Great leaders like Nelson Mandela, George Washington, Mao Zedong, Adolf Hitler, Abraham Lincoln, Julius Caesar all have one thing in common – Great communication skills and this is why you need to master the art of communication as a leader.

6 Communication Styles That Should Be In Every Leaders’ Toolbox

Listening

Listening is one of the communication styles that should be in every leaders’ toolbox. A good leader must master the art of listening. He should be able to listen to what his team are saying and what they aren’t saying.

Once you listen very passionately to what your subordinate or team have to say, you can uncover their unspeakable challenges and frustrations. The good thing with listening is that it gives you the necessary information to evaluate the situation at hand.

Coaching

As a leader, you should be able to teach your team a new set of skills. Instead of constantly scolding your subordinate, learn to advise them and guide them properly.

Identify the team members that are performing poorly and put them on the right path. With this, you will be creating a great impact while earning their respect. Successful leaders are great coaches that are passionate about guiding others to achieve their goals.

Teaching

Teaching is also among the communication styles that should be in every leaders’ toolbox. As a leader, whenever you see someone struggling with a particular team, try to teach them.

Whenever a leader is teaching his subordinate, he should always explain while the skills he is teaching them will be beneficial to them.

Directing

It is your job as a leader to direct your team. In other words, you have to spell out strategies that will help achieve the task at hand. When directing, you have to be very careful and choose your words wisely. Otherwise, you may be dictating unconsciously.

Therefore, instead of giving orders, provide frameworks. As a rule, leaders should only consider dictating as a last resort. Especially, when directing isn’t producing the desired result.

Advising

Every leader must learn to be in an advisory mode. In other words, you should be able to advise your team of different situations. When issues are complicated, clarify them, provide solutions to their problem and more importantly, help them clear misconception.

Your advice should always help your team to overcome difficulties when the going gets tough.

Motivating

Motivation is among the most important communication styles that should be in every leaders’ toolbox. There are instances when the going gets tough, this is when you need to motivate them.

You should be able to encourage your team and make them put in their best. According to experts, the best way a leader can motivate his team is to work alongside with them to overcome challenging tasks.

Furthermore, try to know the motivation style that works best for your team and apply accordingly.

In trying times, teaching, directing and motivating are the best communication style to apply.

These are the communication styles that should be in every leaders’ toolbox.

Politics / How Overhauling Of SARS Will Benefit Nigerians by 24hoursreporter: 2:13pm On Aug 15, 2018
Ordinarily, the primary function of Nigeria Police Force is to serve the community, protect the innocent and ensure that there is liberty, justice and equality for all. Regrettably, these functions have become counterproductive since the emergence of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

It is still a puzzle how SARS became a nightmare to innocent Nigerians they were supposed to be protecting. As a matter of fact, if you live in states like Lagos, Delta, Edo and Portharcourt you will understand what I am saying.

Once you are riding a good car, wearing a nice wristwatch and using an iPhone, you are automatically labelled a Fraudster(Yahoo boy). It is actually disheartening how these officers of the law robbed innocent people of their hard earned money with accusations of money laundering.

Every freelancer, mini importer, bitcoin trader and other internet hustlers are constantly harassed and robbed for being successful. The most annoying aspect of SARS operation is the fact that they believe everybody doing online business is a fraudster.

There are several Nigerians who work for remote companies overseas. In other words, they work from their home while their employers are overseas. Nigerians are real-time hustlers and they are always the best in any freelancing platform you visit.

Does it mean that there are no police in the US, China and the UK where we have most of the top tech billionaires around the world? If police disturbed these tech billionaires during their early days of hustling, they would have been no Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Larry Page, Jack Ma, Jeff Bezos etc.

The best thing that has ever happened to Nigerian youths in this administration especially the internet entrepreneurs is “The Overhauling of SARS”. The acting President has done well.

Without much ado, lets quickly take a look of the impact the overhauling of SARS will have on Nigeria Digital Economy.

How Overhauling of SARS Will Benefit Nigerians

Despite what some people are saying about the decision to overhaul SARs, it will still benefit Nigerians in many ways. Some of these benefits are;

#1. Employment

One of the ways Overhauling of SARS will benefit Nigerians is that it will create more employment opportunities. Ordinarily, there are several Nigerians out there that are doing legit hustling online. But most times, they are disturbed by SARS and some of them even lost interest in the whole internet thing.

However, with the recent order to overhaul the police outfit, Nigerians that have lost interest in freelancing and other internet hustlings will definitely rekindle their hustling spirit. This means that they will be employed once again.

#2. More Business Opportunities

Mini importers can now do their importation and delivery without stress or challenge. They will make more profit without incurring unnecessary cost trying to pay SARS officials.

#3. Free Movement

This is the aspect that makes sense the most. You can now freely cruise your car around the city without being embarrassed by SARs.

#4. Absence of Fear

Guys will no longer be scared of going outside their houses. As a matter of fact, you can now move freely without your phones without anybody trying to open it and search what is inside.

#5. Fashion

Yeah, the fashion lovers will also benefit from this overhauling. You can now dress the way you like decently without you being harassed by the so-called SARS officials.

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Adamawa, Malam Abubakar Mohammed, said on Monday that no fewer than eight 2018 Batch “B” corps members posted to the state had been honoured in camp during their orientation.

Mohammed said at the closing ceremony of the Batch B orientation course in Damare Camp, near Yola, that the corps members were honoured for exemplary conduct during the exercise.

He said that the honoured corps members displayed a high sense of patriotism, honesty and integrity.

The coordinator commended corps members who found and returned to the owners’ items such as cash, handset, kits and other valuables.

“To this end, we issued them with letters of commendation for exemplary conduct of patriotism, honesty and integrity,” Mohammed said.

He said that the NYSC programme had moulded the corps members to be good Nigerians who are optimistic about the future of the country.

“I am pleased to, on behalf of the Director General NYSC, Brig.-Gen. S. Z. Kazaure, boldly present to the government and people of Adamawa state a new breed of change agents, who are ready to partner with the government in making life better for our people in all nooks and crannies of the state,” Mohammed said.

The coordinator thanked the Adamawa Government for its support to the scheme, and appealed for the state for the construction of a perimeter fence around the camp for security reasons.

He also called for assistance in the provision of additional fans in hostels to make them more comfortable for corps members and officials.

In his remarks, Governor Muhammadu Bindow, represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Martins Babale, lauded the corps members for their good conduct and commitment to participate in achieving the purpose of the scheme.

Phones / Google Free Wifi & What It Means To Nigeria Digital Economy by 24hoursreporter: 10:24pm On Aug 09, 2018
Close your eyes for a minute and imagine a world with no internet- it is dark, Spartan and to sound like Thomas Hobbes, it is brutish. It is like living in a cave and serving gods like Amadioha or Sango, still, these gods get information from the cloud.

Having access to the internet is something every Nigerian craves for and most Nigerians cannot do without the internet because almost all daily activities hinge on the power of the internet.

In a country where the amount of money you spend on internet bills annually can afford a second-hand car, Google station, a high-speed public WiFi programme service brings light to the digital economy. As millions of Nigerians are rejoicing and celebrating this new development, the launch of the station would span across our education system, providing more easy access to E-Learning, and promoting literacy in Nigeria.

However, is Nigeria ready for digital growth? The digital economy has gotten to that level where businesses who fail to leverage on this opportunity fizzle out. Digital is not just part of the economy; it is the economy.

It’s an economy of limitless opportunities for some and disruption and displacement for others. Many years ago, local Taxi drivers were on top of the food chain in the transportation industry in Nigeria but with the birth of Uber and Taxify offering enhanced digital services, Taxi drivers are gasping for survival. Newspaper sales are on the decline because of blogs, most businesses are unable to adapt to these changes, while others are thriving. In the light of these, companies that are adapting to a digital world are more profitable than their industry peers.

It is estimated that the Nigerian digital economy will generate $88 billion and create three million jobs for Nigerians before the end of 2021. Indeed, this projection swoons the head and poses many questions at the same time. But with Nigeria still not ready to invest in human capital, there is a contention that meeting customers’ expectations would be difficult.

Businesses must become more innovative to better respond to the highly competitive, global business environment. The need to acquire 21st-century skills needed in the working space is indispensable for innovation, both within the business own boundaries and beyond, with customers, partners, startups, universities, and research communities.

While we may not be able to know for a certain what careers and businesses in the future is going to look like, what every Nigerian can do right now is to prepare for the career paths of tomorrow, and that career and business cannot survive if the digital economy is neglected.

Politics / Badagry Residents Decry 4 Years Power Outage by 24hoursreporter: 3:36pm On Aug 09, 2018
Residents of Badagry, Lagos State have cried out over four years power outage in the coastal town and accused Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) of “total neglect” of the area.

They told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the continuous power outage had paralyzed social and economic activities in the ancient town.

Mr Femi Ilori, a resident of Topo-Badagry, said it was sad that the town had been in darkness since 2014.

“Living in this town is becoming unbearable because there is no hope of getting power supply.

“Since 2014, we have been in darkness in Badagry; former Gov. Raji Fashola promised us during his tenure that he would bring electricity to Badagry.

“The present administration of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode also pledged to restore power supply when he came to launch Light Up Lagos, a rural electrification project, in Badagry.

“In spite of all these promises, we are still in darkness. No electricity supply to do business, no power at home and in office.

“In fact, it seems to me that we are not part of Lagos, if not, why is it that no government has been able to solve our electricity supply challenges,” said the Badagry resident.

He appealed to EKEDC, the electricity distribution company responsible for the area, to restore power to Badagry.

We are really suffering here due to the total neglect by EKEDC; please give us electricity,” the resident said.

Similarly, Mrs Funke Adeyeye, a frozen food seller at Agbalata International Market, said that the permanent outage had paralyzed business activities in the market.

“Many frozen food sellers have abandoned the business due to lack of power supply to operate.

“Some are now selling vegetables; they ran into a loss because there is no electricity to sustain their frozen foods.

“I am still in the business because I took a loan to buy generating set which I’m using daily to power my business.

“Business is dull due to the outage, traders prefer to travel across Seme border post to buy their frozen food because electricity is constant there and their frozen foods are always fresh.

“This market is supposed to be booming but the lack of power has turned it to ghost market.

“The present government and EKEDC should come to our aid by restoring power to the city,” she said.

Also, Mr Tobi Oke, a landlord at Ajara-Badagry, said that the power equipment in the area was in good condition and decried EKEDC’s refusal to supply power to Badagry.

“Electricity installation and EKEDC equipment in the area are working well, so there is no justification for this outage.

“EKEDC only flashes residents with two hours supply thrice in a month and the next thing you will see is electricity bill of N5,000.

“We do not know what we have done to justify this hardship from EKEDC and Lagos State Government.

“How do you expect the residents to pay for power supply that comes around 2 a.m., when people are already sleeping only thrice in a month.

“We are peaceful and ready to pay for electricity supply, so EKEDC should please restore supply to our community, this hardship is too much,’’ he said.

In his reaction, EKEDC Spokesman, Godwin Idemudia, attributed the outage in Badagry to ongoing Nigeria National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) project by the federal government.

He said that part of the project had been handed over to EKEDC but not completed.

“Meanwhile, the community might still experience outage here and there until all the projects within that area of our network are fully completed.

Idemudia said that EKEDC would step up on timely clearing of faults as they occur in order to increase power supply to Badagry.

“We appeal to our customers within the area to bear with us as all hands are on deck to improve supply to the affected communities,” he said. (NAN)

Politics / Enugu State Govt. Seizes 48 Caskets by 24hoursreporter: 2:56pm On Aug 09, 2018
Officials of the Nsukka Local Government Council in Enugu State have demolished shops and seized caskets in a bid to force traders to relocate to a new market.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent in Nsukka reports that the action was carried out by the council officials late on Wednesday.

No fewer than 48 caskets belonging traders to traders at Aku Road, behind Bishop Shanahan Hospital were said to have been seized by the council officials with 10 shops also demolished.

The traders have been having a running battle with the council officials, who have been forcing the traders to relocate to a place, called Nsukka Timber Shed.

Speaking to reporters on the development in Nsukka on Thursday, Mr Benson Asogwa, Chairman of the Nsukka Association of Casket Dealers, said that officials of the Local Government Council raided shops and seized goods in a bid to force out traders.

He said that the officials were led by a man identified as the chief security officer of the council and that they pulled down shops and carried away many caskets.

“The council gave us only seven days’ notice before they pulled down our shops and packed our caskets and the materials we use in making the caskets.

“The council team was led by the Chief Security Officer, Mr Uche Eze, in company of some policemen and Neighbourhood Watch operatives,’’ Asogwa said.

But reacting to the development, the Chairman of the council, Chief Patrick Omeje, said the council had given the casket makers quit notice since January this year, to relocate to the Nsukka Timber Shed Market.

Omeje explained that the council had followed up with several letters and held series of meetings with the traders for them to see reason to relocate but that all the effort yielded no positive result.

“It’s not a good thing that anybody who entered Nsukka town the first thing he or she will see is lined up caskets.

“Some residents, especially children are scared of passing Aku Road in the night or early in the morning because of line up of caskets in that place.’’

The council boss pledged that as soon as the casket makers agreed to move to the Timber Shed Market the council would release the 48 caskets confiscated by the council.

Omeje said there was a law enacted four years ago by the council that compelled the casket dealers to move to the Timber Shed Market.

“The council is ready to partner with them provided they obey the directives of the council,’’ he said.

Foreign Affairs / Again! Another Earthquake Hits Lombok by 24hoursreporter: 2:23pm On Aug 09, 2018
An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitudes on the Richter scale hit the island of Lombok, Indonesia on Thursday, according to US Geological Survey.

This comes four days after an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 hit the island, causing mass destruction and killing over 347 people.

The Indonesian government estimated that around 20,000 people still require help in the affected areas and revealed that 80 per cent of the buildings have been destroyed, reported CNN.

According to several media reports, a large number of people have been displaced due to the August 5 earthquake, while over 1,000 people sustained injuries and are undergoing medical treatment.

Travel / Re: U.S : 21,476 Nigerians Overstayed Visas In 2017 by 24hoursreporter: 2:18pm On Aug 09, 2018
Beautyaddy:
Lol!...This is old news. Next...?

LOL, it is funny how they over stay in our country, yet you can't even get visa to stay in theirs.
Travel / U.S : 21,476 Nigerians Overstayed Visas In 2017 by 24hoursreporter: 1:59pm On Aug 09, 2018
No fewer than 21,476 Nigerians have overstayed their visas to the United States within the last one year, Per second news media reports on Thursday.

It said that information it gathered from Washington indicated that those who overstayed include students, workers and tourists, with increase in numbers of those that has refused to return to Nigeria.

Illegal immigration by overstaying a visa has been shown to outweigh a number of people entering by an illegal border crossing.

More than 700,000 foreigners who were supposed to leave the United States during a recent 12-month period overstayed their visas, according to U.S Department of Homeland Security ‘ Fiscal Year 2017 Entry/Exit Overstay Report.

185,375 Nigerian visitors were expected to depart after their stay, with 630 of them overstaying their visas, while 19,046 visitors and business men and women refused to return to Nigeria and residing illegally inside the United States.

In the report obtained, a total 9,245 students were expected to depart the U.S after their studies with 258 returning to Nigeria after overstaying their visas, while 2,172 refused to return and are currently residing illegally in the U.S

An overstay is a nonimmigrant who was lawfully admitted to the United States for an authorized period but stayed in the United States beyond his or her authorized admission period.

Nonimmigrants admitted for “duration of status” who fail to maintain their status also may be considered overstays.

“Duration of status” is a term used for foreign nationals who are admitted for the duration of a specific program or activity, which may be variable, instead of for a set timeframe.

The authorised admission period ends when the foreign national has accomplished the purpose or is no longer engaged in authorized activities pertaining to that purpose.

An example is a student program that runs for four years. When the program is completed, the student must leave or go on to pursue another program of study.

The DHS classifies individuals as overstays by using the ADIS system to match departure and status change records to arrival records collected during the admission process.

DHS further identifies nonimmigrant status through manual vetting processes to support possible enforcement action.

DHS identifies an individual as having overstayed if his or her departure record shows he or she departed the United States after his or her authorized admission period expired 17 (i.e., Out-of-Country Overstays).

While these individuals are considered overstays, there is evidence indicating they are no longer physically present in the United States.

DHS also identifies individuals as possible overstays if there are no records of a departure or change in status prior to the end of their authorised admission period (i.e., Suspected In-Country Overstays).

Overstays accounted for 1.3 percent of the 52.7 million visitors who arrived by plane or ship during the latest period, an improvement from the overstay rate of 1.5 percent a year earlier.

Canada again occupied the top slot for overstays, followed by Mexico, Venezuela, the United Kingdom and Colombia.

Nigeria, China, France, Spain and Germany rounded out the top 10.

The overstay rate was much higher among students and foreign exchange visitors, with 4.2 percent staying after their visas expired, a decline from 5.5 percent the previous year.

President Donald Trump has focused border security efforts on erecting a multibillion-dollar wall with Mexico. But the latest annual figures underscore how visa overstays are a big driver of illegal immigration.

An estimated 40 percent of the roughly 11 million people in the country illegally stayed past their visas.

Crime / Man Commits Suicide Over Girlfriend’s Refusal To Elope With Him by 24hoursreporter: 11:18am On Aug 08, 2018
A Zimbabwean man, Shupikai Chikuvira, 29, committed suicide after his girlfriend refused to run away with him.

Chikuvira’s body was discovered hanging near a footpath in Mutawatawa, Zimbabwe by villagers, who called the police to the scene, reports Bulawayo 24.

Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tendai Mwanza, confirmed the incident on Tuesday. He said, “We are investigating the case of a man who hanged himself in Mutawatawa on August 4 after he allegedly had a misunderstanding with his lover. We urge people to exercise restraint and solve their misunderstandings amicably. It is, therefore, regrettable that a life was lost,” he said.

According to the police, Chikuvira visited his girlfriend, who was panning for gold along Mazowe River on August 4, and proposed that she elopes with him.

She, however, turned down the proposal, saying her parents had not approved of their relationship.

In a fit of rage, Chikuvira left the scene threatening to commit suicide and was later found hanging from a tree along a pathway leading to Chitsungo business centre.

Foreign Affairs / Saudi Arabia Suspends Medical Treatment Of Citizens In Canada by 24hoursreporter: 10:42am On Aug 08, 2018
Saudi Arabia has halted all medical treatment programs in Canada and is coordinating for the transfer of Saudi patients to medical facilities outside the country, Saudi press agency reported on Wednesday.

The agency cited Dr. Fahd Al-Tamimi, Saudi Health Attache in the US and Canada.

The move came amid an intensifying spat over human rights between the two countries, after Saudi Arabia
expelled on Monday Canada’s ambassador in Riyadh, recalled its own ambassador from Ottawa and
froze “all new business” with Canada

The Middle East country had also decided to suspend all training and scholarship programs in Canada by
the end of the Islamic calendar year in September, the Cultural Bureau of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of
Education announced on Monday.

The abrupt diplomatic row broke out as Ottawa urged Riyadh to release civil society and women’s rights
activists in Saudi Arabia, according to a statement issued by Canada’s Foreign Office.

Foreign Affairs / Saudi Arabia Expels Canada’s Ambassador For ‘interference In Domestic Affairs’ by 24hoursreporter: 10:40am On Aug 06, 2018
Saudi Arabia has expelled Canada’s ambassador in Riyadh over what officials called “blatant interference in the Kingdom’s domestic affairs,” state media said Sunday.

The Canadian ambassador has been declared a persona non grata and has been given 24 hours to leave the country, the Saudi Press Agency statement added.

According to a statement released to the official Saudi Press Agency by the Foreign Ministry, authorities
gave the Canadian ambassador 24 hours to leave the country and recalled its own ambassador to Canada.

The Saudi ministry had been briefed that the Canadian foreign ministry and the Canadian embassy urged
the Saudi authorities to “immediately release” civil rights activists, the ministry said.

Canadian foreign ministry officials were not available for an immediate comment on Sunday.

Last Wednesday, Human Rights Watch said Saudi Arabia had arrested women’s rights activists Samar Badawi
and Nassima al-Sadah, the latest two to be swept up in a government crackdown on activists, clerics
and journalists.

More than a dozen women’s rights activists have been targeted since May.

On Friday, Canada said it was “gravely concerned” about the arrests of civil society and women’s rights
activists in Saudi Arabia, including Badawi, the sister of jailed dissident blogger Raif Badawi.

“We urge the Saudi authorities to immediately release them and all other peaceful human rights, activists,”
Global Affairs Canada said on its Twitter feed.

Raif Badawi’s wife Ensaf Haidar lives in Canada and recently became a Canadian citizen.

Most of those arrested campaigned for the right to drive and an end to the country’s male guardianship system,
which requires women to obtain the consent of a male relative for major decisions.

The Saudi statement said it confirmed its commitment to refrain from intervening in the internal matters of
other countries, including Canada, and in return rejected any intervention in its domestic affairs and
internal relations with its citizens.

“Any further step from the Canadian side in that direction will be considered as the acknowledgement of our right
to interfere in the Canadian domestic affairs,” the statement said.

In 2014, the Canadian unit of U.S. weapons maker General Dynamics Corp won a contract worth up to
13 billion dollars to build light-armoured vehicles for Saudi Arabia, in what Ottawa said at the time
was the largest advanced manufacturing export win in Canadian history.

Terrible Mistakes That Can Stop You From Gaining Admission in 2018

#1 O’Level Result Combination

One of the mistakes that can stop you from gaining admission in 2018 is result combination. Don’t get me wrong, you can gain admission to some universities by combining your WAEC and Neco.

However, some institutions specifically the University of Lagos only accepts candidates with one O’ Level result. It could be either Neco or WAEC. Therefore, it is advisable you do a thorough research and ascertain if the school you are applying for accepts combined results.

Otherwise, think of changing institution ASAP.

#2 Wrong O’Level Subjects Combination

Wrong O’Level Combination is also one of the mistakes that can stop you from gaining admission in 2018. The greatest mistakes students make is to assume.

Try to know the right subject combination of the course you want to study, otherwise, you may be denied admission. So, check Jamb brochure to know the subjects combination of the course you want to study.

#3 Age

Age is another reason you may not get admission in 2018. As at today, the official admission age into Nigerian Universities is 16. In other words, you must have clocked 16 years on or before 31st of October in the admission year.

#4 False State Of Origin

False state of origin is among the terrible mistakes that can stop you from gaining admission in 2018. it is still a puzzle how somebody will give a false state of Origin information.

Institutions take this offence serious especially state universities where students sometimes get bursary and subsidized school fees. Please never make this mistake, be real with your state of Origin and other relevant information.

#5 Cut off Mark

You probably don’t need a soothsayer to know that you need a good cut off mark to be admitted. Most first-generation Universities like University of Ibadan and University of Lagos don’t accept candidates that score less than 200 in Jamb.

Politics / EFCC Probes N90m Estacode Racket In Foreign Affairs Ministry by 24hoursreporter: 3:25am On Aug 05, 2018
According to SUNDAY PUNCH, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced investigation into the estacode paid to 87 officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Civil Service Commission.

The 87 officers who were paid allegedly supervised the 2018 promotion exercise involving 59 Foreign Service officers.

The investigation, sources disclosed, was triggered by intelligence alleging the existence of a cartel which uses the Foreign Service officers’ promotion as a cover to defraud the Federal Government.

A detective at the EFCC said, “Nigeria has 114 embassies all over the world and personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are posted to the different embassies abroad. The promotion examination of the personnel is usually conducted abroad.

“For the 2018 promotion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was said to have grouped embassies into four zones for ease of coordination. There is the Africa Zone with Nairobi, Kenya as centre and the European Zone with its centre at London.

“The Asia Zone centre is in New Delhi, India; and the America zone centre is located in New York. About 36 officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allegedly supervised the examination in the aforementioned zones while the Federal Civil Service Commission deployed 51 officers for the same exercise.”

The source noted that while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid a total sum of N37, 741,590 as estacode allowance to its officers, the Federal Civil Service Commission spent N52,474,072.

Sources disclosed that some of the officers who participated from the Federal Civil Service Commission spent fewer days than the nine days approved.

“Efforts will be made to get the officers to refund the excess estacode”, the source said.

When contacted, the Spokesman for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Tope Fatile, said he was just hearing about the allegations for the first time but promised to get back to our correspondent during the week.

Politics / Buhari Not Materialistic – Oba Akiolu by 24hoursreporter: 5:20pm On Aug 04, 2018
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari Buhari is a non-materialistic leader after comparing him with past leaders.

“If you watch the life of President Buhari, he is not materialistically minded like the other people,” Akiolu said.

The Lagos monarch made this remark when the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, led the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria to his palace on a courtesy visit.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the visit was part of the activities for the 2018 Conference of Speakers which commenced on Friday in Lagos.

“God loves this country and we are very lucky. My appeal to you, my sons and daughters is that let peace return to this country. Nigeria is not going to break.

“If all of us will cooperate, Nigeria will move forward. We are all one and we should regard ourselves as that.

“Cooperate with the national government. I believe in the corporate existence of Nigeria,”he said.

Akiolu urged the speakers to help address the challenges facing Buhari’s administration.

He lamented that the major problem of Lagos was the concession of Apapa Port.

“You have seen our problem. This is not politics. I beg all of you to join your voices with us as we request for a Special Status for Lagos State, ” he said.

He urged politicians to have the welfare of the citizens at heart and ensure the security of lives and property.

The Oba, a former Assistant Inspector General of Police, called for more funding for security agencies.
