If Jonathan feels giving OPC the contract to protect the pipelines there is necessary, why should the land not enjoy the PIB (cleaning up) when the pipes are vandalized or there is a spill? First of all, what flows in most interstates pipelines is not crude oil.. But refined products.. except the pipelines feeding Kaduna refinery.

The host communities do not need that interstate pipelines running in the non oil producing states to earn foreign exchange from their oil.. Last time I checked, they don't need the pipelines in osun to transport their crude to the Bight of Bonny or Escravos where Barges berths..

In a true federalism, if other regions want the crude from the oil producing regions, they will have to negotiate terms and they'll likely pay for most or all of the pipelines. because the producing regions cannot waste money building a pipeline to sell oil to them when there's an easier way of selling their crude through the seas..

Simple Economics of demand and supply..

Fighting this cabal is not as easy as you think. These guys are rich and powerful with enough resources to pull down the country if they so wish.

The challenges in fighting corruption in Nigeria today has nothing to do with GEJ. It is a constitutional issue. The problem is the structure of Nigeria. This is what many folks do not understand. The present structure of Nigeria, currently backed by the constitution is the CORRUPTION afflicting this country. Do you know why reccurent expenditure of our budget at the federal level will always be higher than capital expenditure no matter how hard the authorities try to reduce it? Centralism (Socialism) which is Nigeria's current model.
Unless Nigeria is Restructured to reflect the principle of true federalism at all levels corruption, mediocrity and underdevelopment will continue unabated no matter who is in power.
