It also come with new senatorial zones/Hor districts to neutralize northern domination of the federal legislature. It brings governance nearer to me and you and increases chances of recognising the undercounted mass of humanity in the SE during census that has made us less politically recognised in nigeria during general elections like this. New polling booths, more ministers etc. In Nigerias corrupt political environment, this is a big plus!

it brings "governance close to" you?....it will only bring a poor govt close to u...with no fund to carry outprojects that will directly affect those "undercounted mass of humanity". We should be fighting to reject any policy that will bloat recurrent expenditure further in this country. creating more unviable states in any part of Nigeria as it stands, is a move in the wrong direction....infact some states should be merged to save on salaries and allowances to free up monies for project that will raise the living standard of the people...not senators and guvnors and their long lists of personal assistants

you are right. In Nigeria corrupt system its a good thing because only the political elite will enjoy and benefit from it. However, New state is not what we need. Creation of states is one of the reason for the civil war. Creating another state will not benefit the common man because it will lead to more corruption, bureaucracy and waste of money.
