My conclusion is that the ban against soliciting for investments on Nairaland is acceptable to most people, so we will go ahead with just that.

I believe in charity and helping people, but I believe it should be done with the business-like, result-oriented approach of Bill & Melinda Gates.

I think the people who are most abusive and threatening in their opposition to this idea need to be watched carefully. They are the suspects.

This rule wouldn't prevent any of us from giving. There is no shortage of people who need help in our families, neighbourhoods, churches, etc.
I can't believe Seun also supports dis @least nobody as ever complain of been scammed ever since people have been donating on dis forum. What I think you should have said is people should find out the truth before helping or donating

Whatever floats your boat dude. ....... but as a passing shot, can you give us just one charitable business like result approach you have carried out on NL because you seem to be mixing up charity and business.

You sound so like your mind is made up. What exactly do you wish to achieve by shutting down people from helping others through your forum? I have been on nairaland for so many years. I have seen people, users get scammed by venturing into business with other users who were scammers. The education section is on faya with so many threads from very obvious cheap scammers soliciting for "clients". The business section, the auto section, those are not left out. People are scammed daily through your site for doing business. You should concentrate on dealing with that to at least minimise or eradicate it totally.

On the other hand, I am yet to see 3 threads where anyone said he was scammed for donating or investing on a nairalander. Why are you chasing shadows and letting the substance be? Again, what do you stand to gain by stopping users from helping other users and/or their relatives?

Please don't waste your time quoting or advising him. If he is bent on stopping people from soliciting for help let him go ahead. Or does he think if friends, families or religion body could help would they bother coming to NL, did he thinks it is easy for someone that genuely needs help to come to a public forum and beg for it, forgetting about shame and giving his/her full details for verification

Like I said earlier Seun na you know.

You people should calm down. Either Tehn creates a website or have a real life ngo. I know people have genuine needs but I also think we have a better way to help charitable causes around us. If we all are so eager to help our neighbours around us that we pass on the street daily this country would be better.

That is how over 1million Americans were signing petition for illegal killiong of a lion in Zimbabwe and yet over 300 black people have died from same illegal killing in their own country and I didn't hear of a million man petition for each of them.

People want to just join a movement and feel emotional for 1 second a day, instead of putting their heart into really helping somebody.

Awww Seun, please dont do it. Just put up a message warning people of the fact and let each individual decide if they want to help or not. Just as cigarette manufactures will clearly state that smokers are liable to die young on their product packs
On the other hand sha, I understand where you are comming from. Trying to avoid the eahala of seeing NL turn into a begging ground.
maybe you can create a section for charity so that those who need help can ask and those who are in the mood to give a helping hand can go there scan through posts and decide on whom to help. Then you can start deleting any help or begging topic opened on other sections

Please let him go ahead with whatsover he wants to do. I know by God grace Lights will survive her sickness. If Nairaland stop allowing Nairalanders that genuinely needs help to solicits for it here that is a big shame and a slap on the face of the owner.

I hereby propose to create a new rule that forbids anyone from asking for money - especially investments and donations - on Nairaland later today. The enforcement of this rule will completely block the activities of many scammers. Any objections?

People he said all asking of money. Investments create your own website.

People that are crying urgent need.... In every 3 threads there is an urgent need.

Maybe NL should have another website but I know that won't satisfy most people. They want to give and let the other hands be seeing it. Yet to visit the said sick person only few will. Charity begins at home...atleast so we were thought.

What was the yardstick used in measuring the suggestion of the MOST PEOPLE to warrant your conclusion? The question is but what are the options in giving an answer. I will suggest u create a means where we can vote in respect of this, and the response or options shouldn't just be yes or no. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Seun, I do understand all your points concerning people scamming others, but like Jarus said, you can't throw away the baby with the bathing water, even though I don't know maybe this rule was created because of me or not.

But one thing I will tell you is this, I'm soliciting this help to save lives, which is my wife and our unborn baby.

Thankfully, the first operation was done not too far from you, which is Ota Specialist Hospital and I think this one too will go the the way of the other and by that you can even verify yourself because for my past 8years on this forum I know you like children.

After the case was verified by myndd44 and some people based in Ekiti, all the call made to him and TeHN disappear in the air, that was when am beginning to sense something.

It's really a shame that TEHN wasn't allowed to operate as she should.

Seun is the CEO. He has a right to make whatever decision. Your opinions do not matter. Y'all should stop being emotional.

NL is for traffic and gossip. It's not cut out for charity or intellectual projects.

There is a saying, "cutting the head off is not the cure to headache"
