Again #ISWAP attacked a military convoy close to Damaturu. A previous attack was on Friday in Tarmuwa LGA, all in Yobe State. Multiple sources state that the casualties included soldiers and civilians with the insurgents carting away a large chunk of arms and ammunition. 1/2 Source; Ahmad salkida |

In the last six months, #ISWAP have targeted over 10 military units, bases and convoys in the #LakeChad, some of the incidences have not been reported. Each attack resulting in loss of arms, as well as military vehicles and supplies. We should be concerned by this trend. 2/2 Source; Ahmad salkida |

jakeporeshenko: Yeah It depends on what they r doing and I don't know what they r doing If BH r using the local GSM network Then at the BSC level or even at the MSC level , filters ( software ) can be used to stop any of the available services either enmasse for all the subscribers or a set of subscribers. Specialised hardware can also be used if plugged into the service provider equipments. Even at the national gateway the detection and subsequent blocking of specific data from specific targets can be managed. Or simply shut down the data services ( not voice ) at the target BSCs. BSCs simply r the collection of cellular towers ( BTS ) which serve a collection of specified areas. Here basically the BH can not access the telecom services from the safety of their area of operation where the BSCs r Other possibilities r denying access to the known servers etc where BH uploads their shiit , if it is foreign based ( mostly likely ) either get the host country to co-operate to deny the services or if not launch denial of service attack type etc ( this seems unlikely ) Again u can use high power GSM jammers to block the service signals at the required areas either from ground or air. Anyways lake Chad is the border isn't it BH can use the GSM services on chad side if available, unless the Chad's r disabling the services on their side too or have jammers in place either by Nigerian or Chad. Again maybe BH uses sat phones in that case u need to utilise the sat phone jammers , the uplink is especially vurnerable to jamming. Not possible to give out all the options on my part , there r so many and that too without some info from the ground All I can say definitely is BH is being denied the comfort of access of service from their area of operations. They will need to send their shiit by courier etc to somewhere else where services r available. It will get uploaded but not soon maybe a few days or maybe weeks or maybe months who knows . My choice will be the measures at the BSCs and I think u r guys r doing that , less hassle and less complicated and can be done remotely About the Equipments it varies so many types available some r software only installed to run on telecom service provider equipments some r specialized hardware which can run off the air or simply port into the network at the service provider's end etc etc 2 Likes |

Since the last 72 hours. Series of ambush keeps coming in both from the US to the terrorist and them to us. The NAF can do just little during ambush against own troops at most cases as collateral damage will be extremely high. Surgical strike is not possible. We can only communicate with droops to give them situation awareness and position of the terrorists as they are always surrounded in most cases but unfortunately we do take casualties too. The guys need to be aware of everything going around the position to turn around ambush. Locating gun shots fire is another problem as the bush are getting thick due to this weather. We shall triumph. We're making progress but we need to be able to work on not taking any casualty during ambush. No matter how many terrorist we send to their 72s, lossing a single soldier and brother is painful. 8 Likes |
