I didnt attack the cobra that almost killed me few years back......I kill any snake i come in contact with, even if its a day old. Their eggs too aint spared by me, i demolish them! |

You don't actually need to see the head before concluding which specie of snake it is. Gaboon vipers are quite easy to identify; first of all they appear to look like dwarf pythons, I think the maximum length you can find is 1.8m, pythons grow way longer than that. However, the easiest way to identify them is the pattern on their body; Gaboons have this characteristic zig zag pattern on its side which runs the entire length of its body. The way the bulkiness of its midsection tappers abruptly at its tail is also another tell tale sign Thanks eaglechild: |

Lobeez:Young pythons have that same description. For you to say that is a viper from that picture is nothing short of magic. Vipers are very rare. Most of what people brand viper are young pythons. |
