Still made no sense BTW, but keep trying...you'll get there eventually.

So who are the hypocrites campaigning for freeing the nip.ples?
White men or your comrades-in-arm feminists? gringrin

You really think I'm one of the people you do back and forth with here. Let me tutor you a bit, so you don't go and disgrace Nigerians outside.
The argument was their society rendered nudity as primitiveness and today want to resort to the same primitiveness and not a white man vs feminist issue you want to reduce my arguments to. Don't reduce my intellect to your petty kindergarten level. Logic is not your strongest forte. Stop reading with your feet.
Using the word feminist to create a men vs feminist war (I presume feminist here represents 'females', rotflmao such razzznesssss) is not only puerile, but shows the limitations you have with grammar and your poor vocabulary pool when a feminist can be a man or woman.

There are many factors, economic and enlightenment are one of them as you say. I would include tradition/cultural/religious practices especially in Northern Nigeria. I would also include home bringing. In the South, we see good statistics for girl literacy but there is a reliance of men being the providers so 'me as a woman do not need to do so much.' Also if we are interested in empowering the girls, are the boys ready for such empowerment? Because what I've found out is that many women have been empowered, but many men do not respond favorably to these empowerment and feel threatened especially in the arenas of family and relationships. Female empowerment is rubbish if the men are no taught to adapt to these changes in societal norms.

good u agree there is improvement.
general enligtenment, education and better economic opportunities favour eveyone irrespective of gender

can you explain the bolded or list what you mean
are u saying in the west, there are no issues in relationships also?

Same.

Feminism is more of behaviour.

Lol, feminism isn't about how you dress.

You can dress like Lady gaga.
Feminism is like not cricticizing anyone if she wants to be slutty or modest.

You are contracting yourself ..

You said she's exhibiting her feministic beliefs by dressing provocatively and I countered saying that is definitely not feminism .but sluttiness....

and feminism is not a behaviour like you said. That's gaffe.

"Feminism is a collection of movements and
ideologies that share a common goal: to define,
establish, and achieve equal political, economic,
cultural, personal, and social rights for women"

Beyonce is merely shaking her butt for money and you say that's her own way of portraying feminism grin

you know what.. just pass me that akure Igbo you've been smoking lately cheesy

Point out where they said feminist shouldn't dress provocatively in that definition.

so, beyonce shouldn't do her business?
I guess Adichie shouldn't write her novels or Adele shouldn't sing her music.

I have been put down verbally for being a woman.

Some part of my state or region, still have traditions that marginalise people.

I have seen a man berated for not being able to do what " a man" is supposed to do, vice versa.

I have seen women suffer for not being a certain way.

I have seen a man treated differently for being a man, vice versa.

so you are in a region where men get berated for not being man enough & where women get verbally-lashed for not being feminine enough.

where's the marginalisation here? it seems to me everyone in your state gets criticised if he or she shows any sign of slackness.

this is not discrimination.....its discipline!

However thanks for providing instances

A man told to behave like a man, and a woman told to behave like a woman,

So where is the discrimination?

Maybe they should have told the man to behave like a woman and vice versa

when you are denied an opportunity, in this case, just because you are of a particular gender.

i don't see how your comment above proves you were shut down because you are a woman. from what i can grab, both genders get pilloried in your region when they don't brace up.

It doesn't end at a job, I have had something I deserved handed to a man and the reason was because("ibu nwanyi"(get a translatortongue). I have wanted a job and told they needed a man without knowing I couldn't do the job.

maybe you were applying to be a NEPA enforcer. those ones who carry ladder from street to street to disconnect cables. it's not suited for ladies. it's not marginalisation - some roles are more suited to men & some roles are suited to women.

were you not here when the feminazis all said they can never hire a male nursery teacher for their female children? it's just what it is. biko, no vex. if that is what you are angry about, it's a universal phenomenon. i have been denied several luxurious houses by landladies because i am male. grin

Dig up the thread, sholly and I called out those people on it, I have told you countless times that, not everyone who claims to be a feminist is, you shouldn't get to be denied luxuries based on your gender, that's what we are all about male or female, so coogar, I am fighting for you too.

How did you make sure to arrive that conclusion on the job? Can't a woman carry a ladder?

The issue in relationships in the West lie with excessive freedom or liberties and substituting one sexism with another sexism. While the comment you bolded has to do with the African society. If we are empowering girls, boys need to be taught to adapt to the empowered female. The recurring theme in many of my arguments between male and female relationship is totally against excessive freedom or giving one gender power over the other. Power is intoxicating and whether in male or female, people will bastardize the power they have over another.

of course.....
the very foundation feminism stands upon was built with the sands of hypocrisy.

How did you make sure to arrive that conclusion on the job? Can't a woman carry a ladder?

that kinda role is to energy-sapping for a female. it's not lady-like. you should be behind a big desk of a fully air-conditioned room arranging meetings & sorting your director's schedule.

it's what it is......
men & women would always get denied luxuries because of their gender. you are a female. you would easily let your girl friend pass the night in your room if she's stranded. would you give any male that kinda offer? does that make you sexist? grin

i remember one lady came to this section the other day that she needs a female to share her flat with. she specifically asked for a lady. when i challenged her that she's sexist(tongue-in-cheek), she said she's the type that likes to run around the house nakëd and such wouldn't be appropriate if her housemate is male.

so, is she sexist? cheesy

Yes, I have seen adverts wanting a particular gender, I ask any way and they look at me crazy(eg I applied to be a concierge at a hotel and was told they only took males, asking if I didn't read the advert?)
