Johannesburg Metro Police Department on Wednesday, arrested a Nigerian man found in possession of a huge stash of fake money.

Michael Sun‚ MMC for Public Safety‚ said the suspect was arrested by the metro’s K9 unit and found with around R300‚000 in fake bank notes. Counterfeit notes in other currencies were also found.



The bust happened after a routine stop-and-search operation on Heidelberg Road‚ where officers spotted a suspicious-looking white Peugeot. While inspecting the car‚ the officers discovered a plastic bag containing a large amount of money.

The officers accompanied the suspect to his house in Allenspark‚ where they discovered a counterfeiting operation.

“The suspect was immediately arrested‚ and the counterfeit bank notes consisting of R300 000; US Dollars; Nigerian Naira; and a mini printing press and equipment were seized. This is the kind of criminal operation which hurts the economy of Johannesburg. Unsuspecting shops and small businesses would often lose out on making an honest living when fake money is used to pay them for their goods." he said.

"This illegal operation has been taking place for a long time because we saw the cut-offs of a lot of paper in plastic bags which are in the room" he added.


The suspect is in police custody and will be charged with money laundering and possession of counterfeit money.

"The suspect is being detained by the police and will face serious criminal charges of money laundering and possession of counterfeit notes‚” Sun said.

A form one student failed to join a Catholic sponsored school in Kisumu West on Tuesday, January 9, after she refused to shave her hair as required by the school. Her long hair was the only impediment as she had complied with all the other requirements before she could be admitted to St Mark Obambo Secondary School.

The girl identified as Sharon Akinyi maintained that she could not betray her faith citing that women are allowed to have long hair as it is considered their covering.

It is not the first time that the school has hit headlines by effecting this hair policy when it suspended a form four student in 2014 for having long hair. The student was among three others but she did not shave hers after her parents' church pastor and education officials were involved and at the moment, she is working as a nurse, according to reports by the Standard.

A teacher at the school said that the policy does not seek to discriminate or victimise but it is because of the high temperatures and dust.

In one of his regular tweets, Nigerian Singer, Adekunle Gold posted a photo of himself dressed in a Gold-patterned attire with a caption that explains his mood for life.

His caption reads;

However, a follower who claimed to be science student expressed his displeasure for Adekunle Gold’s use of “AG” in his tweet saying that the singer had used a wrong Chemical Symbol for Gold.

According to him, “AG” in Adekunle Gold’s tweet is a chemical symbol for silver and further threatened to sue the singer for misleading the public.

A 24-year-old Nigerian lady has recounted the story of how a man tried to kick her out of a hotel room he paid for. The lady who shared her story on Twitter explained that she and the unidentified man met at an event and became friends.

The lady identified simply as BellexForte explained that the man offered to pay for her room and she accepted because she was on holiday in Lagos.

However, after the man found out that BellexForte would not sleep with him he decided to kick her out of the room.

According to her, she immediately paid for the room with her money and asked the hotel management to allow the man into the hotel.

I'm really angry and I must rant this rant......

I want to sincerely beg all igbo fathers here to pls stop the act of billing their daughters husbands to be just because they're non igbos. It's not fair at all because while they're enjoying the money, their daughters are at the receiving end.
I'm of no doubt that some igbo ladies make good wives and all....my traditional wedding was last month and in all honesty, I now understand why most men marry igbo wives and subject them to suffering,i understand why most Igbo women are baby mamas instead of being the wives.......... My husband is isoko and all his friends (igbos included )has vowed not get involved with any igbo lady.

I know some of my brothers and sisters would want to insult me, I know some of my friends here would want to inbox me to interrogate me, I don't care because we're back in Lagos, broke and for the first time in a long while, I'm now a debtor and can't sleep or eat well.

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested two Brothers Paul Jibunor, 23, and Nkoenye Jibunor, 28, for serial rape and robbery.

The two men were arrested on the 31st of December 2017 following a report from one Ijeoma, who complaint at Ojodu Abiodun Division that she was picked in a taxi by three men on 29/12/17 from Fela shrine Oregun Lagos to Iwo street Ojodu Abiodun on an agreed fees only for the men to forcefully dragged her down and have unlawful carnal knowledge of her after which they dispossessed her of her belongings. .


She stated further that she sighted the three men at Adebayo area of Ojodu and was able to recognize them. .


Upon her report, the DPO Ojodu Abiodun Sp Bamidele Job detailed detectives to the area where two of the suspects were arrested while the third one escaped. On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. .


Further investigation revealed that they have been involved in series of rape cases around that area, and that their mode of operation is to use uber taxi to pick their victims to an isolated area where such victims are raped in turn before dispossessing them of their belongings. .


Some of the victim’s properties such as necklace, phone and wrist watch were recovered from them.

For those who were born without a silver spoon, they surely have one tale or the other to tell about how they were able to cope with life pressures. Such is the case of this beautiful and talented young lady Amaka Ohaerisi who has spent most of her life helping her mother make beautiful baskets.

Ohaeri who shared her story on Igboist group on Facebook disclosed that ever since her father died she has been making these baskets to help pay her school fees.

The young lady added that she is also a final year student and resides in Nasarawa state.


Ohaerisi said:

"Don't be ashamed with what that puts food on your table, this is what is paying my school fees and my siblings school fees. This is what that puts food on our table since my daddy left us and we are surviving with it and now i'm in my final year. I am happy for travelling home and helping my mom do something.
