Hello all. I must say this thread has been very much informative. I wonder the whereabout of all the pioneers set of this thread. I enjoyed reading most of the pages. My interest dwindled somewhat in the last few pages as they dont contain much. i would really like to read new post from members that havent done so. #teamkeepthreadalive. |

This thread is classic, nl is really a place to be, i bet most people cant write all these on facebook and twitter. But I would also like to share my story. The first day I met my husband, I was going from my sister's house to my father's house after her wedding and I went there to pack some goodies to take back to sch. Standing at d busstop with two mighty bags, my husband who was driving and his friend stopped to give me a lift, while on our way, his friend began to chat me up till he asked my name and I explained I wasnt Igbo and stated where I came from, immediately my husband who was driving like mad slowed down and started asking me series of questions(as in serious interview), only for us to find out we were both from d same place, our parents were childhood friends and my dad stayed with his dad during his nysc days(the first set of nysc). They dropped me off and he later told me that he warned his friend that day that he should stay clear this was his wife. Since i was still in sch, i wasnt even thinking of marriage, so whenever he mentions it, I just laugh. After sometime, we lost touch and I went for nysc, served in a villa with no network, only for me to open my mail one day and see series of mails from him, begging to com see me. He officially asked me to marry him and I said yes, he went out the next day and bought the engagement, male and female wedding rings and gave them to me and I was like 'take it easy ohh'. Everyone in my family fell In love with him and I almost became jealous sef, it was like I didnt deserve him(u no black sheep tinz), my father almost gave me out for free, to honour his friendship with my husband's late father, thank God for my 'wicked' uncles maybe I would have been the first bride without a bride price/dowry and made a laughing stock. Eight years down d road, I ve never regretted making this decision, I had always asked God to give me a husband that I did not deserve and He did more than that. I ve never met a more selfless person, he can give the last he has to us and strangers, always calm, never holds any grudges, teaches me how to love and play with the kids and forgives on per second billing. You do not come to our home and not feel his love, his cousin actually told my sister that he wants to get married and be just like us, everyone is envious of our marriage, even in our difficulties. Indeed am truly blessed. It has never crossed my mind to cheat, not once. And I believe this marriage would last forever. Thank u nl for awakening thoughts of the early special moments. 27 Likes |

Very beautiful thread God bless Seun for this thread I wonder how NL degenerated from people telling beautiful tales about marriage to people opening boasting about cheating and writing essays on it I guess it shows the rottenness the society Why aren't these beautiful posters frequenting the family section if they are still around? 2 Likes |

bukatyne:Because they don't want their mind poisoned by the extremely negative advice that emanate from this section. If many people on this thread applied such "academic" advice in their marriages, thousands would be long divorced. No be for dis section wey tolerance na taboo?! There's a thread on here about "first years of marriage", where posters gave testimonies of their first year of being married and the whole getting-to-really-know-each-other phase and how tasking it was. Going by their comments on that thread, had they brought their issues to nairaland at that period at least 90% would be divorced now or worse. Abeg, leave dem where dem dey. |

^^ You're very right bro. Tolerance & Patience & Marriage dip = Suffering and smiling on this section.. Mostly. Divorce him/her with any slight provocation ... Who says life is fair on its own not to talk of living with a man/ woman from entire different background?? @Topic.. My marriage is fine and dandy. First couple years was hard seeking what is mostly cherished in marriage. Thank God for my loving husband support. Hehe.. We went to Bose shopping for new 'toys' for the bonus room and after dragging me around for 3hrs with his full awareness of my zero flare for home entertainment. He finally made his first choice - Support & Patience. I sure won't do that for anybody else. |

^^ I truly truly learnt a lot from that "first years" thread. It was an eye-opener. I believe that if not for that thread I might not have had a home today. I've been away for about 3months and it's torture, my family miss me and I miss them(can't wait to finish this stint and get back with them). All this pursue pursue anthem as if say na David dey find Philistines for this section eh. Na only God go save people. If there's no patience and tolerance, there's no love. Who can't love a yes-wife or yes-husband easily? Who wouldn't choose someone who'll do as you want and even when you're wrong corrects you ever so softly and lovingly and doesn't get angry? Mehn, this section is poisonous. PS: Bose is the shiznit though, gaddemit. Words can't begin to describe. 1 Like |

There really no extremely negative advice going around except to those who want to eat their cakes and have it (male and female) Check out that thread and see the kind of homes/relationships the posters had and the values they upheld Men staying faithful to their wives, putting them first, creating conducive homes with love etc. Women supporting their husbands, taking them for whom they are etc. Did you see any male/female poster boasting about the number of women/men they sleep with outside marriage? People who have beautiful homes have nothing to fear 3 Likes |

bukatyne:I don't quite agree. But the part in bold cracked me up. The point is almost everything is seen through the lens of gender-support these days. When people can be logical and give advice based on merit on every isssue rather than a female/male-solidarity endeavour we'll be getting somewhere, till then.... |

No more kele kele lof anymore , you no know say 'scratch my back & vice versa' ? they even delegate chores - I heard that on this website first time in my life. Her husband is filthy= Divorce him! She can't cook / money mismanagement = Divorce her! Etc @ missing home.. Not easy ride I know but it is what it is abi and as long as you have an understanding spouse and children, shikena. @bolded... Tolerance and Patence - rare virtue in working marriage, else you'll find yourself in a screaming match everyday. But hey it's the new era so to them and their owns. @Bose .. Hmmm bro words can't describe how much this man squanders in that store every year, if it's Nigeria, people will call it Afishe... Okay oh it's the shiznit abi Da bomb that's him 'Living' and He earned it anyway. |

When people can be logical and give advice based on merit on every isssue rather than a female/male-solidarity endeavour we'll be getting somewhere, till then.... Well, Because everything is gender-support which some monikers are more guilty off I asked a plain question on the cut off thread for Federal Government Colleges and one Arrow brought up feminism Someone posts a topic and before you say jack, posters have started ranting feminism/anti-feminism And most 'merit' seems to support some sides from experience. I am sure the thread owners still get what they want out of it Also add every poster thinking their way is the best/only way 1 Like |

bukatyne:Hehehehe. Merit ko, messy ni. It's also normal for every poster to assume that their opinions are superior, what I can't stand though, is deliberately twisting your co-debaters' words to make yours look right. That's not the point. It's not about being right, to me it's about education. Which is why sometimes I might not comment till the last page even on some threads. @bolded, that's the koko. |

Ewuro1:Lol. Misery loves company. Never has it been truer than on nairaland. It is well. My family understand, and more than anything, I feel pity for them especially wifey. Na only she waka come now, so pressure's more but she's a strong woman . Thank God for grace to help me mature into a good husband and father. My son adores me and wifey confessed to under-appreciating my worth just a few days ago. Apparently, a man is a man. PS: You need to get bros some Carlos Santana, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Fela, Obey and Sunny Ade. Thank me later. |

Hello Guys, It's been a long long time that I checked in here. I couldnt stop myself readying thru all these stuff. My post was in 2008. I now have 2 daughters added to my son of 2007. My wife is amazing...stubborn and troublesome but we complement each other. We fight everyday and settle likewise. It has not been easy at all but God has been ever faithful. See my family now... 18 Likes
