Ferguson attacked in London train station

LONDON (AFP) - Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was attacked at a north London railway station, police confirmed on Tuesday.

After the 66-year-old manager was attacked by a man at Euston station at about 4:30 pm (1530 GMT) on Monday, the British Transport Police were called to the scene.


"We can confirm that one of the victims was Sir Alex Ferguson and he received injuries to his leg," a police spokesman said.


A 40-year-old man has been charged with one count each of actual bodily harm, assault and a public order offence.


Ferguson, who was travelling by train to London, is not believed to have been badly injured, and later attended a planned function in the capital.
