The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that it is still screening 111,981 withheld Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. The disclosure was made by the board’s head of public affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in an interview with Punch, on Monday, March 26.

[url]Newshelm.ng [/url]gathers that Benjamin stated that the board would communicate its findings at the appropriate time. JAMB had released a statement on Tuesday, March 20, announcing that it had released 1,502,978 results, but withheld 111,981, for ‘further screening’.

The statement read: “After viewing all CCTV footages during the conduct of the 2018 UTME and considering reports from our supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians, JAMB has released the results of 1,502,978 candidates. “Also, 112,331 results have yet to be released out of which 350 are the results of visually impaired candidates which will be released soon and 111,981 results withheld for further screening.

“The figure above excludes foreign candidates whose examination will be conducted in April.”

The first batch of 70 athletes and coaches left Abuja at about 6pm on Saturday aboard Emirates Airline for the Gold Coast as the XXI Commonwealth Games village opens today.


46 athletes in athletics, para-athletics, table tennis, para - table tennis, basketball, gymnastics, para powerlifting, weightlifting, boxing and 17 coaches, loaders and helpers as well as 7 medical personnel made the trip at the weekend.

The athletes were in high spirit at the time of departure as all allowances were paid to them. Each athlete received N15,000 per day for 21 days being the period of the last phase of camping.They were also given specific competition kit and equipment.

The second batch of 9 athletes and 4 coaches will leave this week as soon as their visas are issued while the wrestling team comprising 12 wrestlers and 4 coaches will depart on April 2, 2018.

The XXI Commonwealth Games starts from April 4th -15th 2018 in Gold Coast Australia with 71 Commonwealth teams taking part in the Games.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) C-130 Hercules Aircraft today, 25 March 2018, airlifted the Dapchi girls back to Maiduguri from where they would be transported to Dapchi, under armed air escort, to reunite with their families. The return of the girls to their community took place after President Muhammadu Buhari and other top Government officials had received them at the Government House in Abuja on 23 March 2018. All the girls, including a boy and 3 teachers from the girls’ school were seen boarding the aircraft.

It would be recalled that after their release by the Boko Haram Terrorists on Wednesday, 21 March 2018, personnel of the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE as well as other officers of the Theatre Command received the girls at the NAF Base Maiduguri. At the NAF Base, personnel of the Air Task Force were already waiting to give refreshments to the girls. After the refreshments, the girls were airlifted aboard a NAF C-130 Hercules Aircraft to Abuja, where senior Government officials received them.

A Nigerian man has been arrested by the Philippines Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) over his involvement in romance and fake dollar scam.

Kelechi Christian Ukpabi’s arrest came following a petition from his last victim, Roger, a school principal whom he scammed of P500,000.

Ukpabi was posing as a female member of the United States Army who was assigned to Afghanistan and became Roger’s “online girlfriend”.He had told Roger that he would send him a dollar equivalent of millions of pesos for the development of an asylum in the Philippines.

But before getting the money, Roger must first fix the document and pay the clearance for the money.Roger paid nearly P500,000 but he became cynical when Ukpabi introduced him to “black dollar” aka fake dollars.

Under “black dollar” or “black money,” the culprits convince their victims that a sealed paper is money that has been painted in order not to be found by the authorities.

The victims are encouraged to pay and buy chemicals to remove the dye or color.

In a bid to escape a return to Nigeria, a student by the name of Uju Pious Ejikeonye plummeted to his death while attempting a logic-defying jump.

The student who is said to have been from Imo State, ended his own life after jumping from the 13th floor of his condominium in an alleged bid to escape Malaysian immigration arrest.

According to reports, the incident happened yesterday, at Sri Puri Condominium Kuala Lumpur. The deceased, a student of the City University, Kuala Lumpur, was said to have heard noise from the officers and decided to flee.

He jumped from his building hoping to make a break for it, but instead died due to the fall.

A large volume of Nigerians are departing foor greener pastures and when things don’t line up for them they find themselves enmeshed in criminal activity or other petty crimes like overstaying their welcome.

Malaysia has always been rather ruthless in its war on drugs, illegal immigrants and criminals. A report from August of last year puts the number of Nigerians on death row in Malaysia at 81.

“As at today, 123 Nigerian students are in various detention centres after being arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police for drug trafficking,” the report read.

“This is out of a total of 350 foreign students in detention in Malaysia,” the report added.
