Politics / Abba Kyari Laughs As Osinbajo Signs 2017 Budget (Photos) by 247frolic(m): 11:37am On Jun 13, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari's Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari laughed as he was part of the historical signing of 2017 budget by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

This is coming despite believed in many quarters that he (Mr. Kyari) is part of the Aso rock cabal trying to undermine the acting role of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo since President Muhammadu Buhari is in London receiving medical treatment.

Recall that last week, Sahara Reporters reported that Aso Rock cabal led by the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, met in London to weaken the constitutional authority of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential palace in Abuja.

The new scheme comes after an earlier attempt to hijack Mr. Osinbajo’s constitutional authority though letter transmitted to the National Assembly failed, Sahara Reporters quoted authoritative sources in the presidency.

Politics / Governor Yahaya Bello Condemns Senator Dino Melaye For The Brutal Murder Of Kogi by 247frolic(m): 10:04am On Jun 13, 2017
PRESS STATEMENT: GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO CONDEMNS SENATOR DINO MELAYE FOR THE BRUTAL MURDER OF KOGI STUDENT

June 12, 2017.

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello sadly condemns the unruly conduct, political violence and needless crisis orchestrated by Senator Dino Melaye in a bid to foil his recall from the National Assembly which led to the brutal murder of Saka Seidu, a student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

The Governor sincerely regrets the unfortunate incident and calls on the people, youth and students of Kogi to remain calm, law-abiding and refrain from taking laws into their hands in the face of imminent threat to their life and security, whilst assuring them of continued safety and maintenance of security in the State.

He urges the embattled Senator to desist from further plunging the State into needless political crisis capable of threatening the peace and security of the people in the State.

He is appalled that despite his commitment towards ensuring safety and security for the indigenes and inhabitants of the State and endeavour to rid the State of insecurity and political thuggery, the embattled Senator remains hell-bent on causing mayhem in the State in a bid to save his drowning political career. He hereby reiterates his firm commitment to ensuring continuous security and safety of lives and properties in the State as he vows not to relent in his administration's lofty strides in securing the life of every inhabitant in the State.

The Governor calls on young people to desist from being readily available as cheap tools to malicious politicians' devilish use and manipulation. He reiterated that their lives are precious and should not be sacrificed on the altar of any selfish politician's political expediency.

He recalled that the State Government had petitioned the Presidency and the Inspector General of Police in January of 2017 on the likelihood of such an outbreak of violence but wonders why no action was taken. He called on the authorities to expedite action on the petition to ensure there is no repeat of today's unfortunate incident.

He thus urged the Senator with a notorious antecedent for political violence from further plunging the State of Kogi into needless political violence and security crisis whilst advising him to honour his constituents' rights to exercise their constitutional obligations.

Signed:
Petra Akinti Onyegbule,
Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor.

NYSC / Mother Writes NYSC: My Son Suffers From 'Ogugu' Spiritual Attack, Redeploy Him by 247frolic(m): 10:52am On Jun 09, 2017
A Nigerian parent, Uwakwe Theresa, has written to the National Youths Service Corps for the redeployment of her son, stating that he suffers from spiritual attack called 'Ogugu'

Her son, Chijioke Kingsley Nnamdi has been deployed to Yobe state for the National service. Theresa's letter implores the NYSC scheme to redeploy his son back home so he can be attended to by his exorcist/prophet.

She explained that her son's case is not a medical condition but stated that administering any form of orthodox medicines when he is on attack would trigger a regretful outcome or at worse, end his life. She goes on to explain that what is behind her son's condition is very mystical.

However, NYSC code stipulates that a corps member can only be redeployed on health or marital grounds.

Politics / NJC Places 3 Justices On Watch List by 247frolic(m): 12:49pm On Jun 04, 2017
The National Judicial Council, NJC, has issued a serious warning to three Justices and placed them on watch list for different offences based on petitions against them.

The are:

1. M. N. Esowe of the National Industrial Court - Given serious warning

2. Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the Rivers State High Court of Justice

3. Justice Bassey Frank Etuk of the Akwa-Ibom State High Court.

The NJC however, discontinued the probe of Justice T. U. Uzokwe, Chief Judge, Abia State; Justice Okoroafor of the Abia State High Court and Justice Jude Okeke of the FCT High Court.

The homes of the suspended judges were in the midnight of October 8, 2017 raided by the DSS, where the sum of N271.7million in both local and foreign currencies were allegedly recovered.

The DSS said the raids were conducted after a series of “sting operations” targeting judges of Supreme, Appeal and High Courts who were being watched for “corruption and other acts professional misconduct.”

“We have been monitoring the expensive and luxurious lifestyle of some of the judges, as well as complaints from the concerned public over judgments obtained fraudulently,” an official of the service, Garba Abdullahi, had said.

The development threw the country’s judiciary into chaos, with lawyers expressing divergent views.

Politics / PHOTOS: Acting President Osinbajo Is NOT The Commander-in-chief Of Armed Forces by 247frolic(m): 9:39am On May 30, 2017
In the absence of Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo addressed the nation on May 29, a day that marks 18th year of Nigeria's democratic dsispensation. Buhari had been in London on a medical vacation for an undisclosed ailment.

His deputy, Mr. Osinbajo, a lawyer, and pastor, warned against actions capable of undermining the sovereignty of Nigeria, saying the country "belongs to all of us." He said this in the Democracy Day speech at the wee hours of Monday.

According to him, "as we all daily preoccupy ourselves with pursuing the Nigerian dream, which is the desire to better Nigerians' lives and circumstances vigorously and honestly, it is inevitable that grievances and frustrations will arise from time to time.

But while he gave the address, it was evident that behind him were positioned, two Nigerian flags, as opposed to the usual and normal four.

In 2016 Democracy day broadcast, President Buhari delivered the speech behind four flags; 2 National flags, and 2 Flags of Nigeria's Armed Forces – that symbolises the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

But these Armed Forces' flags were missing while Vice/Acting President Osinbajo delivered May 29, 2017 democracy day speech. Could this mean that the Acting President is not the Commander in Chief?

Already, there are schemes in the nation's seat of power by some powerful forces close to the President.

NYSC / NYSC To Post Youth Corpers To Farms by 247frolic(m): 8:14pm On May 29, 2017
The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will start posting corps members to farms, according to the corp's Director General Suleiman Kazaure.

Speaking in an interview during his official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Sagamu, Ogun State, he said this move is in line with the agricultural development programme of the NYSC.

He said that Bauchi, Oyo, Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had been earmarked for the pilot phase.

“It should interest you to know that the NYSC will soon begin its agricultural development scheme where corps members will be posted to farms for their primary assignments.

“Already the NYSC has acquired active farmlands across the nation’s geopolitical zones with four already fully operational in Kwali, Bauchi, Oyo and Kebbi.

“After this orientation programme for the Batch ‘A’ corps members, we will begin posting some of them to these farms as a pilot phase.

“Though we are starting with four states for now, we will integrate the other states as time goes, the project is ongoing,” Mr. Kazaure said.

He also tasked the corps members not to seek white-collar jobs which were non-existent but rather develop their potentials for entrepreneurship excellence.
