ISWAP top commanders don't need to go to battle, field commanders are different from top commanders, not every commander be top commander.
Abatcha is a squad leader equivalent not a top commander.

You’ve said it all.

The Bauchi State Government has raised an alarm over the influx of suspected Boko Haram fighters in four local government areas of the state that share a border with Geidam, Yobe State which was recently attacked and taken over by the insurgents.

The Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Sabiu Baba, made this known at a press conference after an emergency security council meeting held at the Government House, Bauchi on Monday and presided over by governor Bala Mohammed.

He said that the suspected terrorists who have infiltrated Zaki, Dambam, Darazo, and Gamawa local government areas have launched an attack on a communication mast belonging to the Mobile TeleCommunication Network and carted away some of the properties.

He said, “There was an emergency security council meeting of Bauchi State this afternoon and the meeting was to look into the attack by Boko Haram in Geidam (Yobe State) and the take over of that town and the implications for Bauchi State.

“Bauchi state is sharing border with Yobe State in four local government areas of Zaki, Dambam, Darazo, and Gamawa. The implications of what has happened in Geidam is that there is a lot of influx of people moving into Bauchi State from Yobe.

It’s wrong to reintegrate ex-terrorists when Boko Haram fighters are still killing people – Dean, Borno Elders’ Forum
“Of course, that will put a lot of strain on our facilities and resources, and considering the kind of movement out of Boko Haram activities, the security implications there are also very high.

“The meeting today was to discuss the implications of that, identify the security threats and how to contain them from the Bauchi side.”

“Security is the collective duty of all and we do not expect the security agencies alone to tackle this problem, so all hands must be on deck including traditional and religious leaders and all groups.

“It will be expected that we will continue to profile whoever is coming into the state. I can tell you that some people coming into the state, come in with weapons and it is the profiling that will help us stem that kind of problem.”

Soldiers Allegedly Smashed Imo Based Lawyer’s Car For Bearing Biafran Flag

The windscreen of an Imo based lawyer has allegedly been smashed by men of the Nigerian Army for having a Biafran flag.

The victim (lawyer) whose name is yet to be known disclosed in a video that the incident happened while on his way to a neighboring town.

He said he was accosted by men of the Nigerian Army and when he stopped, they smashed his car simply because they saw a Biafran flag in the car.

According to him, the soldiers said he should thank his God that he was a lawyer, else, they would have ‘wasted’ him.

“Is that the way to live? Let the world know that we are no longer free in Imo State.” the lawyer lamented

He expressed concern that his car was vandalized for no just cause. According to him, he has the right to admire the Biafran flag, and doing that is not a crime

The governor of the state should organize vigilantes and other volunteers, get the support of FG to deploy some troops and swing into action before terrorists come back. I believe it is a raid for resources but the terrorists will come back for more and when they realize that it is relatively safer for them, they will start settling down there. He doesn't have any excuse, Kwara state governor is currently doing that to fight kidnappers and bandits in his state and it is so far achieving results.

But then, what sorts of equipments are the terrorists looting from telecommunications mast? Communication equipment or power generating equipment?

Better to run than to be caught and slaughtered, there is no shame in running, especially when you are outnumbered.
The 7 division has never been up to full strength since it was created, they have lost several men to death, diseases and desertion. Majority of the unit are far below strength and those still in active combat status have reached their burnout phase. They should have been rotated out since, many have spent years on the Frontline and while being poorly catered for and equipped at that. The 7 division is responsible for the security of over 16% of Nigeria's land mass in a region with unfavorable terrain, weather and other conditions. They have recovered most of the towns and cities that were under insurgents control just 7 years ago.
It is Nigeria that failed them, not the other way round.

There was pandemonium at Amakohia and Akwakuma communities in Owerri North Council Area of Imo State when soldiers allegedly killed a 39- year-old businessman, Mr. Noel Chigbu.

The deceased, a father of two infants with a pregnant wife, was allegedly killed by soldiers at the Amakohia Flyover checkpoint around 10.00 pm last Friday, The Nation learnt.

He was said to have taken delivery of his new Toyota Camry car (spider) and was returning to his house when the incident happened.

A spokesperson for the family, Tobechi Chigbu, accused military men at Amakohia flyover in Owerri of killing his younger brother.

According to the distraught eldest brother, Noel, who operated a Shawarma shop at Akwakuma Roundabout, was killed after dropping his friend on his way home.

He claimed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in the state told the family the soldiers said they shot him because he “violated their checkpoint rule.”

He vowed the family would make sure the military men who killed his brother were identified and prosecuted.

According to him: “Noel is one of my younger brothers. He is the owner of Shawarma zone in front of Home Away Palace by Ukaigwe Hospital, Akwakuma junction, Owerri.

“He just finished dropping his friend who also does the same business with him in front of Amakohia market. It was around 10 pm on Friday, April 30.

“His friend he dropped said that it was not up to two to three minutes he dropped him and left that he heard gunshots the destination Noel drove to and people including him scampered for safety. He didn’t know that it was his friend, my brother that was shot by the soldiers.

“His whereabouts became unknown as he didn’t return home that night. His wife became worried and started calling us. The number was ringing and nobody was picking it until about 5:30 in the evening the next day.

“One person picked it and said that he is a policeman that works in the control room at the State Police Command headquarters in Owerri and asked us to come.

“At first we felt he had a problem with somebody without knowing that the military men had killed him and dumped his corpse in a morgue at FMC Owerri.

“On reaching the Police Command headquarters, my brother identified his new car and when we approached the car we found out the back windscreen was shot. All the four tyres were shot and deflected. We also saw blood on the driver’s seat. Chika Chigbu, my younger brother immediately sensed danger.

“The front windscreen and all the window glasses were intact. Only the back windscreen was shattered with gunshots.

“When we got there they directed us to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations. The DCP in charge of operations told us that soldiers brought the vehicle at about 1 am on Saturday.

“The soldiers dropped his phone, the car key, and a bunch of keys that contain his house keys with the police. He also said that the military guys dropped N5, 400 belonging to my brother.

“At first, he said that the military men didn’t want to make any statement but the police insisted and reluctantly in a quarter-page sheet the soldiers wrote that the owner of the vehicle which is my brother violated their checkpoint rule and they shut and killed him. They also wrote that the relatives of the owner of the vehicle should be referred to FMC in Owerri if they come.

“The DCP asked us to go to the morgue and that we shouldn’t bother going to the emergency unit of the hospital. That was when we knew that he was dead. The DCP then handed me over the money, his phone and the keys and I took a photograph with him.

“At FMC, we went to the morgue but the attendant asked for a tally but we said we didn’t have any tally. We explained to him that we were talking about the person that was brought by the soldiers.

‘’They now took us to where the corpse was on the corridor after I had paid all the necessary fees. The military men who killed him refused to register him properly and the attendant said they were even threatening them.

‘’When we uncovered his body we saw two bullet holes at the back of his head and one bullet hole at the backside of his chest region. The bullet is still in his body as we speak.”

Tobechi said the family would make a proper presentation to the military, demanding justice for him.

He added: “His wife is four months old pregnant as we speak. He had a son that turned two years a day after he was killed by the military. His daughter is only four years.

“We want to ensure that an innocent and hardworking young man like my brother gets justice. He was killed by people who are paid by our taxes. People who were supposed to protect him,” he cried.

When contacted, spokesperson of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Capt. Babatunde Zubairu, said that he was not aware of the incident.

He said he would only be aware of the family makes an official presentation to the military.

Blame everyone else but not the individual soldiers. Blame the army or the military as a whole if you like. The soldiers are victims of a failed system too.
A platoon will do that but don't expect miracles when the platoon is barely at half-strength and has been in active combat for 3-4 years.

The wing-loong and Tucanos will change things if high ranking officers allow them to be used effectively but they will not on their own win the war. It is the combination of several advantages that will win the war.

Well, Kano was once the Hotspot of this insurgency.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-30266868.amp

Troops of 1 division cleared the whole of Kano, moving from streets to streets to get rid of the insurgents. Kano has been relatively peaceful ever since.
Another mistake we make is thinking brute force alone win wars. There has to be non-kinetic actions too. Azerbaijan used diplomacy to lobby Russia to end the war with Armenia last year. Yaradua used amnesty to sort out the insurgency in the Niger-delta. Colombian government dialoged with FARC rebels to end the decades long insurgency. US has reached an agreement with taliban to move out of the country, they are currently talking on how the government will be governed when they eventually leave. If all issues are not settled in a war, it will drag on forever and no matter how hard you deal with the enemy, they will always find a way to strike you even when they are at their weakest e.g FACT rebels, Hamas, Libyan crisis etc. Algeria used both kinetic and non-kinetic approach to end terrorism.

Also, it is the actions of vigilantes(yansakai) in zamfara that has resulted in the current banditry problem the northwest is facing.

The last pic with the Major in a vest is a clear example of what's wrong with Nigeria. Billions have been released in the name of purchasing equipment, yet the Officer has not simple holster to tuck his service pistol in. I'm no fan of Senator Ndume, but he was absolutely right about one thing: our poorer neighbours have far better kit for the soldiers and security personnel. Our politicians claim to love our troops, but I see no reason why in the 21st century our basic infantry man is still armed by the OBJ006, a Nigerian copy of the Chinese Type 56, one of the 5 WORST copies of the AK47, according to Kalashnikov THEMSELVES! Even if we adopted the design, why still use wooden furniture when there are better composite materials. Plus no optics, nothing.

Abeg I'm tired.

Last week I was really tired and weak, I'm back for now, another thing will happen that will weaken me and the cycle will continue but I'm optimistic that it won't be like this forever.
I thought FG got license for DICON to produce berryl riffles some years ago.

In fact, there is a budget for it, what has happened since 2017

Nigeria’s 2017 federal budget proposal allocated NGN364 million (USD1 million) and NGN390 million respectively to establish production lines for the Beryl M762 and AK-47 assault rifles, the latter possibly being a reference to the OBJ-006, a Kalashnikov derivative unveiled by DICON in 2006.

Meanwhile, the report on BH attacking Bauchi is fake news. The governor shouldn't wait until it starts happening before he acts though.
