Very horrible attack in Niger State

Apparently the Mi-171 that crashed was on a casualty evacuation mission from that attack

yeah but this is getting worrisome; how many aircrafts have we lost in the last two years ?
We have to get back to the drawing board and review a lot of things.

OMG I just watched a video of Dogo Gide and his men claiming that his fighters used AK-47 to gun down a military helicopter in Chukuba axis of Niger state. He also showed the corpses of soldiers who were killed & the part of the crashed helicopter in the forest.

STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF MILITARY OFFICERS IN NIGER STATE

The tragic loss of our gallant officers and soldiers in a helicopter crash at Chukuba Village near Shiroro, Niger State, yesterday, brought immense sadness to me.

These officers and men were answering the call of duty while on an evacuation mission. In their dedicated service to our beloved country, they paid the ultimate price.

While we mourn their untimely departure, we will forever remember them, not just as servicemen, but as national heroes who gave their all for the peace and security of our country. They will always be remembered as courageous men who did not consider the perils and dangers of their national duty as paramount to their sacred mandate of ensuring that their fellow countrymen and women can live in peace.

We salute their sacrifice, devotion and loyalty to our dear nation – the nation they loved and served to the end.

On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend my condolences to their families, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the entire Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

May God grant them eternal rest.

Very sad.......I never knew Ak rounds could bring down such massive choppers.
I used to think the underbelly comes armoured and can withstand such.
I really really detest rotor crafts.....they are like the okadas of the sky.
Very unpredictable.......RIP to the dead.

COAS IN FORWARD OPERATING BASE ERENA, NIGER STATE MOTIVATING TROOPS AFTER ENCOUNTER

Following troops' encounter with insurgents in Zungeru general area of Niger state, in which gallant troops of the Nigerian Army paid the supreme price in defence of our dear country, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Nigerian Army, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja arrived Mina, Niger state capital, late night Tuesday 15 August 2023 and today, immediately moved to Forward Operating Base Erena in Shiroro LGA of Niger state, where he was briefed on the current security situation by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Maj Gen Bamidele Alabi.

Addressing the troops soon after the brief, the COAS urged them to rally together and be more resolute in bringing the nation's adversaries to their knees and restore sanity in troubled areas. He maintained that the fight against insurgents and bandits is a just cause, in defence of Nigerians and the nation. According to the Army Chief, "Protecting lives and defending your nation are the noblest service anyone can offer. You are therefore in the noble profession of arms and must not allow your morale to dwindle. We must defeat the adversaries of our people and take back every inch of space where they are hibernating in our land", he added.

Gen Lagbaja assured the troops that he will do all within available resources to give Nigerian Army personnel and their families the best in terms of welfare. He disclosed, that this is topmost in the pillars of his Command Philosophy. He directed the immediate reinforcement of the troops with additional combat enablers to enhance their operational effectiveness.

Definitely, it wasn't AK that brought it down, they want to deceive the people by not disclosing the fact that, the Aircraft was gun down by AA.

WE SHALL NOT GIVE IN TO TERRORISTS’ PROPAGANDA

@NigAirForce
The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to a video circulating on social media platforms allegedly depicting the wreckage of the crashed MI-171 helicopter with bodies of victims at Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. While it is not in the character of the NAF to respond to such claims, particularly one peddled by terrorists, concerns expressed by well-meaning Nigerians on the need to address the propaganda becomes imperative.

Like all military organizations involved in counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations, incidences of fatalities, mishaps and crashes are sometimes inevitable. For the NAF, the last 8 years has seen an increased level of air operations in efforts at checkmating the nefarious activities of terrorists and criminal elements in the country. With heightened levels of air operations, occasioned by an enhanced fleet, the likelihood of air mishaps and accidents at times become unavoidable and inevitable due to various reasons. Indeed, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar said this much when he hosted Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State, yesterday 15 August 2023, at his office where he noted that the rates of aircraft accidents/incidences are directly proportional to the heightened level of air operations. While the NAF regrets such unfortunate incidents, especially as they involve the loss of lives of our colleagues, the Service will never shy away from unravelling the probable cause of the crash with a view to drawing lessons.

For those aiding and abetting the propaganda tendencies of terrorists, deliberately or inadvertently, by spreading the videos of the alleged crash site with gory pictures of dead military personnel, the need to rethink the consequences of their actions on the morale of troops, families of deceased personnel as well as on Nigeria’s national security is imperative.

For the NAF and indeed the entire members of the Armed Forces, our resolve and determination to bring the current security situation in Niger State and indeed all troubled spots in the country remains unshaken. Infact, if anything, we are determined more than ever before, to take on the enemy frontally until they are brought to their knees.

While calling on all Nigerians to continue to support the Armed Forces of Nigerian and other security agencies as we all jointly confront our common enemies, the NAF wishes to appreciate the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his message of condolence and words encouragement. Our appreciation also goes to other well-meaning Nigerians for their support.

Tinubu come carry defense position give Northerners.

The same bello matawalle that can't protect his zamfara from terror bandits when he was a governor is now given minister of state defense.

Let Tinubu continue to compensate his political friends with sensitive position.
