubu for trying though. But his accomplices were too stupid. There's a reason goodluck put him there. Its now apparent it was due to his massive stupidity so that it will be impossible for him to help his northern brothers steal election. Thank God for madrasas and Islamic education.

My take? 40 percent failure rate is statistically significant and efforts should be channelled to correcting the anomalies.

Then again, what about those that had those finger paintings when they registered? Was theirs rejected as well?

And was it established that cleaning the finger paintings made it the fingerprints of a majority of those affected to be accepted?

If no, a more acceptable solution should be worked on and agreed before the elections.

As for the efficiency of the card readers, it is fine because the manual process, in 2011,in my estimation, was like 5mins for the accreditation per voter. Of course, only a simpleton does not know how the average voter turnout in the SS and SE was avg 90 percent.

That can easily be fixed, educate the people to wash their hands before they com and as backup u can have hand wipes or hand washing stations at the affected polls so they can wash their hands and dry first. You can't abandon a good instrument that will check rigging simply because of someone peoples culture , just educate them

That of Laptop is touch sensitive, it doesn't read fingerprints.
The card readers confirm the card holders by matching their fingerprints with that registered on the card, so any damage done to the fingers( not necessarily henna paintings) will never let it pass.
I will never use razor even a week to the election coz I know it's capable of defacing my fingers.
Whatever happens to our fingers is not INEC's fault.
