Misconception A: You must have experience in having sex before you get married, in order to have a successful marriage.

Counter Argument: It is not experience that ensures a successful marriage but commitment. If it’s experience (in having sex) that you are looking for, you will get that experience definitely when you finally get married. Those who engage in premarital sex have experience in having sex and those who remain as virgins till they get married, have experience in abstaining from sex. This experience in abstaining from sex will help you in marriage. This is because even in marriage, there are situations that demand abstinence. For instance when your partner is sick or has travelled. In such situations it will be relatively easier for you to abstain. The period from the time you become sexually aware till you get married is a critical period which should be used for the mastering of the art of abstinence. The moment you become sexually aware you must start abstaining. You must ensure that you are already a graduate of abstinence, before you marry. You must have mastered the art of abstinence before saying I do! A husband and a wife who abstained from pre-marital sex will trust each other to be sexually faithful in the marriage.

Misconception B: Not everyone can abstain.

Counter Argument: Everyone has the capacity to abstain. However, some people do not develop the capacity. The capacity must be developed. To develop this capacity, take a firm decision to abstain, make a conscious effort to abstain from day to day, pray about it and seek counselling or psychological help if necessary. Before you know it, you would have mastered the art of abstinence.

Misconception C:
Abstinence is Ideal but not
Counter Argument: Abstinence is Ideal and Real. (i) Ideal because you save yourself from a lot of trouble or complications such as unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, when you abstain. Besides your conscience is clear when you abstain from pre-marital sex. (ii) And Real because people are doing it (i.e. people are abstaining). It can be done!!!

Misconception D: Everybody is doing it.
Counter Argument: This is not true!

I don't know Ronald. It is based on some serious (and useful/meaningful) religious and (personal principles) for a lot of folks out there.

Well, I can relate with the personal principles, individual convictions/prerogative etc to some extend, but I keep failing miserably when it's viewed from the religion angle. The religious perception of it is bereft of common sense.

I try to wait until after dinner before sex.Or at least until after the main course.Actually, waiting until you know someone
is always a good idea, but waiting until marraige is insane.

There is such a thing as sexual compatability.
And those that think there is not are just not any good at it.
Sorry, but that is the truth. undecided
I'm out!!!

I don't agree to whatever verse in the Bible or Quran etc that kicks against premarital sex.

so you actually agreed, premarital sex is good I read post here online, let me search for it, and paste it here. The post actually kicks against it.

I am not saying it is, not saying it's bad either. I am only saying I don't agree to it being kick against on religious grounds. Whenever two people agrees to having sex, they should ride on, and if they don't want to, it should be on reasonable grounds not on religion.
