The only option for Nigeria to move forward is to employ foreign actors in this war before it turns to something overboard. Though that has some disadvantages, it should reduce the bht and iswap before they reach the stage of the houthi's and the likes

You think hiring PMCs is cheap? it will cost the gov't millions of dollars to hire their services to do what the army can do if given such funds and support.

All these attacks around Maiduguri seems like they are testing the defences for something bigger.

Unfortunately in the context of Nigeria being forewarned does not necessarily translate to being forearmed and prepared.

Everybody could see after Boko were uprooted in Chad where they were going too. But what did we do.

The spate of ambushes and attacks are no longer what can be ignored.

Nigerian army has all it takes to tactically eliminate bokoharam/iswap but it would still be useless without border security..

Even if you hire PMC they’re not going to be here forever.
Insanity his doing things the same way all over again and expecting deferent or better result.
If you’re going to use PMC what equipment are they going to use, the almost extinct REVA MRAP or you buy there special unit new MRAPs only and when they’re gone the main troops don’t have enough equipment to fight.

Let’s go to the United States and get fairly used MRAPs, with deferent types with some that comes with RWS and few with Surveillance Systems for Mobile Land Vehicles & Camera: these would be game changers.

Also go to Russia get fairly used BMP 2 & 3, likewise deferent types of BTRs. If we can get additional T72s or upgraded version to add to our VT-4 fleet that wouldn’t be bad.
All patrol team in the Northeast should be using MRAPs and not these soft skinned Toyota hilux vehicles.

The airforce needs more than just 3 jf17’s, if we can increase the numbers to 10 and above because any time soon we might be opening another new theatre fighting terrorist with the emergence of new ones in the North west/central. Thank God we are getting 12 Super Tucanos but 2002 his too far and we are loosing good soldiers. Getting more advanced drones would be crucial also, especially those with high loitering/endurance hours. If the army can get light surveillance drone strikes that wouldn’t be a bad idea.
The problem is not majorly our fighting troops neither hiring PMC would solve the issue of terrorism. It’s with our leaders and hierarchy in the military top decision makers.

#ISWAP captured 6x Galil ACE 33, RPG-7 with 6x T69-1 w/ motors, along w/ Type 67 MG (67-1/2 likely) in an ambush on the road between Kegua & Ngouboua, from Chadian (Airborne/FAS?) troops.

Multiple cas. in this attack. The ACE 33 are quite rare and status weapons for IS.

The irony

You ended up giving some of the apt examples why " Military has no business being in business "

Actually, it was you that said militaries had no business in business. So, I suggested that you go to the Egyptian, Pakistani and Chinese militaries and let them know being in business is a bad thing. I am sure they will throw a party for you in appreciation.

I kept wondering the meaning of that nonsense, instead of money why not take bags of rice like he did last time, or award contacts to a company to produce basics kits for the troops.
But well he shows he cares, but it's bad, soldiers fighting in other regions would be expecting similar gestures from their resident governors. It a bad precedent.

We need both - relevant equipment as well as fighting spirit. Answer, buy equipment and pay attention to the weponisation of social media to break the Nigeria army. The latest of the latter is the alleged story by a Nigerian sniper that his fellow Nigerian soldiers tried to kill him because he was inflicting heavy casualty on the terrorists. Two days ago social media had turned Tolulope’s death into fifth-columnists conspiracy and before that Nigeria army was hiding massive and unprecedented casualties inflicted on us by terrorists and on and on. If you were a soldier reading all this and also reading people calling you a fool for fighting for Nigeria; Social media celebrating the deaths of your comrades, Social Media telling you that running is a sign of your intelligence; Social Media telling you Nigeria is not worth dying for, your fighting spirit is going to run South, pardon the pun.

Commanding officers at the theatre have to start countering many of these viral Social Media output by, for instance, conducting moral reinforcing tent speeches that reassure the men of the falseness of these outputs. Of course, Commanding Officers most not be influenced or show that they are influenced by these Social Media tales.

PMS's consume over $370b of the US military $780b defense budget, they dont come cheap at all. That money well spent on Nigerian army will produce the same results, dont think PMC's do any magic, they just get all the support they need while regular armies struggle to get good food, did you hear STTEP never left for any mission without the big foot MRAPS? Should all out troops move in big foot MRAPS dont you think the story will be different? not to mention their dedicated Quick response air support, no battalion can dream of what STTEP enjoyed so their output cant be compared.
I will understand if we hire PMS's as advisors and strategists then have a war chest to spend to implement them, definitely not as foot soldiers.

Nigerian Air Force HQ
LATE FLYING OFFICER AROTILE TO BE BURIED IN ABUJA WITH FULL MILITARY HONOURS ON 23 JULY 2020 AS MINISTERS OF WOMEN AFFAIRS, INFORMATION, MEMBERS OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PAY CONDOLENCE VISIT TO CAS

The remains of late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF’s) first female combat helicopter pilot, who died on 14 July 2020, will be laid to rest with full military honours at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on 23 July 2020. Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has received some members of the Federal Executive Council as well as members of the National Assembly who visited him at Headquarters NAF at various times yesterday, 16 July 2020, to condole with him over the unfortunate demise of the young NAF pilot. Among them were; the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, as well as the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The joint delegation from the upper and lower houses of the National Assembly, comprising 20 members, was led by the Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force, Distinguished Senator Bala Ibn-Na'Allah, and the Chairman House Committee on the Air Force, Honourable Shehu Koko.

Speaking during her visit, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, who was accompanied on the visit by the Director-General of the National Council for Women Development as well as leaders of some other Women’s Groups, said she received the news of the death of Flying Officer Arotile with great shock, from which she said it would be difficult for her to recover. She however noted that the death of the young pilot would not be in vain as she would forever be remembered for her gallantry and contributions towards ensuring a secured Nigeria. The Minister prayed that God would comfort the entire NAF family and grant the departed officer’s soul eternal rest. While conveying his condolences, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on his part, prayed that God would grant Flying Officer Arotile’s soul peaceful repose and her family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Bala Ibn-Na'Allah, stated that the Committee, and the Senate as a whole, lacked the words to express how painful her death was to them. He said they were however consoled that there was no greater honour than when one dies while in service to one’s Nation. He described the late Arotile as a dedicated and goal-oriented young woman who lived an exemplary life that was worthy of emulation by other young Nigerians. While reiterating that the Nigerian Senate shares in the pain of the Service as well as that of the Arotile family, he urged the NAF to continue to give opportunities for many young Nigerian girls to realize their dreams of serving their Country as pilots in the NAF.

The Chairman House Committee on the Air Force, Honourable Shehu Koko, on his part, while recalling the day Flying Officer Arotile was winged as the first female combat helicopter pilot in the NAF, noted that they at the House of Representatives, being aware of the many exploits the young officer had made in her short but impactful career, were extremely pained by her passing away but had taken solace in the fact that she had left a lasting legacy. He therefore urged the CAS, and through him, the family of the deceased young officer to be consoled by the good deeds she left behind.

In his response during the visits, the CAS expressed his appreciation to the esteemed dignitaries as well as all Nigerians for their overwhelming show of support to the NAF over the passing of Flying Officer Arotile. He noted that the NAF would never forget her, not only because she was the first female combat helicopter pilot in the Service, but also because of her legacy as a very intelligent, highly committed and extremely patriotic officer who excelled in virtually every endeavour. Air Marshal Abubakar recalled how, while on basic helicopter course in South Africa, she was selected, because of her excellent performance, to undergo a more advanced flying course on the Agusta 109 Power Attack Helicopter in Italy before returning to finish the basic course along with her other colleagues in South Africa. Such, the CAS said, was her commitment to excellence on the job. “This was what gave us confidence to assign her to introduce the Agusta 109 Power Attack Helicopter to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, during the induction ceremony at the Eagle Square in Abuja on 6 February 2020; which she did excellently”, he added.

Speaking further the CAS noted that Flying Officer Arotile had left her mark in the sands of time which he said proves that when it comes to displaying excellence and adding value to the society, age or gender should not be barriers. He noted that her contributions through combat missions conducted, along with her colleagues, in the fight against armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country would also never be forgotten. He disclosed that the NAF would therefore continue to give equal opportunities to female officers in terms of training, noting that a total of 11 female student pilots were currently undergoing flying training both within and outside Nigeria.

While reiterating the huge loss Flying Officer Arotile’s death was to the NAF, Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the Service would continue to be consoled by the legacy she left behind. He further assured that the NAF, in honour of her memory as well as all those who had paid the supreme price before her, would continue to work assiduously to ensure success in the fight against terrorism, banditry and other security threats for the overall peace and prosperity of a united Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a condolence visit to the Arotile Family in Lokoja by a high-powered delegation, composed of the CAS, Honourable Minister of Women Affairs as well as the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Air Force, has been scheduled to hold on a date before the burial.

oga bidexiii please what's the performance rating of this vehicle on the field from soldiers

It’s doing very well interns of mobility, handling rough terrains and can carry large numbers of troops because of its shear size. well protected against all PKM/GPMG rounds and can protect troops against rounds of Dashk/NSV/kord 12.7 rounds from certain distance.
And can withstand IED of up to 12kg, the only setback these MRAP has his its weights especially during rainy season with the sand is muddy.
I’ll like if we produce more of the LAV/AFV of 4 x 4 types.

OPERATION WHIRL STROKE: TROOPS RESCUE 34 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS, ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVER CACHE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN BENUE STATE

1. In continuation of the aggressive clearance operation to rid criminal elements out of the North-Central region of the country, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded tremendous successes against Kidnap kingpins. The only option for Nigeria to move forward is to employ foreign actors in this war before it turns to something overboard. Though that has some disadvantages, it should reduce the bht and iswap before they reach the stage of the houthi's and the likes

We just need to accept the fact that we are not longer the big brother we think we are.

Swallow our pride and beg the Chadians to come and help us they did it before they can do it again.

I think moral in the army is at a very low level.

I think it would be much much cheaper to pay the Chadians as well.
