There is no proof that Jesus was a carpenter.
The word used to describe him was "tektron". This means that he was probably a stone-mason or a builder and not a carpenter.

We can't take scripture as the only source to enlighten us as to what Jesus did in his early years. Not only is it flawed in places but it is also incomplete. We also have to look at the historical circumstances in which he lived.

Jesus is often referred to as Jesus of Nazareth. The problem here is that there was no such place as Nazareth. It didn't exist until long after Jesus' death. Therefore, "Nazareth" is probably a corruption of Nazarean - Jesus the Nazarean. They were a branch of the Essenes and the first Jews to convert to Christianity:

Every Nazarean was trained in scripture and the creed of the sect. It would be very, very unusual for Jesus not to have gone through the same training.

In this case, we have looked at the scripture and found the word Nazareth. We've then looked at it in the context of the times and found that it cannot apply so then we have to look at the other historical applications that it can be used in. We then come across the Nazareans.

But scripture should never stand alone as our only knowledge. We have to look at that scripture and take it in the context of the times.
Scripture is very, very important, but it cannot be the be all and end all.

Your Bible is not "real" scripture. It has been changed and edited so many times by different men that it is almost impossible for it to be taken at face value. To take it as real, you have to understand the times and the motives with which it was written.

The Bible passages that you have posted are totally open to interpretation. They could be referring to the knowledge that Jesus had picked up after education or alternatively could be a throwback to his Galilean roots - people from Galilee were seen as uneducated village idiots by the Judeans.
Again, we have to take those passages in context.

But look at it this way:

The Bible is said to be handed down from God. It was then written down in the language of men.
There are many times in the New Testament where Jesus quotes the Old Testament. He quotes the language of men. For him to be able to do that, he must have studied the Bible. He must have had an education.
