A 17-year old can be more mature than a 34-year old BlueDiva. Remember that before wondering if NL is full of ''babies'' wink

@DK
Topic says state why you support your club, not criticize others for supporting theirs. So what if someone starts to support Arsenal today? Is it a crime? You make it sound like unless a person started supporting a club in 1802 he/she is a fake fan.

Your Barca story for instance, so only those first 3 fans are genuine in your line of reasoning right?
Glory-hunters exist true, but drop the bias for everyone that didn't support a club in 1980 and let people be honest.

Before you know it most will start coming here to say they support Panathinaikos because Zeus was a fan and passed the torch down to avoid criticism.

Abeg even if you're a glory-hunter say it loud and proud grin

I support Arsenal FC,
not because of any player or AW,
but because of the beautiful brand of
football the team plays.

Don't get it.
A 17 yr old could be more mature than a 34 year-old BlueDiva (referring to me)
or
A 17year old could be more mature than a 34 year-old, Blue Diva. (notifying me)

A comma, makes all the difference.
I want to believe its the latter.

Its in Nigeria people tend to support the big teams.
Honestly, if i was raised in Newcastle or Sunderland,
I'll wear my support for them on my sleeves.
Just like i do for CFC.

Supporting CFC is just by luck if you like.

I'm the number one critic of CFC, even though i don't criticize here.

Oh! I love Wengerball too, its a brilliant invention

1. No hard tackles
2. No growing of beards
3. Players' parents must be ever-present to cheer their kids
4. No trophies involved- just hugs, tears and the occasional spit on the ground.

Football redefined by the Proff himself. Kudos!

First, where you placed your own comma is uncalled for (emboldened).
Second, it's ''it's'', not ''its'' (while we're on the comma thing).

All of that is by the way though. . .what matters is, did the point get through to ya?

Thanks for the comma correction, though the former could hold true wrt your mental orientation at that age grin Just kidding. . .I think I must have meant the latter. Been hours y'know cheesy grin

Any more reasons for club allegiance? grin

This is hilarious. I have got to be mindful of my grammar. Sister teaching a sister some lingo. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

@ topic,

Never really been a footie fan. embarassed Too lazy to follow any team back in the days. But I fell in love with Arsenal in the mid 90s when my classmates, very early in the morning - everyday would argue over which team was better. Unfortunately, NEPA never made me to be a force to reckon with in those days when the arguments ensued. But supporters of Arsenal always had good points to their arguments. Then I started paying attention to them, and today, I proudly call myself an Arsenal fan. cool

We dont need English 101 to know its 'IT'S'
Well, since its an informal forum we tend to break the rules wink

But not including comma in your sentence made it difficult to figure out.
You could have meant two different things.
Thats why i bothered about clarification.
Afterall, i've been mocked alot about some of my absent minded grammatical errors. cheesy

Either it’s too early in the morning or I’m sensing an attritional attraction between Blue Diva and Cristalz. . . . I hope their attraction is purely platonic lest I contemptuously deny any seminal attraction I already hold toward the aforementioned ladies. . . . drawing an allegory from my love of cars, you can deduce from my last statement that I am neither averse to the classic (BlueDiva) nor chassis model (Cristalz). . . . However at this juncture, I would like to interject this debate with postulations from a blue perspective.

Cristalz:

First, where you placed your own comma is uncalled for (emboldened).
Second, it's ''it's'', not ''its'' (while we're on the comma thing).

I cannot believe that ma darling Cristalz would try to prove agidi by pedantically and condescendingly castigating Blue Diva for her non-application of an apostrophe sign. By the same token, I would like to remind her that the sign in question is not a comma, but an apostrophe. On the other hand, Blue Diva’s chastisement of Cristalz was a justifiable attempt to disambiguate the latter's comments  in order to prevent slander of the former's person. I hope this clarifies things.

Those were the days grin grin grin

I think it was the Stoikov/Romario combo with the deadly Free kick specialist, Koeman that did that damage. grin grin. I think AC milan dessimated Barca 4-0 in the finals, with desailly scoring a wonderful goal. pls correct me if am wrong.

Dont know why i fell inlove with a team losing 4-0 to barca at that time. And may never know, but am sure now, even beyond reasonable and unreasonable doubt that i started supporting the best team. grin
Re: Why You Support The Football Club You Do? by Ibime(m): 5:07pm On Mar 25, 2009
You guys should stop lying mehn. I watched that 4-0 game. It wasn't so much an ass whooping as a public lynching. Anybody that says he started supporting Man Utd because of that match is a bloodclot liar.

tell us why u support Chelsea and stop being a di'ck head

i never said i started supporting UTD cos of the beating except u wanna tell me u have cataract in ur eyes

UTD was my first team by default in that people i grew up with once lived and studied in the city.  Grew up seeing stuffs that had to do with the club. Live football games werent as 'proliferated' as it is now and we only live by highlights of UCL games, glossy football mags, memorabilia from the clubs et al.
I stumbled on the love for UTD from my family members (apart from my dad) in my early days so sharrap ya mouth or ill clip it for you

The 4-0 spanking was a day ill never forget and eversince then, Barca remains one of the most hated club for me apart from the natural hatred for Pool.

(1.) Calm down dear!  grin

If you must know, I started supporting Chelsea in 1996. Before that, my team was Ajax. I shall tell you the reason later.  cool

(2.) If you weren't a Man Utd fan in 1994, what is the reason for hating Barca?

Funny enough, the first Man Utd match I saw was 1-0 Charity shield against Liverpool (I cant remember who won) in 1992. I was in holiday in UK at the time. Despite my connections to the UK, I could never bring myself to support an English team until I actually moved here full time. Like every reasonable Nigerian, I was too busy watching Serie A and German League to busy myself with English teams, unlike johnny-just-come wey dey claim 1994.  grin

dayokanu:

Don't mind these charlatans. If I ask any of them a non-googlable Man Utd question from the late 90's, they wouldn't be able to answer.
