Ndigbo Won’t Accept Less Important Political Appointments –ohanaeze by cyberdurable(m): 5:29am On Oct 10, 2015 |
A s the list of ministers-designate nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari became public, the pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has warned that the Igbo would not accept less important political offices under the current dispensation. The Ohanaeze said not only the South-East geo-political zone but also the entire Southern part of the country had been short-changed in terms of appointments initially made by the Buhari administration since its inception. The newly elected President of the Ogun State chapter of the pan-Igbo group, Ichie Iwuoha Uzodinma stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after his inauguration in Abeokuta, the state capital at a ceremony attended by delegates from the 20 local government areas of the state. Uzodinma noted that the Southern part of Nigeria has been placed at a disadvantaged position with the initial alleged lopsided appointments which favoured only the North. He, however, warned that the South-East would resist any attempt by the Buhari administration to pacify the Igbos with less important political appointments such as ministers of state. The Ohanaeze president noted that Buhari as the president of the Nigerian federation should strive to be fair and just with regards to the sharing of politicalappointments to all sections of the country. He said, “From the appointment so far made, I don’t think any Ibo man has benefited from anyone, not even the South generally. The South- South and South-East did not vote for change because they knew that the change would not benefit them. South West voted for change but the type of change being preached in the North is not what the South-West wanted and now the change has come. Eighty percent of the appointment is tilted towards the North. The South for now remains at a disadvantaged position.” www.sunnewsonline.com/new/ndigbo-wont-accept-less-important-political-appointments-ohanaeze/

I'm really beginning to hate these men. They have us out here looking CRAZY! During campaigns they hurled every insult at PMB. The day after he won everyone grabbed their red caps and lined up in Abuja. One day we shouldn't accept appointments. Now we won't be marginalized. They need to grab a big ol' seat and quiet down. We know they have been bought. Their relevance is waning. Please may they fade away in silence. 25 Likes |

Igbos only voted for GEJ, so Ohaneze should keep calm and allow people who voted and funded Buhari campaign to have the juicy picks..Whatever is left can be given to SE. That is how it should be. 15 Likes |

If not for ngige, ohaneze won't make that statement..ngige is still highly respected in the east despite his political affiliations 3 Likes |

liberty300: There are people who are in Ohaneze who insulted PMB. A large portion of Igbo Upper Crust insulted Buhari or at the very least wanted him to lose. Now when he won they flipped sides. When it became clear turncoats wouldn't even get crumbs they began to cry about how he hates Ndigbo. They aren't here to represent the Igbo masses but reather their pockets which is why they want "important" portfolios. People keep acting as though Kachikwu is not an Igbo man. He is running NNPC. The very company that accounts for the majority of the nationas wealth. That seems to me like a very important portfolio. Ngige will get his just due. He should be Senate President but ofcourse he couldn't win his zone due to slander against APC in the PDP dominated zone. Ndigbo isn't marginalized in the government. All of Nigeria is marginalized in the government. Until people notice that the rich don't see last names, state of origin nor ethnic lines they will continue to lose. Look at Diezani's co-defendants. They reach across all zones. The impoverished of our country will point the finger at the next man say he is the reason their wallets are hurting while ignoring the elected officials who takes loans and mortgage their futures to fly private and woo flighty young women. Play into their hand if you want. I know better. 9 Likes |

theV0ice: Ohaneze is a sociopolitical group with the interest of Igbos.,It is expected of them to always shift positions depending on political outcomes. Its not limited to Ohaneze, ACF and other Northen groups would have done same had GEJ been re-elected. |

For a group that conducts itself as a lapdog during GEJ's regime and has charged the present government several times on appointments as if Nigeria belongs to them, I believe it's quite unfortunate because it's somewhat obvious they don't know what they want. The Ohanaeze said not only the South-East geo-political zone but also the entire Southern part of the country had been short-changed in terms ofThe Ohaneze is stylishly playing petty politics here. They shouldn't fight for other geo+political zones in the west, rather they should fight for themselves. One minute, "proudly 5%", the next, "give us what we want or we die". Senile, old, confused men. 8 Likes |

HopeAtHand:I'm sorry, I just needed to ask; please how many times so far has the Arewa and ACF made demands in this new administration? It's really unfortunate that the Ohaneze believes that Nigeria revolves areound just them. This so-called socio-cultural group is a shadow of its former self, if you at all knew them. They've been blinded by greed and confusion. They've become the nuisance and talk of Nairaland and Nigeria due to their inconsistency. 4 Likes |
