For the purpose of records, how come it took nigeria 30 months with the loss of more than 500,000 nigerian soldiers and the loss of 3 divisions.

A good number of retired nigerian generals all have scars to show for the war,Obasanjo, babangida.
Much as I do not subscribe to war but nigeria seriously was a big disappointment being held by a poorly armed biafran forces for 30 months

HUNDREDS of angry  military  pensioners in the country Monday besieged the Oyo State Secretariat saying they regretted fighting against Biafran soldiers to ensure the unity of the country.

They said if they had known that the country would repay them in this wicked manner, they would have fought for the survival and sovereignty of Biafra.

The retired soldiers who spoke through their Chairman, Mr.  Mr. Gabriel Oiakhena said, “we have been pushed to the wall. The families of over 500,000 soldiers who lost their lives in Biafra are suffering.

We who are alive are just living as destitute. Many of us have died because they did not have money to treat and fend for themselves. Senator David Mark has spent about twelve years and he has done nothing for us.

When the militants were pushed to the wall, they took up arms and fought with the last pint of their blood”.

Also speaking on the issue, another ex-soldier, Mr. Olatunji Johnson said they came to draw the attention of Federal Government to their 53 per cent unpaid arrears and other allowances.

To prevent breakdown of law and order, all gates leading to the secretariat complex were shut against the angry pensioners.

Armoured Personnel Carrier, five police Hilux Vans and scores of armed policemen were stationed at the entrance of the secretariat.

Displaying the injuries they sustained in the Biafran War and many placards condemning the discouraging attitude of the government, they said it was unfortunate that they were being treated in this inhuman manner after fighting for the unity of the country.

He said their mission to the office of Governor Abiola Ajimobi was to present a letter on their plight to him for onward delivery to President Goddluck Jonathan.

He said, “we will not allow the government to rest until our money and other entitlements are paid. Many of us are still being paid N10,000 as monthly pension while they are wasting millions over there. It is not fair”.

We might want to go into war with a sovereign nation Biafra, but we should watch our backs lest our lands be the conquered ones rather.

I would suggest we beg Biafra as the statistics above has shown they are capable of killing our army boys more than we can kill theirs. Also the system of starving them might not work this time around as they could buy food from any part of the world since they are now a SOVEREIGN COUNTRY. They could purchase weapons from world powers and pay us back in your coins, and world powers would sell to them since they are now a SOVEREIGN COUNTRY.

This junk up there shows me how much you know about war. the reason why there were much casualty on the nigerian army was because the biafran had home advantage( the war was fought in the southeastern part of the country). See WW2 for more information about military casualty in war. the Allied(soviet,us,england etc) had higher causualty than the Axis( germany, japan etc).

Me I don't want war but it won't be easy for any tribe, Igbo's will die, yorubas will die and also Hausas.

The Nigerian army is weaker than ever, the statusquo is different from that of 1967, things have changed.

I don't think starvation will work anymore this time.

I'm just praying UN doesn't grant them their Biafra, because if UN does, we are finished..Just as they have shown they can kill our military. And you know the genocide was due to lack of food and not by the bullet of our army..and since they are now a sovereign nation, they have the leverage to get food from any part of the world, hence the food from Benue will not be needed by them..And with their south south cousins this time around on their side, our odua and arewa military would be like child's play to them.
Hmmmm.

Biafrans should promote peace and not war, biafra does not have 2 things to sustain modern warfare that can finish the nigerian military. Gps satellite technology that can ensure precision targetting and rocket technology that would carry war head to the desired targets.
Nigeria does not have it either and cannot effectively engage in modern warfare except the warfare of destroying farmlands and food s.
Biafra should target peace and not promote genocide. Remember Japan and Germany.

Those that want Peace must be prepared for war.We all want Peaceful dissolution of Nigeria, you know like Czechoslovakia, but will a parasite let go its host without puting up a fight.

Realists know that Nigeria can only be dissolved the Yugoslavian way, and not the Czechoslovakia way, because of the parasitic nature of those we are dealing with.

I am sure that Kanu Nnamdi being a realist knows this too. Somewhere down the line of his Biafra actualization timetable must be war, the only difference is that we are no longer in haste like in Biafra 1.0, we have time, and can afford to plan better.

THERE CAN NEVER BE PEACEFUL DISSOLUTION OF NIGERIA, NEVER!

Those who think otherwise are living in a fantasy world.

That is the correct stats!
Biafrans due to the poor state of their military never fought pitched battles while Nigeria due to the stupeedity and ingloriousness of some commanders like muritala and adekunle squandered troops in missions they'd ve exercised tact for eg
1]in the 3 battles of Onitsha and the succeeding abagana ambush, muritala lost btwn 15000 to 20000 soldiers.. This left Gowon no choice but to retire him from the war
2]after the bonny landing and the subsequent capture of PH,adekunle launched the ambitious OAU project( designed to capture owerri, aba & umuahia in one big offensive) within 3 months.by the time the 3 months were over, his 35000 man army had been reduced to 3000.he only had owerri, maintained a tenuous toehold on aba without even scratching umuahia.the losses led to disgruntlement in his ranks forcing Gowon to replace him OBJ.

True,Nigeria lost heavily much more than what you put up there

you are wrong in ur analysis. The reason nigeria soldiers recorded higher casualties was because of there going to heaven to suck virgin breast mentality. Lol. The abokis where told that if they die on the war they will go to heaven, so as a result many of them wanted to die happily even before the biafrans bullet will come close. I remember one aboki willingly ran to battle front to be kill in other to go to heaven ha haahaaahaaaa

Lmfaoooooo so you actually didn't know Nigeria has more military casualties than Biafra and majority of biafran casualties were ordinary civilans. LMFAOOOO. Go read your history. While biafran soldiers were busy fighting Nigerian soldiers and kicking their @ss despite limited weapons, Nigerian soldiers were busy going after Biafran citizens that held no weapons to defend themselves. You should read Isama-Alabi book or even his interview because he actually spoke of this in his interview where he confronted obasanjo, there he spoke of an invasion his group did, and according to him, adekunle suggested rather than head on straight to straight with the biafran soldiers they knew were waiting for them, they should wait till middle of the night and sneak around them and go into the town and attack the civilians there rather than fight head on head with the biafran soldiers that were waiting for them at the head of the town. LMFAOOO. It is exact same thing you damn military did in odi. Rather than fight the militants that actually have weapons to fight back, they cowardly went after the civilians. Your f2king military have always been weak. They rather choose the weaker opponents aka the civilians than actual soldiers/militants that have weapon to fight their @sses back.

Something in my opinion, Biafra should learn. If a new war should start equip the civilians with weapons as well just in case that niggeria military decide to take that weak way again. And secondly befriend Cameroon and try to keep them as neutral as it can get. This way if Nigeria block off the air to get food transported to Biafra, you still have Cameron airspace to use. Allowing Niggeria bribing Cameroon with Bakassi oil to block off their own airspace to Biafra was to me the biggest mistake ojukwu did during the war. He should have kept them neutral.

Our shame and hopelessness in the face of your superiority is terrible.
Even Ijaws are now our bosses and we have been reduced to goats.

I am ibo and from Nnewi.
I am ashamed of my ibo people.
Nigerians should forgive us for our stupidity
We are just sorry because we are jealous of Yorubas
We wish we had an origin, history and culture like them.
We must be less cowardly and brave like Yorubas who plan better.
I say no to Biafra and I know we need Nigeria more than you need us.
Please just allow us to be shouting Biafra of the Internet because we are jobless.
Nairaland is all we have and even that is owned by a Yoruba man who is nice.
