I was so dumbfounded I didn’t know what to say when her friends came in
right after she entered into the eatery, and followed her straight to where I
was. She took her seat and introduced her friends like I cared to know even if
they bore the names Rihanna, Nicky and Beyonce.

Immediately they sat, they just started rapping in a language I suspected was
not even pure Igbo, as it was certain I would be able to get some clue if it
was Igbo. I now began to ponder what step to take as it was obvious these
girls came here to play a game and I would like to show them this is my
home, they are they away team.

I asked Chidi about school and she said everything was going fine and that
exams would soon be starting and she would need to get some handouts. I
asked her to call home. Am so sure she was surprised at the response.
‘My Parents have travelled to Abuja’ she replied.

So all the Banks in Abuja have travelled to Lagos I thought to myself

‘So hope you have fully prepared for the exams’ I decided to shift the attention
from the monetary talk. She said yes, just that she had not been able to cover
up the whole syllabus, as the lecturers most times direct them to get the full
subjects topics in their respective handouts.

I was still pondering what the next tactics it was I would be taking. I thought
of so many things. As I had made up my mind it was going to be their Saliva
they would drink that day, so I needed an escape mechanism.
I thought of excusing myself to go to the toilet, but that would cause
suspicion as the toilet is not a detached one. I thought of sending a message
to Osaro and ask him to call me and feign an emergency situation at the
corpers’ lodge. I also thought of just telling her I needed to withdraw cash at
the ATM right opposite the eatery.

But I later concluded all these were childish and it would be so immature of
me to display an act of cowardice right before these Jezebels. WTF? Am a
corps member and it was obvious these chicks were just in either 200 or 300
level. So what should I be afraid of?

Chidi asked me if I would be getting anything for them and I just told her No.
she tried to know why I said that and I asked if it was her friends I met the
other day or her. The girls were already sensing war, so they just stopped their
gossips and were watching us both.
‘Now, tell me what you were trying to achieve bringing these girls’ I asked
‘They just wanted to follow me and were not even sure if I was going to be
safe’ she responded

‘So this eatery is my bedroom, where you not gonna be safe?, that is an
hilarious excuse’ I was already fuming because at that moment she had totally
irritated me and the fact that her friends were even speaking in a language I
did not understand showed they planned coming around to open office on my
head and that got me annoyed the more.

‘Please, can I say something’ One of the friends cut in
‘Am not interested in your saying’ I said. I stood up and left them in the eatery
without even saying goodbye.

They just sat there and were all stunned by my action and didn’t believe I had
done what I just did. They were all watching my track through the eatery’s
glass wall as I was also looking at them like a Monkey.
I took the next available bike and left.
It was when I got home that I realized I had dropped my NYSC Identity Card
on the table while I was taking out my phone.
